I saw this before the election, it does appear to be a back door way to limit access for all. But, it could be an opportunity, if MTBers, Ramblers and horse riders can unite around opposition to this, we can push back, not just to close the door and maintain the status quo, kick the door down, and go for full access to all.

Heard from a politician on the radio, in a shocked something must be done voice, “50% of British people are below average intelligence”

Ninfan has it right, we don’t have the rights to footpaths, but that does not mean that we are not allowed to ride them, it’s certainly not illegal. All it means is that if the landowner owner, or agent thereof, askes you to leave, the you must. If you have the right to be there, then the law is on your side, not the landowners.

I’ve just looked for the next episode, Saturday AM at 8 on the Scrambled Show. This is episodes are split part way through, to allow for inane chatter from the presenters.

it is getting late in the day, I apologise that some innocent words may have had their spellings mangled in my last post.

T Rex is a tetanuruan coelurasaur, not as you may think, a descendant of the carnasaurs, such as alasaurus. This makes it more closely related to the birds and maniraptorans, so inside every bird there is a T-rex trying to get out. There is a theory that the later feathered dinosuars, such as dynonichcus, velociraptor, etc, were actually flightless birds. This would explain how there was a bird, archaeopteryx, present in the easly createacous, yet the apparently obvious precursors of the avian line only appeared just before the end of the age of the dinosaurs.

Surely those words do not belong in the same sentence?!

my boy and me are making models now, we started when he was seven, nine now. Planes are good, but fiddly, we do Armourfast tanks, he can pretty much do all of that and paint it too, no windows, or defined lines.

We looked at Frog and Isla, nearly got the Frog, but it was the wider ratio cassette on the Isla and the screw on freewheel on the Frog that swung us to the Isla.

I found that once the cable gets sticky, that is the end of the shifter, they are practically unserviceable.
My lad has been running SRAM triggers on his Islabike since he was about six. Apparently young kids can’t do trigger shifts, he’s had no problems and claims to prefer them to Gripshift.

Be sure that you really need the 10km range, they will pick up lots of unwanted distant traffic. I use shorter range on rides, we are never that far apart.

As an ex owner of an auto Omega, the best car I’ve owned, Ok for 51 weeks of the year, then you walk.

Get some canopy glue for the clear bits, Revell Contacta with a needle applicator for the gluing (bin the squeezy tube), some Micoset and MicroSol for the decals, and Humbrol matt or gloss coat to finish it off.
The decals seem to be the problem for me, after returning to building models with my son, after a few decades off, the new decals just seem to fall off if you don’t faff with them.

Is £50ish cheap? Try Maisto Rock Crawler.

Be realistic with yourself about your likely range requirements, longer range is no always better, you get more traffic from other users.

Rivington, ride to the castle, throw stones in the lake, all a three year old would ever want

You could Coniston, alongside Yewdale road, through Low Yewdale to Water Head and back to Consiton along the lakeshore

Have a look at Roly Toys pedal tractors, well built and strong, lots of accessories, you have to put effort in to have fun, and it will probably be faster than an electric ride on.

Try Forest Classics, or Manor Models for the spares. You can get air adaptors if you want to test it, it’s only low pressure so not much can go wrong. If you don’t change the valves, you should at least put new fibre washers on it.
Forest Classics do a dynamo, if you want to drive something, I use the dynamo to run a small LED, bulbs need too much power. E-bay for used tools or workshop WS1, check out Wilesco for tools, they do the usual grinders, but the saws look good.

After three Islabikes, we nearly went for a Frog. Decided on a Isla Beinn 26 in the end, the gear range, a bit lighter and the freehub instead of a freewheel swung it.

Pooley Bridge would be good, as above, ride to the Cockpit, downhill all the way to Howtown, and catch the Steamer back.

From Coniston along the bridleway that runs parallel to the Yewdale Road, through Low Yewdale to High Water Head, alongside the road on the cycle track then around the Lakeshore back to Coniston via the Bluebird Cafe, and duck feeding.

Have as look for the Windermere Bike Boat, from Brockhole to the west side of Windermere. You could do the lakeshore path, or Wray Castle, Claife Heights, past the Tarns, to Sawrey (Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit), then back to the boat and play at Brockholes.

I used to my 93 Cindercone on Manitou Spyder R forks.
I still use the bike now, but for shorter rides with my son, I’ve refitted the original P2s, it rides great, really sharp steering, it will cover the same ground as my full usser, but slower. the only downside is that I would not want to ride it all day, a couple of hours is fine.

Perhaps the bike go out and ride it’s self, then all you need to do is upload the pics, the GPS and Strava?!

Fitted new inner and outer, the mech is about 6 years old, do the springs wear out? the mech does not seem to be sloppy or loose. the hager looks straight and in line with the gears.

My 8 year old is just going onto a Beinn 26, with 2″ tires and maybe some ex-retired Manitou forks, but how many of us have tall kids?! are they getting bigger? the age ranges don’t seem to apply any more.

and if you think Islabikes second hand price is mad, look at Star Wars Lego, our floor is littered with Lego Spaceships that would be worth much more than purchase price, if they’d stayed in the box, and these are less than two years old.

I’ve just ordered my boy his 4th Islabike, it was a harder choice this time, Frog was very close, it was the gear ratios, and the weight that decided it in the end.
