Thanks for the comments, this wasnt about my board but boards in general.

Took a couple of days to make, machine the strips, glue together, thickness, shape spray,

Here’s a piccy of that task.

A plank of plywood would work just as well.

The trucks and wheels were from the States, think I paid £70 ish.

Trucks are seismics, and the wheels are retro 70’s

Have seen and dealt with a couple of amputations on panel saws in my 9 years (am the shop first aider). The machinery is very dangerous so has to be treated with great respect, so to highlight Projects point, a decent machinery course would be a must.

As a side note one of the accidents was to a chap 8 weeks before he retired, who had worked in shops all of his life. He said afterwards he was thinking of the future not the machine at the time. He always did it that way, buy this one occasion a small lapse and 3 fingers gone. Very surreal being on hands and knees with the ambulance crew trying to find his fingers.

    I did this.

Did an NVQ II in Bench Joinery at the grand old age of 31 and swapped career. Booked into my local college and was planning on doing an ICT in Joinery (non voccational) the got made redundant 6 months before 2 year course finished and very luckily got a job in a boat builders as a joiner and they allowed me to do all of the vocational stuff at work. Ace.

You will never stop learning, every day is a school day. I make doors, galleys, lockers etc in multi million pound yachts, a lot of ply and veneers. But quite a bit of Teak work.

As a hobby I have made 2 guitars, which is where my heart now lies as a true career, but mortgage commitments dictate otherwise at the mo.

Hope this helps, if not ask more.

Veedubba I take it your not a very good engineer then to have this massive title issue.

Do you do a lot of willy waving in your office or are you a hands on nuts and bolts Engineer with letters after your name.

For my part I am a Bench Joiner, put myself through college in my late 20’s and would never be arrogant enough to call myself better or worse than anyone else in our shop. Especially the timed served lads with no qualification but are as equal to me if not better. Even the apprentices are allowed to come up with ideas that on occasion solve a problem so simply. Fresh set of eyes.

So to have the arrogance of not allowing someone to call themselves an engineer as they dont have the right qualification smacks of someone who at best is average at their job but due to a qualification considers themselves better.

To all the haters, this is ours and we love it

Makes clearing up after the dogs easy no more muddy mess in the house. No more cow meadow as an attempt at a lawn. We are a south facing garden so tended to have dead grass in the summer and mud in the winter.

We do have real grass elsewhere on the estate 😆 but love the ease of this bit. Did it primarily because of the dogs, but dont even notice if its real or not now.

Bike shop have been in touch with specialized and the part is £50 fitted so pleased with that. I also emailed Specializes who equally replied and knew about my order through Pitsford Cycles, so again was pleased with the speed of the service. Just to get the bike repaired now, as the old clunker is killing me.

Any clues on how to contact specialized, been all through their site, and cannot actually see how to ask a question, only answer previously submitted questions.

Got some photos taken today, and been for a ride in them. Really chuffed with them, will look at getting some genuine lenses at some point though.

    Case as it arrived

    Opened

    Contents

    Logo

Close up of Torx screw which on mine is metal screwing into the nut on the other side

And on, taken just before ride.

Having been on a ride with them I found them very comfy and the lenses seem ok, although I do plan to replace with genuine lenses at some point in the near future.

Am thinking of ordering another couple of pairs as spares.

Our attempt at a garden pond, we lost the garden wall at the bottom of the garden in some high winds. So had it rebuilt. Had some bricks spare and I got busy.

Quite pleased with it, have changed the filtering system now and it keeps crystal clear.
