Regarding the verbal stuff, I know it’s not easy to do but you could always ignore it, let it go rather than let it play on your mind. Why make yourself suffer because they’re a ****t?
pslingFree MemberMy niece rides an Early Rider Belter 16.
Single speed, belt drive, relatively light weight. She’s been riding it since she turned 4 (she was on balance bike earlier). I think minimum inside leg is 450mm for the bike. She was clearing the little pump track at the back of cycle centre in FoD on it at 4 years old. Seems like a decent little bike.
pslingFree Member“psling to the forum please”
Hey Stu, ows thee acker cutting? I bin avin me a bit of a kip after I der yut zum fud mind. You’ll av’ta come down from thee wum and moot in the Vorest shag. Be a vyow dipple an strames ta get thee ridin ard.
pslingFree MemberJust checked our calcs at work for a 3m span bridge – 300mm x 150mm Beams (x2) and 300mm x 150mm Cross Braces (x4) bolted with steel plates. Usually spec’d as Douglas Fir, which has good strength.
That’s for Public Footpath specification.
You should be fine with what you’ve got for what you’re using it for. As someone above said, put similar section braces across between the beams to stop them from twisting (and maybe put up a sign saying “Bridge only to be used by persons that can swim”)
A little while ago there was a thread on here with someone who had a split purlin in the roof of their house; most answers were along the lines of “you’ll be fine, strap it together, glue it, put a couple of bolts in it”. You’re building a decorative bridge in your garden and it’s all *sucks breath between teeth* I wouldn’t do that…
pslingFree MemberLast nights episode mentioned ‘trail biking’ and the fact that some bike trails are covered by CCTV!!!!!”
Only the “muster points”!
And, £500 for a bike? – how much??!!?
I enjoy Vera, hm.

This is a 50 something little bloke in the car with what were probably his wife and grown up daughters.
Honestly, what goes through people’s minds?I think your answer may lie here. Long journey on busy roads with a car full of
womenback-seat drivers, and family at that..? Give the man a break, he probably needs it….pslingFree MemberI’d be flying into Inverness and will have 7-10 days to do it in. Can’t decide between hire car and accommodation or campervan/motorhome and campsites. Really want to drive Bealach na Ba but won’t be able to do it in anything larger than a T5 (or so I’m told).
Are you planning on driving it or riding it on a bike..?
pslingFree Memberthey’re due to turn up shortly
they are out for delivery now
Well, let’s hope neither of you have jumped the gun, update us when you receive your deliveries :?
Mind you, on the odd occasions I have used CRC their despatch and delivery has been excellent.
pslingFree MemberOP, might one ask where one got one’s forum name, given the content of your thread…

[so down to the lbs to get some ordered.]
By posting on here I assume you’re aware the internet will also connect to other sites, some of which will sell these shoes and post them to you.
This is a public service announcement…….Support your LBS  They can be really useful if you use them and get to know them.
pslingFree MemberThe fashion market is bigger than the specialist outdoor market so I guess you have to expect the outdoor gear manufacturers who want to survive and/or make bigger profits to go after the fashion label market, hopefully without losing sight of their original intentions. Small specialist brands also get bought out and absorbed into high street brands.
Karrimor, Rab, TNF, Barbour, Vango – all brands that have changed one way or another over the years, I’m sure there are many others.
FWIW, Arcteryx will be the next big must-have brand; if a company get their brand on Countryfile they’ve made it, so it would seem!pslingFree MemberMy wife ran off with a bloke with a Bentley. On the plus side though, my house feels bigger now…
pslingFree MemberTacky? Exploitation? The grid girls want to be there because they want to cop off with a driver. That’s objectification. They’re objectifying the male drivers as being suitably attractive and wealthy to be seen with to further their own status. The young, fit, attractive and wealthy drivers should be banned too if the grid girls are; you can’t have one rule for girls and another for men (gross generalisation based on most brolly dollies being female and most drivers being male in F1)
pslingFree MemberBlimey, thought I’d wandered on to a roadie site for a moment there. Still, I guess gravel is the new mtb…

I’d do anything at all if it meant I could see mine and hear her voice:(
You hope to do your best for them really; even when they grow up, they’re still your kids. Grandkids are great too, plus you get to give them back.
ps, my youngest girl’s instrument of choice was the drums, flute would have been heavenly…
pslingFree MemberMumsnet did happen and he was amongst the raiding party…
There was another raiding party a few years back to a ‘bird fanciers’ website which nearly ended in tears. I believe they took offence, traced the links back here and threatened ST Towers with legal action if they didn’t put a stop to it.

As a point of order the p7 was never a xc bike. It was always meant to be ridden hard and other Orange bikes filled the xc position.Surprised to read this. They were incredibly popular in the xc scene back in the 90s. Regularly seen at xc events along with the Clockwork.

Excellent valve/tyre logo alignadge.curto80 – Member
Tyre logos centered over valves: excellent. You do realise the correct way is valve in line but opposite logo? Those tyres are 180′ out.

Pleased for you but doubt I’ll ever see Wales beat them
Can still just about remember the celebrations after Llanelli beat them. Tra-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-lee, Llanelli 9 New Zealand 3. Max Boyce was there apparently…
Anything is possible.
pslingFree MemberWhat exactly does “a sole a bit more enduro than trail” actually mean? Serious question.
pslingFree MemberHow about book a pod or ready-erected bell tent or similar for your first weekend outdoor family experience. Maybe not as cheap as a family tent pitch but a bit easier to cope with and no unnecessary expense on all the camping paraphernalia until you’ve decided family camping can be fun.
pslingFree MemberWhy would that make you feel “insignificant“. I’m sure you’re a worthy person too.

…and I’ve got a lot of bike and gear cleaning to do.Yes, it’s amazing how these close passes can loosen the bowels…
pslingFree MemberA person I knew was killed in similar circumstances some years ago. A large van driving behind him, not overtaking because the driver deemed it unsafe. A car overtook the van and had to pull in sharpish because of on-coming traffic. Hadn’t seen the bike in front of the van, pulled into the same space.
(Driver was convicted of careless driving but not dangerous driving because it was accepted that he couldn’t see the cyclist and the overtaking manoeuvre wasn’t actually illegal!).
I can understand your fear/anger.pslingFree Membermilky1980 – Member
I’m siding with Silverfish on this one.
The OP should be very well aware that the distribution of Fox in the UK has just gone through a messy and seismic shift, therefore delays or unavailability of parts are to be expected. From what Richie has said here it sounds like he tried to resolve the situation as best he could but just plain ran out of time, he can only but try! When things do go wrong it’s how a person/company responds that matters, I can’t see anything wrong with what Silverfish tried to do for you.The one thing it would appear that neither Silverfish not Richie did, despite all the above, was keep their customer informed of the situation.
Hopefully if anything is learnt from this by Richie it is the importance of good communication, keeping your customer informed and being up-front. Don’t promise what you can’t achieve, don’t then bullshit when the customer has to chase you. It is commendable that Richie took it upon himself (as a senior member of staff?) to resolve the issue but it would have seriously helped the situation if he had communicated what he was doing to the customer – in reality, all he did was what his staff should have done in the first place, pick the order and dispatch it.pslingFree MemberIt’s all part of a bigger long-term plan by women to take over parliament and run the country. Who ever thought to let women into the houses of parliament in the first place, eh?!? A flutter of the eyelids and man self-destructs.

Many are too quick to blame the yoof for fire raising. I’ve known all age groups and all social spectrums to be responsible for fire raising.
Had an email spat with Jeremy Vine (R2, daily mail presenter) when he blamed the Cutty Sark fire on “yobs”. I told him not to jump to conclusions before a proper investigation was carried out. But he kept on spouting the same old yobs. Took great glee in sending him the official cause was an electrical item.Probably bl00dy cyclists – bikepackers this time, irresponsibly lighting campfires. Wouldn’t happen if they had number plates.
pslingFree MemberI did. Top of the range bling.
26″ wheels, 1 1/8″ straight steerer, 3×9. At least it’s got disc brakes…
Worth beggar all these days but still a great ride 8)
pslingFree MemberI was left wondering why they didn’t go out on to the roof terrace during the final visit. I imagine the ‘door’ may cause ongoing issues given the weight and angle.
He is a bright lad and was pushing boundaries from a position of no training or experience in building design which made for interesting viewing; once he got the right team around him they seemed to be very tolerant of him too! He did well. Glad to see his partner felt a small bit of ownership in the project (although I think the term ‘ownership’ was lost in translation during that little conversation).
Wonder what that property would be worth on the market now? Even going well over budget I should think it was a good investment.

Hopefully there’ll shortly be no distinction between FPs and BWs in Wales – I trust everyone is supporting the British and Welsh cycling access campaign? And I trust no-one is jeopardising the Welsh cycling access campaign by jumping the gun and alienating mtbers
With so much good riding in the area (as long as you’re prepared to put in the mileage) why on earth would you want to ride on what is probably the single busiest bit of footpath in the whole National Parc?!
Mind you, if you’re starting from Storey Arms and heading east you’ll maybe be walking mostly anyway… :lol:pslingFree Membertdog – Member
… perfect the art of pace or just tell yourself sod this and pedal like speedy Gonzales.Ratio question as I’m running a 34T ring vs 19T rear on hardtail mtb, am experiencing it recently to be a pita to climb steep hills.
Sounds like you need gears!!
What size wheels? There is no shame in running a gear combo that suits you rather than any perceived fashion. Try a 32 on the front, see how you get on but you’ll be doing more of the speedy Gonzales! Chop and change ’til you find your ratio. I have a range of chainrings and cogs that have been changed from time to time to suit how I feel or where I’ll be riding.
pslingFree MemberNow I am fast approaching 50 I was thinking of seeing my doctor about having a health check every 6 or 12 months including doing a bloods work, to see if I am deficient in anything and to see off any early health problems. I know I can get it done for free every 3 years, but paying for it more frequently is probably a better investment than most of the stuff I waste my money on.
I went to see my doctor when I reached 40 for a health check; it was being promoted in gov’t. adverts in those days and it was in the days when you had a regular family doctor. He asked me a couple of questions: how are you feeling? any recent problems? and then sent me on my way with a cheery “come back if you’re feeling poorly”. That was twenty years ago now and, other than hospital visits for specific illnesses/injuries, I still haven’t gone back yet for my health check up!
No supplements for me btw, just an unhealthy unbalanced diet and an active lifestyle.pslingFree Memberjonnyboi – Member
So it’s presumably ok to replace enormous penis with, bigger lips, a wider nose, or curlier hair without being racist, no?
Oh dear. That is probably a racist comment because it could be construed that by your implication you are stereotyping that those attributes are both negative and specific to black people.
pslingFree Memberhodgynd – Member
Mike ..you still haven’t answered my question ..so let me simplify things for you ..
If a black person makes a comment to another black person that would be deemed racist if said to that black person by a white person ..is that still a racist comment ?
A very simple yes or no will suffice .
Thanks !I would have thought the simple answer is ‘possibly’ or even ‘probably’!
ps I am not Mike…
pslingFree MemberTom B – Member
Psling how the **** can a song/chant about a black footballer be racist against white people?Well, it very much depends if the chant is meant to be supportive or derogatory of the player. If it’s supportive then I’m sure it’s not intended to be racist against the player so it’s like mikewsmith says “As said, it’s making assumption that is the problem here, reinforcing stereotypes etc.
pslingFree Memberkennyp
…and it become fairly obvious that black people are generally better runners than whitesInterestingly, in sprint events and in long distance events yes but not so obviously in middle distance events eg 800m, 1500m (generalising too!)
pslingFree MemberI’m confused by the original controversy.
Is it racist to black males because it stereotypes them as being well endowed or is it racist against white males because it suggests they may not be as well endowed? Or is it racist to anyone offended by it because they are, well… offended by it?With regards to the various sports dominated by one evolutionary trait over another, swimming is another example. I’m sure a lot of sports people develop in a particular sport as much to do with socio-economic reasons as physical reasons and a lot of top sports people do tend to be from more developed countries where sport is better supported and funded. Equally, exceptional talents from less developed countries tend to be adopted into developed countries to further their journey to the top.
