I still get emotional when I hear smells like teen spirit. Remember the first time I heard it and thought this is life.

I will leave this to my daughter.

It is the first acoustic guitar I made. She is looking forward to owning it. A true family heirloom.

I sort of did this, I worked in engineering, started out apprenticed as a toolmaker, then got into production engineering. Was very disillusioned with manufacturing and decided to do an evening course at the age of 30. Did a basic carpentry course, found I really enjoyed so did 2 evenings a week for 3 years to get a qualification in bench joinery. 6 months before I was due to qualify I was made redundant, a local boatbuilder gave me a chance and even allowed me to change the qualification to an Nvq so properly recognised. I never stopped earning and didn’t have to live off apprentice wages. I’m 45 now and it was the best move I ever made (after getting married obviously).

    Cheers

So I’m the only one actually working, at work for 6.30, on bench by 7.00 work, make and modify shit, go home between, 5.30pm and 10.00pm depending on how urgent the delivery date is on the boat being built.

Never look at computer, closest I get to a pc is the display on the panel saw.

Thanks purist, its was awesome the first time I heard it, just wears thin after a while. We have a huge hawthorn hedge next to the house and always wondered if it perches there of a night.

Jabra Sports Pulse, very good earbuds with heart rate monitor built in. The sound is awesome, can’t speak all techy about base or anything as not a techyphile, but I am very impressed.

Was at a Mini do at Sandown Park, early January. Me and a mate were camping in the snow, whilst exhibiting his car we had jointly built. Think the organisers fely sorry for us, so let us use their lounge in the day to save us from freezing to death.

Anyway final day of the show and I’m sitting in the lounge on my own, when an oldish fella walks in and sits down. He starts up conversation and we have a good natter bout cars, shit and the weather. He loved it we were camping. Any way long story short, come presentation time this same fella gets introduced on stage to present the awards. It was John Cooper, who even gave a mention to his new mate he’d met in the lounge who was camping in the snow.

Never knew it was him, thoroughly nice bloke.

Obviously we cant condone riding the Hills and Dales, as certain areas are bike free, had some rare offs there though. Klunk, not sure where you mean, brain in overdrive here and I can’t think. I’ve been thrown off a few fields, whilst getting lost 😉

I must live in a totally different area to you lot, none of it is that bad. Every town has it’s bad points. All I will say is just check stuff out. I quite often go out riding to find new routes, down to the mines near twyford. Grafton Underwood and Geddington Chase. Fine shades, Wakerly woods. We know there are no mountains here so extreme riding is not possible, but still loads of fun to be had.

I’m a Burton Latimer lad, if you look hard enough theres load of singletrack, can’t believe the Finedon lot didn’t use the old railway line a stones throw from the cricket ground, up the slips to Harrowden, then more singletrack right into Wellingborough. Get the OS map and explore.

Fair point but a joiner will still want £100 plus for worktop joints, assuming he or she hasnt got to spend time re levelling the units or finding the units have not been scribed to the walls if they are not plumb, therefore throwing the worktop overhangs out. £150 a day for a kitchen, plus costs of cutters, and worktops destroy cutters.

It runs ok with the normal 13amp plug, just so long as I don’t flick it on and off repeatedly like an idiot, just had a look at the plate on the motor all it says is 3.00 HP 12.9 Amps. Will hopefully be seeing my electrician mate at the weekend so can ask him.

Just to let you all know, I fitted a plug and away it went, straight to 150 Psi, I just need to fit and adaptor so I can get a PCL fitting on and then away we go. Just one query, its fitted with a 20 amp internal fuse thingy and my plug is only 13 amp, have already blown one 13 amp fuse as it doesn’t like being repeatedly turned on and off. Can I just wire it straight into a fused spur off the ring main.

    Thanks

It took 6 months to make, as only had any spare time on it, timber was sourced from work, as left over or scrap pieces, which is why the neck is made of so many pieces, If you want to lose a few hours of your life full build is logged here,

    http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=611781

Really enjoyed doing it and hope to build more, as and when time and finances allow.

I don’t disagree that it is unregulated, however I fit kitchens as a qualified joiner, I have put right kitchens that so called kitchen fitters have fitted (guys who only do this). I do not think regulation is the solution, but maybe recomendation is the way forward.
