mental health charities,as a volunteer to see if its what you want, be a good listener have a sence of humour, be kind and sometimes firm. Training can be done in work,

Its a great feeling when you help someone, some say thanks some dont, also if in the nhs expect lots of grades and demarcations eg its your job not mine etc.

Worked in mental health for 6 years, patients where great management and some staff where a bit difficult.

Had a 2 lt white one vinyl roof and the fancy gear box, like sitting in a wheelbarrow when yu got in, so low and dodgy seats, huge long bonnet.

Reasonably fast but sliddy in the wet, beware of rusting internals o the headlights and dodgy electrics, mine melted some cables to the lights, a bottle of water put that out.

Some interesting answers, but what happens if a major generator goes bang, or a cold snap in all those electric homes at the same time, and not forgetting most new railway rolling stock locps and emus are now electric, as well as a lot of buses boris wants to be electric, all recharging overnight.

Lived there, most places seemed up hill, Rodborough common was flat on the top , Randwick was good for mud and trees trails, also between Cheltenham and Stroud,
Birdlip beacon as well, nice flat road bike ride from Stroud to Gloucester via Stonehouse the other way is all up steep hills. Also the ride to Bristol is interesting on a road bike.

It gets cold in winter and hot in summer with not much rain as far as i remember, freindly people, and a bit funky.

Which part are you moving to i lived in Cainscross.

Worked in one loft conversion fail, not my fail thankfully, roof window to high up the roof for the building control bloke so needed a step built under it, reduces the space, also no fire door either at top or base of stairs, again a closet had to be built at top of stars set back from top step as you cant open a door directly onto a top step, gable end window glazed with clear glass overlooking neighbours house had to be replaced, with obscure, add in mains powered fire alarms top and bottom and space made smaller to add in fire door closet think large box, it all got quite costly. Probably all because of trying to save cash and builder trying to help them and getting it wrong on so many points.

Wren appear to make their own cabinets as do Howdens that used to be called MFI,magnet /wickes and Benchmarx all use the same manufacturer as far as i can remember. Band Q only do flat pack and buying the stuff seperate from them soon adds up, like no hinges with doors etc.

At the end of the day its all about what you expect for a selection of cupboards and a shinny bit of plastic covered chipboard a and a fancy sink to fill and empty the kettle from.

Quality of the drawers make a huge difference as im called out quite often to fix them, plinths can just be 6 inch contiboard not the high priced plinths they all offer, under cabinet lights a waste of cash as are built in appliances, no doors required, and do you really need a corniche on the top just holds the drease and is only seen by the painter or sparky.

At the Bootle end of the canal in sefton, there is a pub a social enterprise type thing and they have canoe trips up and down the canal.

Also i had a semi rubber canoe called a Poly Pippin, strong and wide deck opening, also Decathlon do inflatable canoes and open type ones.

Paddles a throw rope and a buoyancy aid are all required, its great fun as there is no flow like a river you can easily travel quit far, but no appreciable flow means you need to paddle back as well.

Strong bleach in a spray gun type thing youd use to water the roses, wet wall first then start at top and allow to run down, you could rub it in gently with a soft bristle yard brush , leave for a few days and wash of with a gentle hosing.

One thing thats also going to be a huge part of offshoring or outsourcing is office space in cheaper locations, and the need for a company paid vehicle that isnt required, internet based video calling should replace that, also no need to stay in hotels overnight along with all those paid hours traveling with video calling, uk plc may well become more productive.

In a few years time a lot of work based in a dedicated building will be warehousing, manufacturing and some secure call centre work, the rest could probably be done in shared space offices rented per day as opposed to long leases.

Going to be a very interesting next few years as new working patterns are made, with offices working longer split shifts, instead of a basic 9 till 5 why not 12 hour shifts, or earlier starts or later starts.

A few years go went to The Holocaust Museum at Jerusalem, seemed strange at Telaviv asking for a day return ticket to Jerusalem and then a return ticket on the bus to the museum.

But a really interesting lovely well designed place in memory of those who got killed.

Lots of tears and upset in those walls from us and other visitors.

Watched episode 3 last night, and it was heart-breaking, even though its fiction, on the tv, it probably happened to a lot of families out there, so sad, well done to RTD and all the actors and behind the camera people for bringing such stories to life.

Watched episode 2 lst night and that was a difficult one, great use of a steadicam for the walky talking ranting bit, OLiie was excellent, and loved how they made Water street Liverpool into New York, with some CGI as well as the Saville row Tailors exit, they used the town hall, castle street for that bit.

“SHES WEARING RUBBER GLOVES, SHES WEARING RUBBER GLOVES” summed up the fear some had at the time, similar to present covid fears nowadays from a lot of people.

Just finished re watching it, a great piece of drama based on real fact not many people where aware of at the time, due to the medias protrayal of that illness only supposed to be infecting certain people in society, great music and acting, and all episodes available on ALL4

Parked up in Meols on the seaf frot one night and went for a walk, got back and van covered in eggs, seems as if a local didnt like cars parked there at night on a well lit and 30 mph road, according to a fellow walker who passed by, he said his car had been done before so he parked down a side road.

Watched it with anticipation that it may well be a failure, but it wasnt, hugely funny serious, cry times, but so real and real peoples stories all internmixed into a huge pot.

Add in the 70/80,s music and the speed editing and its an absolute classic of tv, and another 4 or 5 episodes to watch as well.

Sadlly it was seen by media as a gay disease, thats until women and babies caught it, and it was discovered it was in blood imported from america and used in transfusions, the media suddenly changed track.

Just be aware the sex scenes are quite awkward if watching with parents/older people who read the daily mail.

THere are some interesting interviews with RTD and the cast on Youtube as well.

But if you’re charged more that the advertised price for a haircut – because ‘the vendor has changed their mind’ if you don’t have the right to buy at the advertised price whats your right to refuse?

When i get a haircut price on the board is usually 7,50 to 10.00 yet they all usualy charge me a fiver, because ive not got much hair, or they feel sorry for me arriving by bike.

Be interesting to see if they where insured for any value , eg autotrader type valuation, or what the owners. museum thinks theyre worth. Also did somebody actually remember to renew the insurance

But here was another high value main dealer car garage in i think stockport set on fire a few months ago, lots of cars destroyed.

also Ronnie Corbetts old 3 million pound house, burnt out and still no repairs after more than a year,

Must be a bit difficult when you make that claim to the insurance and wait.

Customers house a while ago they had a lovely blind dog, and laminate flooring, so i was working there and youd hear the dog tapping around as they hadnt been able to take him out for ages only on the lawn so his claws had grown really long and not been worn down by being on roads etc, he would walk around a bit confused and walk into things, and slide around on the floor, but seemed happy trying to find me in the empty large room

So hes still a pet, but cant see everything, take him out for walks on a lead so he gets his claws worn down but cant get into danger by not seeing traffic etc, dogs just seem to go on for a long time then just suddenly give up the will to live.

Once saw a male about 50 actually riding a n MTB wearing a Singletack Cycling Jersey

and At Brownbacks Bacup, once saw a chap who was described as the editor of a cycling magazine Singletrack, but he wasnt riding a bike, or typing on a computer, so must have been mistaken, somebody called him Chips, But they may well have been asking did he require a portion from the local takeaway.

Weirdly been working in peoples homes for 30 years and never returned to nick anythting, its called being honest and trustworthy,, obviously something the o/p trollist doesnt understand,

As for expensive stuff, a few years ago worked in a big house, for a lovely chap and his wife, done a few jobs for them before, with a jaguar car worth probably a lot of money, when i visited to do the quote, so on returning to do the work, i asked could the car be moved, the chaps wife handed me the keys and said Jim says you can move it and take it for a test drive to get it warmed up and battery charged for a few hours when youve finished.

I said best not as at the time the fastest car i had driven was a Range Rover Vogue, quite fast, but drove more ike a transit, so ii politely refused.

Busy jobs, not heard that before.

no experience of building or costs,

    budget for living elsewhere

cant supervise organise the builders and other trades

Obviously youve been watching to many channel 4 rebuild programes a or are just a bit scatty brained.

Leave it to people with experience and lots of money and may have jobs in a few years to pay for it all, either via a mortgage or loans.

    Walk away now.

Remove one set of door handles and spindle, remove screws from faceplate in edge of door, there may well be two screws under the plate as well, pull lock out, try keys from both sides, gently tap lock with a hammer, and shake to see if anything sounds loose, sometimes something has got into the lock case, you could undo the case but some locks spring the contents out, and are a pain to refit.

Toolstation or screwfix wil have replaemt locks check case size either 2.5 or 3 inches, theow old keys away after fitting, had customers try old keys in new lock and damage the lock.

Vinyl disposable gloves, worn under ordinary gloves work for me, keep hands dry in the rain, as an emergency measure pick up a pair from the fuel pumps at fuel stations, theyre plastic though but do the job.

I work outside and they work for me, before numb hands that i kept cutting, because i couldnt feel them, now vinyl gloves and fingerless mitts .

Pair of socks on feet, and then a plastic bag over socks and then anothe rpair of socks with insulating tape to seal the bag, if you have hairy legs avoid getting tpe on the hair as it hurts when you pul it off

Quite an informative email, asking did you want order splitting, eg what they have in stock or do you want to wait till its all in.

Been in there a few times and very helpful staff who actually look like they ride bikes, there are also huge delays on new bikes and parts due to various problems in the world, my new bike took about 5 months to arrive, i was given a date for its arrival, and i didnt hassle them, and damm them it arrived a week early, i thanked them for the effort they had put in and left them sweets and biscuits as a thankyou, and it wasnt cycle store either.

Every retail store online or bricks and a roof, has huge problems getting stock, keeping staff, due to self isolation, and shorter opening hours, they should be thanked for taking time out to keep you updated, but then again that sgood customer relations, which they do well, not to mention lowish prices.
