All I will say on the subject is warranty.
Most manufacturers do not carry warranty onto second owners.
Why are the frames / bikes being split.

My voice of experience of second hand bikes.

My old toy, sold last year to help fund moving house.

Loved it, but equally was time to move on. Had it for 9 very fun years.

Will get another toy at some point.

Had one incident when a bloke got out of the van to have a go at me. He had overtaken me to have a go so had only seen me from behind. Was going up hill so hunckered down on bike. Stood up on pedals 6 foot and 14.5 stone. Think the bloke thought I might have been smaller as he just got straight back in the van and drove off. I did call him a **** though.m

No, it will move as per the seasons and heating. it is a natural product and will swell and contract due to the time of year. It is all part of the beauty of wood.

Im northamptonshire born and bred, not that bad, I really enjoy all the bridleways near me (kettering). I thought this was Single Track World not need to ride on a purpose build trail center world. There are always rides, you just have to explore and find them.

Not bike related, but explaining to my other half before we were married what Sex Wax was, not helped by the packaging stating ‘Rub it on yer Stick’

We laugh about it now, but.

A calm manner is very important, I am one of the first aiders at work, and have had to deal with amputation, machinery cuts, and a heart attack. An the thing which I theink has helped more than anything is to keep calm and reassure. With the heart attack when on the 999 call at no point did I let the patient know I believed he was having a heart attack. He may have suspected, but felt it was better to keep him calm and relaxed just very carefully described the symptoms and the operator asked me if I believed they were having a heart attack which I said yes.

It was a very intense period, but all was well in the end, although I effectively did nothing I hope a calm manner was as much a relief to the patient as anything else.

We glue 7mm skins onto a carcass to make door and use bog standard PVA. Never had a door fail yet, been making them for 10 years. Mind you the press is quite big.

Dont think an external door would be hardboard 😉

You can tape the veneer down if its on the edges of the door, If its on the face lay another door on top and some heavy items to hold it leave for a couple of hours, should be well stuck. A nice warm room would help.

I make guitars as a hobby as well and use PVA glue on veneers very successfully.

    PVA, cheap and sticks like.

Work in a joiners shop and the most popular glue by far.

Love that board psychobiker. Which woods have you used?

    (you taking orders?)

I have use maple and walnut sandwiched and maple and cherry sandwiched. Just used up some spare / scrap timber at work. Unfortunately they dont allow us to use the scrap anymore it has to be binned.

If I could get a supply, I would make more, think I did about 6 all in, My longboard, my daughters skateboard, 1 for a charity auction, and I sold a couple. still have one deck left, the one being glued in the pictures. If I remember I will get a picture to show you, with measurements.

Used cascamite to glue the laminations together. they are surprisingly strong and yet flexible without being sloppy.

Another one for over 40 as well.

Heres mine, not concaved but plenty flexible.

Great fun to make and ride.

The longboard is nearly 4 ft long.

My brother and I took it in turns to go and see our Dad in hospital, as it took 10 weeks for him to pass. We had some hard times, light times and I value those times dearly now when I look back. We didn’t know he was dying so the conversations were slightly different. However on his last night I still believe he knew as I had the weirdest conversation ever.

Sorry for rambling and doesn’t help the OP.

    Sorry

unfortunately not, my LBS ordered and fitted the part using my chassis / frame number as an identification.

    psychobiker

Its a specialized only part, only specialized dealers can get hold of them. cost me £50 fitted 2 months ago for this one.

Just noticed piccy, thats only the angle of the piccy, shock only touches hollowlink through the bolt hole. Am devestated atm.

Cash a bit tight and can’t afford a new frame, missus not happy if I’ve got to pay a further £50 to get replaced again.

TBH I did’nt think much to the welding on the new one, when it came back from the shop.

Rotten luck, installed by LBS, and its the original shock for the bike.

And guess what, the new one has fractured at exactly the same place.

hard to see, and not quite all the way around yet, have emailed Specialized to see what their thoughts are.

That frame number just doesn’t look right. I would expect something much neater and attached better, just more professional looking if it was from Aston Martin.
