I’ve gone to Hope ceramics and it’s a real improvement in durability. First set has been going for 9 months and still feel good. I’d already upgraded to the BETD bearings which were doing 3-6 months.

Hehe. Yes, I’ve had a roadie tyre do this on me as I was inflating it – seriously loud bang. Since then I have taken a bit of care when fitting which is why I just don’t get it.
Off to fit a new tube now with ear defenders on 😆

Currently voodoo in first place, closely followed by Oldgit’s suggestion as about the only logical explanation but not sure as hand pumped etc.
Just glad it didn’t do it whilst barrelling downhill 🙁

Hehe. You wait until you see what we have in the studio. 😀

And the new L538/Evoque is looking very sharp without the camouflage paint.

Broke my Mount Vision just like that East Peak and got a new frame for free. The newer frames have much more material around the b/b joints – there must have been quite a few of the early ones came apart !

they are not at all bothered about their members loosing their jobs, having their pensions rights changed, having their salaries frzxen whilst inflation rises

Er, remind me what’s been happening to employees in the private sector, which actually pays for all this, over the last couple of years.

Biking and windsurfing. If it’s calm, I’m happy. If it’s windy, I’m happy. 😀
(and running, swimming, circuits stuff too)

    Middle aged ? Meh.
I’m 54, but enjoying life like a 30 year old. I still don’t believe our first child got married last summer.
Luckily my body keeps doing it’s bit but I do dread a serious injury/illness. Getting back up could be tough.

Zinger, I have a friend who lives in Denver who does loads of riding and may be a useful contact. He’s always up for an adventure !

GP for me too, original diagnosis and ongoing maintenance. Did see an endocrinologist once for an investigation into whether my adrenal gland was involved in the plapitations, but a null result.

I made chilli at lunchtime for a last minute party for 12 and it’s been gathering flavour nicely, and there’s still a pile of Hooky in the garage, so I think we’re sorted. 😛

Trailrakers doing it for me so far. The only falling off I did today was into big piles of snow. Love it 😀
The main roads are clear, the minor roads are very dodgy but most have a crushed snow section down the middle that’s good to ride on. I sorted a route with road uphills and off road downhills.

Mine’s doing the same at the mo. I think it’s just the cold. Having a load of snow packed into the block cuts out most of the racket from the feehub too 🙂

I normally get this too, but not this winter. Not doing anything different so can’t explain it. My first aid is vaseline too.

We let the Waitrose van battle through the snow to get here on Tuesday. Why bother going through all that hassle ? Van arrived just as I was off biking. Left the Mrs to do the hard work…

Shame the Beeboid can’t leave out the usual crap about AGW in what should be a good news story about a major british manufacturer and exporter.

Still got half a tank of really cheap oil I bought off a neighbour when he was ditching oil heating – I got ours full to the brim. I had hoped we would see out the winter, but not at the current rate of burn 🙁

Seriously looking at pellet burners, but they’re a bit pricey. Worth it in the long run I guess. I’m doing garage mods to get ready for it (and improve the bike storage of course 😉 ).

It’s a week off work so time for even more biking, esp good if it’s going to be snowy 😀
As for the rest of it, meh.

The hunt can trash a section of bridleway in a matter of minutes.
You can ride it when it’s frozen, but it’s not comfy on a f/s either.

But nice to be out in a bit of snow anyway. Only 1″ so far in the Shire, but it’s still fun 😀

I always get grief from the doctors on this too. Age 54, HR low 40s, BP 120/80, and they keep trying to give me pills for it. No thanks.

Me, hopefully for the better. We went through all the changes we need to as a family already. Less of our money now to be pissed up against the wall – but not much less.

Trailrakers for me in the Cotswolds. I put them on a few weeks ago when it looked like autumn had arrived, but it’s been mostly dry ever since. I know what will happen if I change back to summer tyres….

More thoughts. I was diagnosed correctly by my GP in about 20 minutes, confirmed by blood tests. As you’ll probably know this is an auto immune condition, but there are often other factors. For me it came on a short while after my dad was killed in a car crash, and I’ve always thought there was a stress ralated element. And one of our daughters developed vitiligo in her teens – another autoimmune condition often related to hypothyroidism.
Active life ? That’s me. Windsurfing today all being well 8)

Sorry to hear about this, and I’m a bit late joining this thread. I had complete thyroid failure when I was about 28, and the symptoms talked about here bring it all back. I remember being fat and yellow too ! But the good news is that I have now been on a stable dose of 175mg for 25 years, we got this dose right after about 3 months, and I now have a blood test every 6 months and nothing changes. Interested in the mentions of palpitations as I developed this in a mild form after about 5 years, but after extensive diagnosis we concluded it was not a serious issue. I get a spell every once in a while when exercising, and it passes in about a minute typically. I’m so used to it I know now before it’s going to happen.
My experience over the long term is that my body goes through about a 6 week cycle, varying from feeling supercharged to run down.
But over the years this condition has not stopped me exercising at extreme levels – as a competitive rower, runner, traithlete and biker. It does work best when I compete when I’m on a metabolic high though 😆

I looked in detail at solar pv during the summer and chose not to go with it. The case is totally reliant on continued government (i.e. our) financial support, and if things get sufficiently crappy that will not survive, and could change substantially in the review due in 2013. Also, I have had contact with someone locally who was getting way below the specified output, even during the really sunny May/June this year(remember that ??).
I support the idea, and have had solar thermal for over 20 years, but I’m waiting for a few more generations of pv panel technology, and increased production volumes, to make it financially sensible.
Oh, and re the OP, if you want to do this I don’t think you need someone to broker it for you unless you can’t raise the cash.

Ditto the The Cycle Studio in Stratford. They rebuilt one for me few weeks back, and even retuned it for free after a big hit on the way down Croix de Fer gave it a slight wobble.

Mike Vaughan in Kenilworth or Cycle Studio in Stratford. I use both and very happy with them.
