All will no doubt be revealed when the lights come on.

Can’t see any mega output lights on the bikes or pedal reflectors…

    Surface = granite setts (cobbles).
Quintana has both but KoM is more senior award.

    Lower gears…

Depends on how big the slope. If using panels you can either step them or put in ‘gravel boards’ (usually 22mm x 150mm timber boards) under some of panels as necessary. If building a closeboard fence you can run it to the slope (or step/gravel boards as per panels).

The irony of reading this whilst watching the Tour de France live on UK terrestrial television… 8)

Highways Authority and Police clearances are obtained and warning signage is put up. Doesn’t do any harm to remind some other road users that they share the road with another increasingly popular mode of transport.

Having said that, I kind of know what you’re saying. I reckon the bubble will burst over the next few years and the large number of new events will no longer be commercially viable and we’ll be back to the established events only. Maybe…

Be good to see Cav maintain his run of wins in Paris and he has the experience albeit with a different lead out this year but he knows where he needs to be coming round the final bend; other teams will have studied the line into that bend but Cav will want his train to be there first.

Cheers for another excellent effort this year RealMan. Same time, same place next year? 8)

As others have said, a ‘panel’ would usually be 6ft or some are 1.8m.
3m would be a Closeboard (featheredge board) ‘bay’ – the post to post centre dimension – which would be constructed in-situ. and the last bay would be conztructed to suit the remaining gap.
If you are planning to use panels, the last panel can be made to measure or altered on site to suit.

Having a coversation with him is exactly the same; he talks just as he writes :D Infact, he rides much the same too! He knows what he’s doing and saying and if you analyse it enough it mostly makes a lot of sense. Now, must go and lick a stick-on tat… 8)

Ah, Saracens Head, great pub. Pete the MTBing landlord had a little off a couple of weeks ago.
v666em – possibly Sam, the one doing the talking; he’s local and takes some keeping up with going up or down.

Sadly the Parrot trolling thread has gone as it was old forum. I have never laughed so much in my life and wish I’d kept the subsequent email ticking off from Chipps.

That was a good one. Didn’t the ‘other forum‘ get in contact with STW via their legal team or something over that one?

This is the big one today; after the Pyrenees ‘morning after the day before’ Sky performance it will be interesting to see how much Froome’s support team took it easy yesterday and how much he is attacked by other GC contenders’ teams today.
The descent is only too dangerous if you’re going too fast! Bring on the excitement!!
It’ll be pretty much all over by tonight… 8)

Another thing to consider is that your helmet isn’t too tight, especially as your bonce heats up and swells. Might sound obvious but, hey, people do overlook or aren’t aware of certain things 8)

Well, fair-dos to Froome, a cracking ride under the cicumstances; he neutralised all efforts to break him in the end.

And well done to Dan Martin!

RealMan – Porte seemed to be a bit slow out of the blocks this morning and then when Kennaugh got taken out he, Froome & Kennaugh were all seperated. Kennaugh got back with Porte but couldn’t stay with him to chase down Froome, Porte didn’t have the legs to catch Froome alone.

Seeing the way Quintana blew up yesterday Froome may indeed be better off letting him go to limit the damage to himself but without team-mates around him he may not be able to reel him in on the descent.

Yeah, but what about the one today starring hora in a Virgin Trains ad…

Pete Kennaugh was clipped and ended up off the road and down a bank; back up and riding but obviously got separated from Froome. To be fair, could have happened at any time to anyone.

A very nieve defense from froome,

In the Froome v. Wiggins debate I would say that is one area where Wiggins has the edge.

[conspiracy theory]was Kennaugh taken out deliberately? [/conspiacy theory]

If I could offer you only one tip… sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

Sometimes I change the radio station which requires that I take my eyes off the road for a moment. That’s not bad driving, that’s normal

Well, you’re half right; it is bad driving to take your eyes off the road to perform an unnecessary task but it does seem to be normal. And therein lies the problem – most drivers are of the opinion that it is normal to perform tasks other than driving whilst driving (and that includes me I’m sorry to say).

You can travel a long way at speed when you take your eyes off the road “for a moment”.

Despite my belief that it is not a road that kills or injures you, it is the people using it carelessly or dangerously that do, there can be cases where cyclists are restricted when there is a suitable and convenient alternative (for example, the Golden Valley bypass between Gloucester and Cheltenham where there is a TRO prohibiting cyclists). My main concern though is that drivers would then be encouraged that cyclists can be legally removed from any road where drivers are too irresponsible to drive with due care and attention. Drivers need to be aware that roads are not just for motor vehicles and this needs to be reflected in the courts when judgements are made.

You’re not allowed to ride on a motorway so no, you wouldn’t ride on a motorway and, to be fair, a driver on a motorway wouldn’t expect to see a cyclist there either. However, on a road with no TRO restricting use by cyclists then a driver should expect to see cyclists and drive accordingly. It’s no good making up your own laws and saying cyclists shouldn’t be there, and you shouldn’t be driving as if it’s a motorway when it is not.

Sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased.

But surely local estate agents would have knowledge of what’s selling locally and would advise an asking price accordingly. They won’t earn commission on houses that don’t sell because they’ve pitched the value too high.

Have you had it valued properly? And I’m not talking about an agent doing it.

Serious question: given that a lot of agents have Chartered Surveyors, who would you get to value a property properly?

I’d agree that some of the advice on here has been good but it’s time to get the professionals acting on your behalf now otherwise you and she will just be bunging emails to each other without getting anywhere. At best she is scared of being scammed and is getting poor advice off friends/internet; at worst she is trying to weasle her way out of it. If neither of you hand it to insurance co/solicitor then nothing will get resolved. Time to be pro-active and take proper advice.

This seems rather heavy handed and unnecessary, if she does intend to settle outside of her insurer then it’s going to substantially add to the final bill.

I would suggest that the time has come to look after your own interests, not worry about hers.
