As usual the MSM are way behind the curve on this. Good to see that the government have now caught up too and we may get some action. Read Guido’s blog for where the exposure of the “Pilgrims” started.

We’re off to Cornwall for a wedding – so I’ll be mostly windsurfing like bikebuoy 8)

Yep, had some really good riding going on for a while now, but had a crap ride today. Twatted my neck somehow last night and had a very uncomfortable hour riding when the sun came out this afternoon. Cut it short and went home. Better be fixed tomorrow as it looks like a good week of windsurfing coming up 8)

News from Sydney. England U18 squad today completed a 3-0 drubbing of the Aussies, winning the last game 46-19. A good friend’s son is out there and has won his first cap. 18 years old, 6’8″, 100Kg. Scary.

Can I be lazy and post this old classic: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/6baae272e0/tow-in-bike-jump-fail
    Epic fail

One of my small claims to fame. When we were having trouble conceiving number 2 we went thru a number of tests and I set a record high score for sperm count. Not sure what they were counting but it put a spring in my step 8)

“…therefore reducing the electricity bills of some of the poorer people in society…” which is being paid for by the other poorer people in society with inflated energy bills to cover the subsidy.
I looked very hard this. I could afford to do it, have got a favourable location, but (a) don’t believe the subsidies will survive (as “copper-bottomed” as other political commitments) (b) don’t think I should be sponging off people less well off than me to get an investment return (c) am waiting for several more generations of technology before it really pays for itself (d) think the energy market is going to go haywire when the AGW bubble finally bursts.

Nice sunny day for riding though 😀

Still dusty dry in the Shire. What a lovely summer harvesting evening ride tonight 😀
I think/hope the Trailrakers will be in the shed for many weeks to come.

Mine jammed open last weekend. An easier fix luckily as you can get the latch off in about 5 mins and lube the cable end to free things up. I think it may become a regular maintenance thing. Crap design detail (love the vehicle though – perfect for our needs)

If I was here I’d be windsurfing
But I’m flying to Oz 😀
So mostly I’ll be sitting in an aeroplane 🙁

An emotional day for me as I worked on the first few launches. Seems like yesterday.

I blame the government spending cuts.

I feel your pain binners. I used to trash external b/b with BETD bearings every 3 months or so. I moved up to Hope ceramic a year ago and I’ve been impressed but I think it’s now dying based on the creaking – it gets one more clean and grease and then it’s getting a rebuild.

Absolutely. We’ve had one for a few years now. Very fast heating and immediate adjustment.

Respect to those that went for it. I do like this event, but no way in this weather. I’ve done them all except last year (son’s wedding is a fair excuse I think) and usually come back sunburnt 😳

We were going to do the Rough Ride. Er no thanks.
It’ll be ride or swim later depending on the weather state.
    Meanwhile, work (=cash 🙂 )

    sorry, forgot about this thread
we ride at all sorts of times, but try to get a regular Tuesday night at 6 starting from Tysoe church and ending at Whatcote/Oxhill/Shenington/Castle pub depending on route

There’s a nice (and rare) piece of rideable Coast Path between Lee and Ilfracombe, and you can come back around on an old railway line, which is not as bad as it sounds.
Oh, and a decent waterside pub at Lee as I remember.

A local thread indeed. I live in Oxhill and ride with mates from here and Tysoe. There’s a few cheeky runs around Edge Hill, and loads of decent trails – especially in this ultra dry weather.
We normally go the Cotswolds when we need a change of scenery.

Just spent 2 hours getting rid of a creak on my Mount Vision that’s been getting a bit loud. Fettling all the joints made no difference, then had the BB apart for a clean and we’re back to silent running.

High 5 4:1. The bars are good too. You may have to try several brands to find one that your stomach will be happy with when the stuff gets going.

Too much tarmac ? A bit of local knowledge needed 😉
Lots of options today to do the distance but ride on concrete mud rather than tarmac. Same difference really…

100K for me. Top event again. How many years have I done this thing ? Can’t even remember. Perfect weather and a few interesting new pieces on this year’s route. That climb will get revisited !

A big thank you to all the organisers from me too.

The first hill will be a complete log jam if it’s anything like normal, and the field will open up after that. Relax and enjoy it, it’s going to be a great day out with plenty of other climbs to have a go at 😀

After a frantic effort to get new pedals today after one fell apart last night, I’m on. Looks like a bluebird day like 2007 when there were comedy tan lines a-plenty by the end of the day. That climb up from Laverton at 80km is going to be fun in the early afternoon sun 🙁

So did I. That is, we all got back the two year voluntary pay cut we took two years ago to keep the company in business. The bleating public sector can go whistle as far as I’m concerned.

My Trailrakers came off two weeks ago. It’s like summer in the Shire. I’m loving the feel of riding on the bald remnants of last summer’s rubber. Just need to decide what to buy… 😕

Wisdom tooth abscess while on holiday and unable to get anything stronger than paracetamol for three days. I understood why dentistry is used in torture 😥
When I finally got onto morphine based drugs it was bliss.

We’ve got a 2.0D auto with lots of gadgets. Swallows loads of gear (bikes/windsurf), 5 people very comfortably, 7 ok but really it’s only for kids in the back row except for a short trip. I had four galaxies previously and it’s not much smaller but a much nicer drive. I’ll be getting another one.
