Here is mine, still getting used to it but all good so far…

1385 miles running, 78888m climbing, I don’t like flat runs!

We went down to 1 car and got a Surly Big Dummy for local shopping trips + sprog transportation. Fitted a bafang motor to it as it is pretty hilly here, and the sprogs are heavy. It has been great!
If you only rarely need a large cargo capacity you could always get a trailer for a normal bike instead of going full cargo.

I fitted a bafang to a big dummy, easy to fit and works well. For a mountain bike I can imagine a torque sensor would help, for a commuter though I don’t see much of an advantage.

I built up a dummy with a Bafang mid drive, it’s great! We went down to 1 car with the dummy as the replacement. Largely being used for lugging sprogs about.
The centre mounted kickstand is really useful, makes loading up much easier, eg children can climb on without the bike tipping over.
Having the form of a normal bike is useful if you want to use any bike paths with anti motorbike gates.

“If surly did an e-big fat dummy, I’d have that!”

I have a non-fat big dummy that I fitted a bafung ebike kit to, makes a lot of sense for short trips etc. Means we can easily go down to 1 car in the household.  No quicker than the road bike for commuting, although it is less effort.

No idea for proper mtbing, but for commuting a conversion kit seems perfectly fine. I have a bafung mid drive fitted to a big dummy and so far it has been great.

owning anything you can view tv on nessessitates a license.

Nope, you only need a license for viewing broadcast TV or iplayer. Owning equipment is irrelevant.

You can contact them to say you don’t need a license, quite likely that they will want to arrange a visit to check. It does stop the letters for a while at least.

Yeah it’s a rubbish design, easy enough to cut and file flat again though.

I did exactly this, ran an ethernet cable down to the garage (only 70m in my case) and used an old router as a wireless access point. Working perfectly so far…

I have used a bungee, it works very well for what you describe. If you wrap it once over their bars then they can hold it in place, if they want to stop being towed they can just let go. Have hauled a 9 year old up a few climbs in the peaks like this.

If you’re not creating a copy how is it copyright infringement?

If you are talking specifically about the streaming boxes, then as I understand it at the moment it’s a bit of a grey area, if it is going to be anything however it will be some form of copyright infringement not theft.

It’s not a debate, theft is not the same thing as copyright infringement.

It doesn’t get any better, I thought it was average at best when it was new.

If you keep doubling your distance each time you’ll soon be doing some very long rides!

You could just get an 11-42 10sp cassette, then you don’t need a new shifter and mech.

I had somewhat similar symptoms for 6 months before eventually being diagnosed with pulmonary embolism, clots in my legs were travelling up into my lungs.

Might be worth seeing if the GP will do a quick blood oxygen test after exercising, eg running up and down a flight of steps a few times.

I didn’t say it was a hill, just that it is mostly uphill!

Thanks for the replies, yes I found it a much bigger drop off than I was expecting!
I didn’t gt much sleep on monday night, so that coupled with not much food on tuesday might be the most plausible explanation.

I’m using a NW ring on a 1×8 setup without a clutch mech and it’s working so far. On a commuter not a mountain bike admittedly, but it was dropping the chain a lot before I fitted the NW ring.

I don’t see many on my local trails the Peak District, West Yorkshire, can’t imagine they are great on serious climbs
In fact I’ve never seen one..

I’d love one but having to climb on a average 500-800 metres a ride I can’t warrant one

You probably haven’t seen one because there aren’t that many out there, nothing to do with your local terrain. I did a big loop on mine in the peaks the weekend before last, 2000 metres climbing, the bike is not the limiting factor.

I’ve never understood the mentality of the thieving parasites who refuse to pay for a licence yet use the iPlayer.

Yes it’s outrageous, people who don’t legally require a TV licence not having one! Do you buy a fishing licence if you aren’t a fisherman, hmmm?

How wide is wide-ish? When I was tubelessing mine I had a look at a normal 24″ tube with 80mm rims, no chance of that working. Had to pay the extra for 3″ ones.

I have an RSP plummet that also exhibits a worrying amount of movement, the saddle must move by about 1cm fore/aft if you rock it. Doesn’t bode well for the thing surviving much longer!
