I used to, until the morons on this very website ruined it for me.
    Poor you.

Left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
Perhaps it’s the guilt that’s doing that?

oh well I’ll have to stick with proper racing for the year instead ( at least my liver and kidneys will thank me)
probably best you do. I hear that they’ve grossly underestimated the turbo/roller space required by you “proper” racers.

Saw something on Twitter last year talking about a WXWx3 attempt.

I’d guess April for this to get in pre-midge.

    Of course you will.

Seems to me then that there is a fixation with a notion that Scotland is seperate from the rest of the island.
I can’t see that from space, but hey ho.

Are you suggesting that countries need to be physically seperated (sic) to exist? How amusing. Although I suppose the Forth and Clyde plus Union canals do that job – might need a gigantic one of these to replace the Falkirk wheel though.

it’s like a mini Inners chairlift thread. but no less hilarious or indeed any more likely to happen.

rode the previous “DH” track when I lived up there. no offence to hopefiendboy and those that got off their arses to build it, but it wasn’t very good.

Where did the £9M come from? Proper public coffers?
A mix of funding, including disposal of other assets I’d imagine. Would love to see a full breakdown of costs right from the purchase of the original site to the doors opening, that way we could see how the budget jumped from £5m to £9m and see how much was paid for neighbouring properties / land (and why).

Are you breguding 9m spent on something worthwhile instead of 1k a week to keep some large families in accomodation in London?
It’s amazing how you’ve been able to overdeliver as a dafty year after year. Chapeau.

I think the fact that the building isn’t 10x over budget and also that it isn’t sinking into the ground.
Nope, but nearly twice the budget – £5m > £9m. You sweaty socks don’t seem to be too good at spending our money up there on building projects…

    aye, and the rest.

wonder if there is a final figure available which includes the total cost of the peel and other peel related purchases?

I think the concept of “red light jumping” is an excuse used by overenthusiastic poorly skilled cyclists to justify overenthusiastic aggressive riding and poor anticipation.

Ring any bells for anyone here?

I think the concept of ” accelerating out of trouble” is an excuse used by overenthusiastic poorly skilled drivers to justify overenthusiastic agreesive driving / riding and poor anticipation.

Guessing you’ve probably never even gone nightriding on your own, never mind tried it without lights, have you?

You’re right, I mainly stay in side wetting the bed when it is dark out.

Perhaps you could try using a series of mirrors to use the sun which you appear to believe shines out of your backside to light up the trails…

    yes, have done.
wouldn’t really class much trail centre riding as technical tho.

Indeed. GW iz sick wid the skillz and he ride by sense of smell*.

If we’re honest, the bigger issue here is the use of a full face helmet at GT.
Can’t be too careful, you might trip over your mound of body armour in the car park.

My rubbish reply was, that I don’t intend falling off.
And yet you’re wearing a full face helmet for mincing about on XC trails…

Even if he didn’t actually do the crime he was executed for, there were probably plenty others that he got away with that this is sort of punishment for though…………
Is that based on knowledge of the case / history of Troy Davies or just a disgusting assumption?

Seriously? I don’t need to tell you about new trails planned, how about the new trail that’s already been built and opened since they came out with that one?
Yup. Go on. Tell me. Meaningful trail development, stuff that’ll see the increase in visitor numbers forecast.

I suspect the final result will be more skilled jobs, the bike shop is set up to be able to run more staff in the workshop.
You suspect? You suspect?! You are the one calling people liars here.

“No new trails at glentress”, remember?
So what new trails are planned?

    Local jobs to be lost?
What are the relevant figures then?

If you’re going to use a word like “lying” then you presumably have the evidence to hand, eh?

rghty. i’ve found a just out of date penguin in the biscuit box, so i’m in a less grumpy mood.

    1. don’t underestimate it just because it’s waymarked
    2. the shit section of loch lomond is between inversnaid hotel and inverarnan. it’s frustrating and gruelling – figure in ~3 hours
    3. fit a bell.
    4. if you’re doing it alone then work out your bail outs.
    5. fort william is a deeply depressing place.
    6. crianlarich probably about the right place to split a 2 dayer. it’s not a great deal less depressing than fort william.
    7. greet the ~1% of WHW users who know hee-haw about scotland’s wonderful attitude to access with a cheery smile (and a whispered FO).
    8. be aware that walkers listening to an ipod and wearing a goretex hood means that some won’t hear the bell you fitted (point 3) and won’t see you until your just about passed them.
    9. you’ll never want to see another kissing gate again.
    10. there’s no bike shop anywhere on the route.

I’m only asking for guidance as i have never cycled 90 miles before or for that matter have i spent 2 days in the saddle and thus i am trying to do a bit of forward planning
What it sounds like is that you haven’t actually done any research or even looked at a map before posting a series of questions which make you sound like you’re lacking in the experience required to do a long, sometime remote route.

I think i am reasonably fit just now and could probably go out and batter out 50 miles ok

as its the first time i’ll have done anything like this is there anything i might have missed?

I’d think very carefully before attempting it an day then…
