The whole point was that lots of researchers have duplicated the results

It’s all research from a single site. Allegedly she was a believer in ESP before conducting the study.

Some discussion of Dr Utts here.

Hardly credible science. Of course if it was a real effect it would be easy for other researchers to duplicate the results…?

Of course it’s ok! Why would you need extra thanks?

    Basic courtesy?

So debit cards are no more at risk than credit cards then, it’s just the consequences are more inconvenient. Is that right ?

Yes, with a debit card it’s your money, with a credit card it isn’t.

Or do you think that bunnyhops are more important than pedalling without making the suspension bob?

The question is flats or spds, what has this got to do with suspension bob?

You have riders with SPDs taking drastically longer to ride things, but you aren’t able to help them? You need to add 30 minutes to a days coaching? As I said, not a good ad.

Someone needs a reading comprehension course!

FWIW, all the experienced riders I know who use SPDs can clip into them in one movement after lifting their foot off the ground. No faffing around with extra run ups, or attempting to clip in when riding the obstacle.

Thats nice. Perhaps you might imagine that the people on skills courses are slightly less adept at instantly clipping in?

I concur, not bad tyres but the sidewalls on the s-works versions won’t survive long if you ride anywhere rocky.

I find they last better than shimano BB’s, up to you whether it is worth the extra cost though.

flow is a troll and seems to have nothing to back anything he says up!

I think you’ll find there’s more than one troll in this thread…

If it was that good a bike, they’d be as popular in the US and Europe as they are here.

Absolutely, nothing to do with dealer networks or exchange rates or anything like that 🙄

Surely a 29er? Give them a real vision of the future!

Not exactly high end, but Ragley spikes seem pretty good, 25mm layback. Not broken one so far…

People claim all sorts of benefits of 29ers for tall people but I’m yet to hear one that really stands any scrutiny.

Yes it is clearly madness. After all if wheel size was related to height, kids bikes would have smaller wheels…

Yes. Given that you can pay 7 quid and download an album, or just download it for free, it’s not surprising that lots of people don’t pay! I’m not trying to justify it (I still buy CDs!), but that is the situation. Expecting everyone to just pay up to the same extent that they were pre-filesharing is wishful thinking.

The music industry can complain all they like, but a business model that expects people to pay 7 quid for something that can trivially be obtained for nothing is asking for trouble.

Why not list all 3 on ebay and then back out of selling the 2 that go for the least money…?

Arrh, I did. Certainly helped by the weather, but it was a pretty good route and a really enjoyable ride.

Grr, my hope BB has just done this. BB threads not looking in great shape now, hopefully they can be rechased.

I was just reading the deaths column in the newspaper and thinking it’s wonderful how people die in alphabetical order………..

Not so wonderful if you are Mr. Aardvark…

    pypdjl

Dieing is different from never having existed.

Exactly, there are an infinite number of people that have never existed, and only a finite number of dead people.

You wont notice being dead i assume is Twains point which is correct

Presumably. Strictly speaking no-one actually knows this for certain.

If you’re not alive you are clearly dead.

Clearly this isn’t true at all.

Mark Twain is an idiot, you can’t be dead before you have been alive.

He said scared of death, not scared of being close to it!

Isn’t this what most mtb rides are like? Unless you live somewhere with massive amounts of trails that all link up without road sections.

Ignore hora, there is loads of stuff just in Roman lakes that he would have no chance of riding on a cross bike!

Best bet is to just get a map and start exploring bridleways and interesting looking footpaths.

Not sure where it was, probably near the end of the first lap, I just remembered the manchester mountain bikers jersey. I was on a green scandal 29er.

Outside the cosy world of STW, next to no-one is interested in fatbikes (or 29ers for that matter). The demand is tiny.

Yes, 29ers are restricted to such tiny niche manufacturers as Trek, Specialized and Giant… 🙄

They are amazing, a king among tyres, performance in mud is astounding, yet they eat rocks for breakfast and roll sublimely fast on tarmac. Coincidentally I have a pair for sale if anyone is interested in trying these amazing rubbery beasts:

“like a religion” in terms of irrational conformation to strange rules.

All bike races have rules, hence it is much more “like a bike race”, than it is like a religion.

    pypdjl

    Sounds like a religion

Are you sure? Which religion did you have in mind? I wouldn’t claim to be familiar with every religion in the world but as I understand it very few of them have any strictures regarding the use of cyclocross bikes.

I’m running a slot dropout scandal with gears at the moment. It’s not a complete nightmare, but it’s definitely more hassle than a vertical dropout frame. If I was going to run gears all the time I’d definitely go for vertical dropouts.
