I’ve had one a few years currently running Hooptie with a Rohloff and Bafang BBSHD 1000w hub gear. Use it for taking the children out to the park, etc, shopping and commuting on when the weathers really bad.
Any hill or headwind made it very hard work with the kids on the back – pedal assist transforms it!
I’ve added bafang motor to my surly big dummy and it’s brilisnt. Regularly use it to carry 3 kids in the back in the hooptie.
Use it for shopping and commuting to when the weather is rubbish
Let me know if you want any more info or photos
She could try running up to piccadilly station and getting on the Ashton canal (not Rochdale) and running down to the Veledrome and back (or keep on going) its more flowing than going the other way towards Castlefield etc -the canal towpath is currently closed near Deansgate station
I currently run wtb byways which are 47mm and I’ve previously used maxxis refuse which are 50mm. That’s about as big as you could go at the rear – more room on the front fork
I’ve had a pickenflick for a few years now and run it several ways. I thought the ride improved dramatically when I went to 650b x 47. I think this is because 700c wheels with big tyres start to get a bit heavy/unwieldy above 33ish. my winter single speed niner rlt runs 650b x 38 GRavel kings which are great as quite abit lighter.
Mine is a 53cm small frame so this may be why the small diameter wheels work better?
Surly Big Dummy with a Hooptie on the back – I carry a 3 year old and nearly 5 year old easily – even better now I’ve installed crank based Bafang motor
I’ve rented out my widebeam boat out thorugh AirBnb since April, link below. There is more to do than a traditional agent, you have to answer any questions about bookings, etc but that is easy enough. But they sort out the deposit and payment which I get through a few days after they have stayed
Let me know if you have any more questions
Tyres are Maxxis Refuse 2.0 tubeless, I wanted the WTB Horizons but couldn’t find any in stock. approz 10mm clearance each side at the back and loads on the front.rides great, just a bit slower to get up to speed but floats over everyting with the correct pressure
I’ve just gone through the same situation with my springer, he was 11 years old and I’d had him since he was 7 weeks, he was my best friend. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but it was the right thing but that doesn’t make it any easier.
just make the most of the time you have left and remember the good times
I’m looking to sell my 54cm tripster, used for one winter (approx 2500miles)
frame set or full build – rs685,6800 groupset, pdw, etc. I’ll post an ad in the classifieds soon but if anybody is interested drop me an email
ive put an ad for a pair of plus tyres in classifieds if anyone is interested… WTB trailblazer & maxxis chronicle
wtb fits fine with loads of room in rear of a Karate Monkey
I used them all last winter on my tripster – best I have ever used/installed. I need the longer rear stays though. cheap(er) at Triton at the moment to.
I think the league tabe was a fair indication of the performance of both teams over the season. Trying to be unbiased (assumming de gea has gone) I think there would only be rooney who I would want in the Liverpool team (and maybe the manager)
I know I’m going to regret this but what did mufc actually win last season? And if Liverpool were ‘tonked’ by Villa and Stoke how does that compare to what Everton and Wimbledon did to MUFC…
It Was via PM after he deleted another Sale thread because I hadn’t locKed the old one. I Asked him nicely why he couldn’t havE asked me to because I’d assumed the old thread had expired (6 weeks old) he quipped some smart reply apart fools and assumptions!
Be interesting to find out his actual name…
my large cross jersey arrived this morning but I’m not to sure about it so I’m going to send it back. If anybody is interested (lunge – I couldn’t find your email address but you have first option) let me know.
Its free to return so would need postage covering plus cost of jersey – £55 plus postage or collection manchester city centre during the day
no worries, think it was £6. m5 stainless steel spacers 12.6mm long off ebay help with fitting the rears (I’ve used plastic ones temp till they arrive)
I fitted PDW fenders to my ATR (54cm)but had to order the extra long stays (rear) as they wouldnt fit otherwise.
Great now they are fitted, had to make a bracket for the front to get it low enough and fitted spaces at the rear (10mm) to get the rears to fit better. Oh and a spacer to clear the disc brake (front I think)
I Know what you get as I’ve got them on my tripster. For clarity I Would buy rs685 shifters and rs785 calipers, I would then buy 105 mechs, chainset and cables separately. The shifting on 6800/5800 is vastly improved on previous versions
If it was my money I would spend the extra £100. Decent cable could cost £50ish and you will still be faffing with them. I would prefer 105 and 685 than ultegra and spyres especially on a fairly weighty frame…
