I've got a Octane 14, on the whole it is a very good pack fits loads in and is comfortable to wear. My only complaint is the waist band pockets the zips are difficult to open and close on the fly and even stood still whilst wearing the pack. If you like to have your gear in seperate pockets, eg pump tube levers patches in 1 compartment, tools in another etc then in may not be the pack for you.

The main reason why I love this pack is when it is full to busting the thick straps are comfy round your hips which will take most of the weight when worn low down and the pack is very solid and doesn't move around even on the roughest of terrain

I think most of the routes have been covered. Most of the routes around swindon are made up of wide open rutted bridle and byways only good for getting the miles in rather than exciting the senses, however if your into outdoors and not head down blasting the amount of wildlife etc you can see is amazing. There are areas with some good bits of single track and challenging climbs. if its rained and dried out slightly you'll be carrying 20lbs of mud stuck to your bike after the 1st 1/2 mile no matter what tyres you have. there is some good road riding to be had if thats your bag along the quietish country lanes.

Red planet bikes swindon do a weekly ride tuesdays I think never been on one as have other comitments have heard good things.

Hmm That doesn’t sound good, I was thinking of being a postie when i get out the RAF ah well back to the drawing board.

A mate of mine went to work as a bin lorry driver when he left. he loves it early starts again usually done by midday unless he picks up another lorries round but that is rare.

Sometimes you just need to jump ship and do what you want to do and not worry about money as that will hold you back. your lucky enough ATM to have the choice my dad was made redundant at very short notice he got a good payout and set up bussines for himself, it was something he always wanted to do but always hung back because of money doubts, he is now much better off and now has enough time for Golf (his passion)

do you have anything in mind?

What ever you do best of luck

    Send Bottles of “Mouth Wash”
or Vodka Dyed Blue/Green in a Mouthwash bottle.

Rather than Give something to go out with send lots of little things through out the tour, A small parcel with Sweets, Mags, washing powder, toothpaste, shave gel, razor blades, etc can go a long way. Just don’t forget the “mouthwash”

Or If you would like him to have a leatherman, Oakleys, etc, give him the money as they will get it at half the price or less, from the Yanks.

All of the above is good sound advice, However in my personal experiance, Get some kind of metal impliment and scratch the paint work somewhere just to get that first dink over and done with and not worryabout it.
