Just over £70 a rim gets you the Easton ARC 30 – very impressed with mine (650B) so far. Have been to BPW, the Tweed Valley plus all of my normal Peak District riding and apart from a couple of small scratches they look like new.
They seem to be a good compromise of strength, weight and cost.
My set is actually the Heists which are a fully built wheel set using Easton straight pull hubs etc. Only difference in the rims is that the Heists are 28 hole and the ARCs are 32 hole.

Have had a Slaughter on the rear of my Anthem and a Rock Razor on the rear of my Reign for over 2 months now – once you’ve learned to brake properly and not rely on the rear then they’re all good :D

Anyone ever cover the tailplane in glue, set fire to it then throw the plane out of a bedroom window pretending it had been shot down?

Even better was to sellotape a banger to it and lob it out of the window :D

In terms of return on investment, these bib shorts by Tenn have been absolutely superb.

Well-placed padding; good fabric and stitching… Mine have now done 1000s of kms without a snag.

Look like good value and a good recommendation – let’s see :-)

Sorry, but everyone’s pussyfooting around the real issue – clear out the tat!

It’s either that, or the body-heat generated by the bazillions of grey army that visit your shop on a daily basis.

Response from mojo – the travel on my forks can’t be increased

What model year have you got? Mine’s a 2014 and it is possible.

Check the serial No. on the forks (back of the crown) and if the number after the T is a 4 – e.g. mine are 12T4 – then they can be increased.

You need a new air shaft (Part No. 11.4018.021.000) and then a new SID rebound damper and seal head assy (11.4018.025.002) to get to 120mm travel (without it you can only get 110mm).

Will cost less than the new Reba RLs that you were talking about earlier….

Contrary to adsh above, I haven’t noticed any downsides to the change – although my other bike is a 160mm Reign, so I’m used to climbing with a slack head angle.

Here’s the definitive thread on what can be done to your Reba RLs:

Ah, forgot that some versions had Fox fitted as std.

Don’t forget you’ll also need to get a new stem.

By the way, the change to 120mm is well worth it for the downs and I can’t notice any negative effects on the ups

Has it already got 100mm Reba RLs on?

I went through the same thought process for my Anthem X, but then got my mate Rick Draper of Slick and Slide Suspension to upgrade the 100mm Reba RLs to 120mm, upgrade to RCT3 spec, as on the SID and upgrade the rebound circuit with the latest DIG Valve.

So, basically, I’ve got the latest internals in my fork for a whole load less cost than the £540 for a new 120mm SID. And I didn’t end up with a set of 100mm Reba RLs that I couldn’t sell or use for anything else because of the stupid steerer

Oooof – I didn’t see it, but I heard it from track-side as I was taking a breather.

The footage explains the sound that I heard quite well :D

I’ve never even thought that anyone would think about having a cover!
IMHO no need, if you’re going out on a ride, then the bike will get dirty when you ride it and if you’re on the way back from a ride, then the bike might get a free wash…

Found it to be fine on the front, over winter, on a Der Baron Projekt – in the Peak.

Not sure I’d trust it on the rear though – it’s only Specialized Grid or Schwalbe Supergravity for me on the back now.

Just fitted a Slaughter Control onto the back of my 29er, rolls really well and grips fine. It’s a true 2.3″, so good volume and Specialized tyres are good value too :D

Edit – I wouldn’t put it on the front though!

    Yes!
My new Reign came fitted with a Magic Mary but it just didn’t fill me with confidence – didn’t shed mud very well (probably my fault for not going quick enough) and it felt like low grip to me on wet roots.

I’d had an old Baron on my last Reign and loved that, so plumped for a Baron Projekt and I love it – much wider spaced knobs, so sheds mud well and grip feels great. Also felt great on bone dry, rocky, trails on Sunday – that was going to be its last outing as I was going to swap it for a Butcher Grid for the summer but with the rain we’ve just had it’ll be staying on for a week or two more. :|

Anyway, long story short = recommended!

Complete and utter lack of match-fitness

Plus you probably didn’t spot the smooth line until you’d gone past it – on the left most of the time until the gate and then absolutely as far over on the right as possible, most of the rest of the way…..

The Macc forest classic would suit, with pints at the cat n fiddle.

Closed at the moment, with no indication of when it’ll be open again – I’d plump for The Stanley Arms (just a bit along from the end of The Bottom of the Oven descent).

Upper body and core is fine and technical, steep climbs have never been an issue.

Based upon my experience this weekend at Vallelujah, I think that going down those technical, steep climbs will be better practice for a Tweedlove event :D

I bet everyone riding wished that the event was actually today (we had a stunning dry day ride in the ‘valley’ today), and not on the second of two forecast very wet days…

Ha! Just got up here after a lovely, completely dry, drive up from Manchester – hoping against hope, perhaps they’ve got the forecast wrong?

Anyway – what will be, will be – I’m still very much looking forward to riding these famed trails

I’ll be starting stage 5 apparently. And starting the day helping Hels polish roots or water the mud or something.

Good, at least at the start there’s slightly less chance of you seeing me:

    1. Fall off
    2. Come to a complete stop in bewilderment
    3. Hug a tree
    4. Cry like a baby, asking for my Mummy

    See you there :D

Think I’m marshalling so I’ll shout some abuse at you Proutster, it’ll be just like old times.

Great! Let me know whereabouts you are and I’ll try to throw some straight back – although that involves multitasking and that’s usually where things go wrong

Very much looking forward to this now!

If anyone spots an Audi driving, all-the-gear-no-idea, enduro colorway-clad fool on a snot green Giant Reign then say Hi. I’ll feel a little less Billy-no-mates then :D

32 hole on some 26″ rims and 28 hole on some 29″ rims – all work fine.

In reality I probably thrash the 29ers more as they’re on an Anthem and I often forget to remember that it’s only got 100mm of travel

I think you’d have to be pretty tuned-in to notice any difference on a given rim – are you tuned-in, man?

Ooooh, can I come as it’s just round the M60 from me?

You’ve seen my mad skillz at a couple of BMX nights, but as it’ll be my first MNPR outdoor ride go easy on me

Does the route best suit a 160mm Gnarpoon FS or a 100mm XC FS?

I’m currently running a WTB vigilante in TCS Tough, Fast Rolling on the rear for exactly that as I’m at Tweedlove too :D

Also just fitted a Conti Der Baron Projekt onto the front in anticipation of the mud.

Although, thinking about it, I’m not sure if either of those are available in 26″ flavour (mine are 27.5″) – so apologies if I’ve been completely unhelpful

And, by the way, IMHO a Shorty is worlds better than a Minion in the mud.

To me the Tough feel much more like a Schwalbe Super Gravity casing rather than a Maxxis EXO casing – much thicker.

    EDIT – too slow
