I used to use extension tubes on my 35mm when I was into insect photography. Either with a 50mm or 135mm lens. You can’t easly focus the camera, just move backwards and forwards until it is clear.

I found the best solution to focus, depth of field and ease of use, was to mount two small flash guns one on either side of the lens. For any given magnification or selection of rings you used the same aperture settings, as you got closer the less light gets to the film, but the brighter the effective flash is, and it all evens out. No worries about camera shake either because it’s the flash duration and not the shutter speed that controls the exosure, som you won’t need a tripod.

Lots of good routes from Ambleside, Biketreks do route cards.
Don’t worry about the bikes, the hills are the same hills that we all rode before any suspension at all.

My son started on gears at 5, on gripshift, when he was six we changed to trigger shift, that was much better and easier to change

The band has to captive on the axle, you wind it up by turning the wheels, then release it.

Birky, another one for Orient, they never seem to get much of a mention, got one of those Makos weighting my left arm down as I type now.

We’ve had microscalextric since he was three, it’s just fine. there are a lack of parts though, it seems easier to buy another set than to get spare bits of track

Not necessarily heavier, it depends on the steel and the build, most people are amazed by the lack of weight in my ’93 Kona Cindercone. Just because tanks & railway engines are steel, it is deemed to be heavy.
as for the ride, you do actually find youself riding as apposed to sitting or hanging on.

After much thought and consulatation on here, I chsnged my son’s Isla Bike to sram triggers earlier this year. He was six at the time, he thinks they are great, better than gripshift, and he actually uses the gears now.

That will be the bit that fits in the shifter then? So no good?

It gives meaning to thier pointless little lives, hating someone percieved as a lower status than themselves.
If we had a charismatic hatefilled political leader, handing uniforms out to members, they’d be first in line.

I have, sorry, my son has a Maisto Rock Crawler, he got when he was 6, now 7, it’s big enough to be robust, but slow enough to control, 4 wheel drive, loads of suspension movement and it really does climb up stuff.

I’ve recently swiched my 6 year old’s Isla bike from gripshift to trigger shifters, he thinks it’s great, and he actualy changes the gears properly now.

I’d rather have Cipo’s name on the downtube than Boredman anyday.

I did similar with fabric walking boots years ago, before you could get proper MTB shoes. It did work, they were half leather though, but it looked very dirty very soon.

If the weight of the gear box and the rider is on the swing arm, does the swing arm move, or does the front triangle move in relation to the swing arm.

m1kea, I have V-brakes on my ’93 Cindercone. You don’t need new braze ons, what I did was to reuse the existing seat post cable guide. You remove the bolt, turn the guide so that the bolt hole is in line with the top tube. then replace the bolt with a barrel adjuster from an old rear mech. then run the cable thought the barrel adjuster.

Don’t get hung up on longer range being better, you just get more unwanted traffic, and how far away from each other are you really going to be?

I’m guessing that they are a press fit, you don’t need the the top cap and bolt once the headest is adjusted and the stem tightened.

To be classic it had to be exceptional when new.
To use classic cars as a comparison, an E-type is classic, an Allegro is old and crap, just because it’s not rusted away yet dosn’t make it a classic.

Drew Lawson, in the UK early days, the terms Mountain Bike and Muddy Fox were interchangeable.

Don’t be too concerned with the range, you probably won’t be that far apart, and the longer the range, the more unwanted traffic you pick up. Personally, I’d go for shorter range.

I havn’t read if you found the v-brake collar, but what I did was to use the existing collar, that I see you still have. I replaced the bolt with an old barrel adjuster from a rear mech, turned the collar 90 degrees and ran the cable through it.

My son got Thunderbirds toys from his Uncle for christams when he was three. He had no idea what they where, bit now at 6 and having the DVD box set he loves it.
I still enjoy them myself, in the 60S this was future as
fact, we knew that this would happen, men on Mars by 1980, there was no doubt it would happen, I’m still dissapointed…
