try looking at some of the terminology used by quantum physicists to describe their work,

The terminology is irrelevant, quantum mechanics makes very detailed predictions about the outcomes of physical phenomena. It isn't gibberish.

scandal was based around 80-100 for optimum race light aluminiuminess (There is no scandium in it anymore!!)

inbred 100-130 general twatting about bike

The scandal and inbred have exactly the same geometry!

Here's mine, no idea how much it weighs but they are fairly beefy steel frames, so never going to be ultra light. The alfine doesn't help either…

I largely just followed this guide, except I used presta valves instead of drilling the rims. Used a velox rim-tape to build it up a bit, and just stretch the tube on and cut round. Lots of soapy water required to inflate, but no compressor required.

On-one reetard 29er rims, kenda nevegal dtc 2.2s, and stans sealant. Just used a 24" schwalbe tube for the conversion.

More worringly, will smith is the lead in the Spielberg remake of oldboy

That's a bad idea whoever they cast as the lead though!

If they read this how exactly will you defend that claim?

I don't know, how do you suggest I defend it?

I don't have a problem with OEM stuff in general, where it is the same stuff just sans packaging, but where the OEM item is significantly downgraded in spec compared to the real item it needs to be mentioned, ie the 2 pairs of rusting "stainless steel" S8 headset bearings I have…

They are cheap, but have a distressing tendency to supply oem/dodgy goods that they have advertised as the real thing. Bad merlin!

Were the steps on the path from the shooting hut ?

Arrh, they certainly were. Cheers everyone, really enjoyed the ride.

I have some 520's that are worn in the same sort of way, you can pull out of them if the cleats are fairly worn, but not in new cleats. Sounds like yours are worse though.

the payback time would literally be endless

    Never worn out a cassette?

Have an alfine on a P7, lasted about a year including a fair bit of riding in winter on the edge of the peaks, now needs the bearings replacing and an oil bath. Probably still cheaper than replacing chains and cassettes though.

Philip K Dick could do ideas but he couldn't actually write

Steady on there, PKD was a genius, bladerunner was only inspired by the book, not intended to be a faithful adaption.

there's only one local climb that I've ridden geared that I've yet to conquer SS:

Last bit of the climb up to the fox?

At what distance? Are you racing downhill or something?

Haha, no far from it! As I said it is great for the money, just not as good as some of the more expensive lights.

5W halogens are 'good enough', people still buy better lights though. The DX is good for 50 quid, but it's very floody, not great at distance.

I think people are getting a bit carried away with the DX light, very good for 50 quid as it is, it's still nowhere near as good as any of the proper top end bike lights.

Hope if you want nasty gold coloured stuff on your bike. Simple.

Strange, the last 2 sets of hope brakes I bought have no gold bits on them, and work superbly. As others have said, pretty much all modern hydro brakes work very well, as long as they are set up correctly. The only ones I'd actively avoid are juicies.

Was out on the rigid singlespeed last night, saw 3 badgers! Doubtless the noise of gears and suspension would have spooked them had I been on a different bike…

However the rocks seem to fly up and hit the underside of the frame on a regular basis, too regular.

How is the frame design going to significantly effect the frequency of rocks being thrown up from the front wheel? Think about what you are saying!

Im 6'5" and had a 21" inbred, but found it rather long, happier on a 19.5 scandal now.

If both pads are in contact with the disc then you have sticky pistons, and need to give them a clean/lube. Otherwise it is as Onzadog said with the screwdriver on the back of the pad while pumping the lever.

You shouldn't need to move the calipers at all, they should be centered on the disc!

Ran an eskar front purgatory rear round the grizedale challenge last sunday, they seemed fine. Have also been using a purgatory on the rear of another bike for a few months, was easy to inflate on a stans rim, has been good so far.

Yeah, definitely better starting at the centre so the long first climb can spread the field out a bit more. The parking was a bit bonkers as well. Still really enjoyed it, the weather helped, 2nd lap was knackering though…

If you strip and regrease your BB after a muddy ride it will indeed last longer than a month.

If you go by the manufacturers instructions, you aren't supposed to do anything to HT2 bbs (at least for shimano ones).

Exactly, make stuff heavier and it would be much easier to make it more durable, no one would buy it though…

Damn those crafty manufacturers forcing people to buy expensive bikes. Doubtless Mr Shimano and Mr Sram are sitting laughing atop piles of ill-gotten loot.

Every single one of them has cracked at the head tube seat tube weld.

I'd be more worried about the head tube being welded to the seat tube in the first place…

It is hardly unreasonable to expect a retailer to be honest with their descriptions of the product they are selling. Some OEM products are significantly inferior to the proper item, flogging such items while advertising them as the proper products seems like it would be borderline illegal.

Cheers, yes it was mostly fine, although as you say there were a few very deep puddles, saves washing the bike I suppose! Really enjoyed the trail, almost like a mixture of a trail centre and a natural ride.
