Haha, they’ve stopped selling the single 18650 batteries!
Sure they use to sell em there for £12 for two, reckon people were just buying two sets and bonding em together saving over half price, now they just been greedy charging £51 for one of them batteries to suit the x2!

It’s all a load of bollocks, just use whichever is on offer, lube is lube at end of the day and the drivetrain won’t last longer than a year with average mileage in British conditions anyhow. Those that recomend oil are either selling the stuff or a bike gimp 8)

Will probably end up getting a better battery as the sealing on mine looks a bit useless to say the least.

So u would buy another battery just because of the sealing!!!

Never heard of silicone sealant :?:

When you get a cheap crappy light, you can get a replacement battery pack from Smudge if you want or when the other one dies!

£50 is expensive for a battery!
Acrually, would be cheaper to get 2 sets of them singles for half the price and bond em together

I have two sets of solarstorm and the batteries aren’t as bad as everyone is making out anyway!

For the sake of 50 blocks, just mix it by hand(shovel) Either use a board to mix it on or mix it in the barrow, ffs don’t worry about the ratio too much!, especially for block work, I’d just throw half a bag of cement in and shovel about 8 good shovels of sand, nowt hard n fast, get some fairy liquid in, ‘but don’t let the foreman see yaa put it in!’ will make it nice n supple to work with, and stop calling it mortar! it’s Gobbo!

Thanks pussy willow for your compliments, it means a lot… Yea the the serpentine is a fun run, but you will also notice that the photo was also taken at the top of ride humble, which is a much more awesome and fun run, you should try it some time when your next out there or maybe you need to remove that tree out your c***

I’ve had 16″ for 3 weeks now….absolutely love it, defiantly an imprIvement on a standard 456, rides down hill more confidently but will still climb up hill if you want it byo… And the clear laquer looks so much better than it does in On Ones photos… Currently running 150mm Revs up front.
Since I’ve had it its done 1 week in morzine and 1 week in Sainte Foy with The White Room Chalet, and today’s ride round llandegla…. It’s definatly the perfect bike for the alps, it was awesome fun embarrassing people on their full sus down hill big boy bikes....

Looking at that second pic, your at the top of serpentine, in which case is far from a proper downhill mate, the riders you overtook riding down there would have been begginers and hardly worth the bragg, still it’s good that your enjoying the bike, maybe see how it fairs on some proper downs, I think you’ll find your podium place changes too!

Yeah, I only have one pair left though, red/black tribal, stitching doesn’t look too good on them but nobody would notice they’re fakes.. you want em? £35 to you pal 8)

tumbled upon the sweetest dit of trail i’ve ever ridden !
Also found Muhassive DH Gnaaarrrr!!!!! that just threaded its way all over the hill, about 6 runs all linked in !
Its all new in the past month on the DH stuff, This bit i found all the lines are marked in Blue for those that know it what do you think ?

    they be are trails blood!

and the new xc was named “twisty turny track” until strava named it ha

Yeah man, proper riding, there’s some groomed tracks to the right hand side of the official dh tracks, but they are still good, then there’s some proper tech stuff a bit further up, again further to the right, did you do them?
I love wharney, but I have a feeling that the really tech stuff may be too much for the stw enduro groomed trail serp rider!

Had Hopes for years, then one day tried some of the new XT’s… now all my bikes are running Shimano. My cheap deore’s even laugh in the face of the Hope’s.

I sometimes ride with a big group, can be 20 of us at times, and not one would go back to hopes after having the Shimano one finger brakes, they’re just another step way above the rest! 8)

How they deliver that power is quite different though. Anyone going from Hope to Shimano like me will find the Shimanos a bit grabby with not a huge amount of feedback with which to judge the lock up point. Going the other way round I can imagine a Shimano user at first finding the Hopes at first underpowered and a bit dead.

    Yep.

so the review is based on 7 years on Hope v a mooch round on Shimano’s?

    +1

OP- do you work for hope or maybe have friends that work there?
In my opinion, and that of the big group of people I ride with, Is that hope are hopeless and very much under powered, but as an excuse say they have better ‘modulation’ than Shimano.
I love the modulation on my xts btw and would never go back to being hopeless on the brakes!

Ok, where do I start….well the general video is ok, but there is improvement to be made on the riding, not that your as bad as some are saying! just ignore the negative feedback as this will not do your confidence any good what so ever! The first thing that I always stress to my clients is positive thinking, this is the key factor in any competitive sport. I’ll talk about that more though in my up and coming peaks pootle ride out thread I have arranged which will give singletrackers the chance to ride out with me and chat about certain aspects of mountain biking that might be bothering them.
Ok, well the second aspect of your riding I would re-evaluate would would be your core positioning, I would suggest core excersize workouts which will help a great deal towards this, are you a tall rider by any chance? This is something I see a lot with tall riders, there is certain body positioning on a bike that tall riders can gain advantage by using, again I will go into this more on my next thread which is coming up in the near future.
One more thing before I go, is one of them descents your going down in coedybrenin by any chance? If it is, I think I got the kom on strava, fantastic track though!

If this were a video of some fat middle aged guy riding down a tow path taking in views of a blue sky then everyone here would be saying how great it was and how it’s what mountain biking is all about. What you have done here getonyourbike is annoyed the majority of forum users because you have pointed out what they would like to be able to do but can’t (and never will) hence the petty criticisms. They criticise your riding because they could never hope to do the same, they criticise your choice of clothing because none of them are brave enough to wear such things (too old, too fat – the sort that tirelessly refer to downhillers as wearing brightly coloured pyjamas, you know the ones) and above all they are critical because you are demonstrating something they simply don’t understand (there are few actual mountain bikers on here). Your sponsored, you wear bright, branded gear, you ride FS, you’re actually good and you have managed to edit together a good video to demonstrate it.

It is jealousy on a base level.

Yup sticking with my 26 inch wheels. On the flattest dh track (its not even a proper dh track, its not far off being an enduro level stage) on the world circuits….the 29ers and 650bs couldnt get close.

I remember half you guys saying a while ago that this was where the big wheeled bikes would prove their dominance.

Roll better yes, but in my experience being able to pump, skip and maneuver the bike is more important when it gets rough and a smaller wheel is better for this.

This says it all, end of thread. 8)

Serpentine is a nice run no matter what your skill level but you do have to respect the mixture of abilities you’ll find on that sort of trail. It’s not the kind of trail most people would do lots of laps of as It’s quite long and the lift queues can be epic.

The way Chatel bike park is laid out gives you a lot of options for the second half of the hill, but a lot of the reds (and all of the blacks) on the top section of the park are quite challenging – if you’re not on your game or you just want to preserve your arms/brakes/tyres it’s not a bad idea to “poach” one of the easier trails, but respect it for what it is.

“Stormtrooper” is just a outfit – not a mindset. It’s the kids in wife-beaters and neck braces you need to watch.

    POSTED 2 DAYS AGO # REPORT-POST

I would have to disagree with you there, I always ensure my clients wear full protective gear to start with especially when they choose the upgraded skills course which involves ridding alpine descents, the key with mountain biking is ‘confidence’ once they feel confident they then have the mental tools to take a positive aproach to riding something they would normally feel is way out of there level, with a positive attitude they will then be focusing and have mental visions of successfully clearing that double or drop or even a technical section. I would say over 97% of my clients feel a massive confidence boost when wearing full protective gear,
I only ever wear a helmet, but I ride well within my capabilities
Even though I get told to slow down all the time!

I’d always sacrifice maybe the tiniest bit of stopping power from some of the competitors and go for Hope 4 pots every time – beautiful to look at, great modulation, adjustable for bite and reach at the lever, unbelievably easy to bleed, well made, can change pads with wheel in, customer support (that I’ve never needed)! What’s not to like?

    POSTED 11 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Deffo get them then aye, **** the performance! I love an attractive brake!

Go with the xt pal, best brakes out there by far! And they do have good modulation, although if you’ve come from hope brakes that have no power then they will take a ride to get used to, as these babys have so much more power! But once you’ve had them, you won’t go back! 8)

The guy asked for our advice ffs! I’ve given him some constructive criticism.

getonyourbike- I’m not trolling matey, you asked for our advice and I’ve been honest as I always am, I genuinely hope you learn something from it mate.

What you have to remember is that you’ve posted it up on stw which is full of Lyra clad gimps riding around on the latest 29″ bike!…..you look good to them! post it up on pink bike and it’s a different story mate, you genuinely look like your trying too hard to be cool but you simply don’t deliver, ok maybe I’m being a bit harsh now, but when you post a thread up asking about ‘what’s my video like’ and then call them a troll cos they haven’t agreed with your expectations, then I’m bound to be a bit pissed off!

Maybe get some proper riding on, on your next video, a big mountain epic with proper steep rocky tracks, that would appeal to people better rather than easy to ride smooth berm baby berm groomed lines with the gay jumps

Seriously though, you aren’t that bad, that costume you got on though!

The start is very gay, and you look to have Simon Cowell pants on, maybe try not tucking the shirt in, apart from that, the riding ain’t that bad I suppose, although you look like your trying too hard to style everything up, try not tweaking the bars on every jump, ‘gets a bit cringeworthy after a bit’, your not too bad around the berms although you do seem to scrub the speed on the way out of them, again I think it’s cos your trying too hard and can sometimes look a bit unstable, also don’t try doing manuals until you can do them!

Hope this helps, I look forward to seeing your next vid. :D

    Who’s trolling?
I’m just being honest(well technically not), I made some money, I got positive feed back after it so the buyers must have been happy. I kept some myself, if you look at the genuine ones they have better zips, and the material is better but they’re still good for £22 a pair, I sold them for roughly £45 a pair, and that was after all fees taken off, so business is good businessillegal

Yes it’s only some shorts but if you can’t afford something with a label the most needy thing to do is buy a fake with a label. Buy some nice unbranded shorts.

    POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Bit of a stuck up attitude isn’t it? Some people can’t afford the genuine and so is nice for them to have a genuine copy, illegal or not, I can think of a lot worse that goes on and as if the government aren’t ripping us off! Screw the system and get what you can, unless your a middle class toff with no worries in the world aye mike?
