Years ago when those stupid no tools left in vehicles signs appeared a chap i spoke to said his mates van got broken into with a similar sign on front and side doors, door wrenched open and then they had sprayed
“just checking” on sign. New doors required at huge cost to his insurance and no van for a week for repairs

but I think a lot of people are comfortable with higher cost vs less fossil fuels

Thats if they have disposable income to pay for the kit and the higher energy costs.

Back in the 60,s blown hot air was the fashion and that failed quite soon, followed by communal heating systems, but they where returning, but lots of residents now hate them due to huge rises in energy costs and freeholder add on costs.

Iron tablets will make your pooh turn black and hard to releaase may give you stomach ache and wind, but youll not fall asleep all the time, and theyre cheap to buy from any chemist or you can get Ferroglobin over the counter like drinking oily thick gear box oil even if it is only by spoon and not bottle.

Your finger nails have white spots in the nail if youre anaemic said my gp, and youll have very cold hands nose and feet, and ive got all them.

If its an old building the supply may just be enough for an old building, using gas for heating as opposed to electric so each flat will have a low cable rating ours has since the power company replaced all internal wiring to meters, and the external feed cables, so running electric car chargers may well overload the cable coming into the building.

Just wait till the weight of them pulls the screws out of the hinges, hope they have 3 x 75 mm or bigger hinges per door and frames are not made from MDF.

The hole looks 25 mm diameter if so you can use lever on rose handles that come supplied ith long bolts that adjust to size of door and bolt through handles, and then get covered by a pull off facia cover or a screw on one.

Otherwise use lever latch back plate handles use 30mm x 3,5 screws dip them in pva glue or silicon first and screw them into the chipboard core and allow to dry overnight before yanking on them.

I work outside a lot, wear a few layers, and woolly hat pulled down over ears, fingerless mitts with disposable gloves on under them thin so you can feel things like screws, and when you cut your hand and dont notice because you have little feeling in your hand when cold you see the glove turning red inside.

Also hot soup keeps you warmer than tea or coffee.

My ex boss got it, she had worked with MS patients so recognized the symptoms , sadly her GP put it down to the menopause for her, eventually she got a proper diagnosis.

Mt cousin also got it and she had the same problem getting a proper diagnosis and treatment, mentioned it to a retired GP freind, he said its problem to diagnosis its lots of tests etc, stick to your gut feeling and ask for more tests.

What symptoms are you showing that make you think you have it.

Use an oil based stain eg Baretine from toolstation, soaks in no problem, brushes on like water, but place sheets under gate ecause it runs down the grooves and onto the slabs and is a pain to remove.

Guess nhs staff aren’t leaving quick enough!! This will really help

Yep thought of that an easy way to reduce staffing levels, and recruit new staff part time, , then sell on or privatise parts more easily.

@project @drnosh where are these unused stations? I’m intreagued.

    Apologies for crap spelin before.

Fiddlers ferry closed down locally, interconector from Scotland windfarms, cable wanders around to Connahs Quay as somebody else said, the other one is/ was a gas station opposite Shotton Paper on the site of shotton Steelworks, and just the the side of the bypass 2 huge solar panel farms then we have the huge Ortead wind farms in Liverpool bay and off the north wales coast, and 6 huge wind turbines on Peel ports site liverpool, also 2 small multiple diesel generating station on Peel ports land at Birkenhead and at Stanlow.
Castner Keller and ince also generate power.

LNER now have a cheaper branded trainset service running from scotland to london called LUMo same sort of trains but fancy painting and lower fares limited departure pickup points though.

Locally there is a gas power station hasnt been used for years but built as brand new, and right next to it is a connector plant to the wind turbines in scotland run as an undersea and underground cable at huge cost because wind poewer was seen as chep from scotland, we also have huge wind farm out at sea hubndreds of the lovely things all running most of the time.
We also have huhe silos full of wood pellets from america all going to Drax to be burnt a huge transport mileage by train many many hours and a few reverses on route.
Perhaps if we all turned stuff off used led lamps, didnt use aircon so much and had solar pannels fitted , every little helps.

Updateing or putting in anything new in a saleable house except basic stuff is a waste of money and time, seen new kitchens put in prior to sale house sold and kitchen thrown out, cooker in wrong place, wrong colour doors etc, same with bathrooms, wrong colour tiles or dont like the shower etc, so re new at a huge cost to new owners.

Spend money on new door handles and light switches and led lamps, all cheap but make a huge difference as they usually look tatty in most houses.

Its going to be an absolutely horrendous time for his wife and 2 kids, and lets hope they get support trough all the backlash and name calling.

As above work in a few rentals and people who rent have no material interest in the property usually, so first few months of tenancy all going ok, then maybe a missed rental payment by a few days, letting agent sends a letter, then next month the same, tenant makes a counter claim about damp, or heating electrics faulty, both fixed, damp persists, rent with held, tenant then either doesnt pay the rent or writes to various forums for advice, rent not paid again,

Landlord/builder visit and notices the air is damp, all windows closed, condesation on them , mould on frames, extractor fan not used in bathroom, bathroom walls and ceiling black damp, clothes drying on radiators or clothes airers, heating on low or not being used correctly.

and the claims begin , until they move out or are evicted told to go

The Times is reporting ESSAR Group is on the point of collapse they own a few fuel stations and some oil refineries, one where the fuel strike started all those years ago and caused a fuel crisis.
Strangely when i passed by essar Stanlow last week very few tankers leaving the place with branded and un branded fuel tankers, usually loads leave every few hours.

So youre moved from a low cost supplier think call centre /phones and desks to a large multi million pound company and of course prices are going to rise to their prices not lower to the low cost call centre, probably all the small ones will go bust, and staff sacked or made redundant all funded by the uk tax payer.

Easiest way to not pay higher costs is to reduce consumption, insulate, turn stuff off, led lamps, and more as detailed above.

Then just wait ttil a major power producing plant goes Boom.

Management will find a way to down grade your mum as she is not doing the job she is being paid to do and other staff have complained about it, so either redeployment to another department or departure, other staffs concerns must be taken into account as they are curently dong part of her work on less pay.

Try here ,,https://www.lease-advice.org/ also leashold tribunal a government agency, also the managemeant committee of your bock as for receipts for gardening, they have to provide them

Withoding the service charge will achieve little as it will still need to be paid, and they may well serve a forefiture of lease notice on you.

Back about 20 years ago worked for the NHS,quite a few of the ambo staff said they where sent out to meaningless jobs as a taxi service, passengers, sorry patients would tell the call centre they had chest pains to get a call out, so one crew plus van off the road, then got another job working with on call GP s at night, and guaranteed every night youd have people who could have rung a gp and gone to a surgery would ring up for a GP visit, think i actually called an ambo on 2 or 3 ocassions for emergency treatment.

Whats needed is more funding for out of hours services, and a mental health team on call that actually go out or visit patients in need, no need for an ambulance to be sent, add in more capacity and staffing at A and E departments for major injuries and trauma with beds available not one in one out as is current practice,

Only last week a freind was taken ill at night and had to wait 5.5 hr for an anbulance on the advice of her GP on call service over the phone, i didnt find out next day or would have taken her there. Finally there used to to be a term called Scoop and Run, where the patient was scooped up, stabilised in ambulance and taken to nearest hospital, but they cant happen now due to under capacity and bed blocking etc.REleasing ambo and c rew for next scoop and run.

The more info they require the more hassle youre going to get at the end, for minor damage and repairs, also why do they need so much info to rent a room in a grotty converted house, like the ones ive worked in, avoid and look for somewhere else, dont they have student hostels up there or are they full or over priced, if so try and negotiate a lower payment per month.

Used the full no claims on the car,and they dont insure vans, and a few comapnies want allow any full no claims on 2 vehicles, thus car insured with one company A and van going to be insured with another company B who accept my partial no claims bonus, company B wheree more expensive to insure the car and van together for some reason.

Breakdown was nothing to do with insurance cos, just new insurance policies needed.

Havent had chance to get garage out to tow van in.

Will ring the garage thats looked after it for last 15 years, and rang insurance co, and insurance only 100 quid more than before, even though i dont have a no claims bonus on it but am willing to use same compapny.

Totally agree van prices have gone mad, and car prices gone down for older cars, like the one i bought, will look to getting it fixed, everyone seems to be blaming VANAZON and VANODEL for the huge price rises on vans.

Oh and van is a fiat doblo. If anyone wants to make an offer, good interior and bodywork, new tyres x 2, new EGR and other stuff, new fan belt and pulleys, roof rack, steel bulkhead

As above conduit is the way to go, but ensure they are in the correct positon in the slab and easily conected to existing cable/water and gas lines, not to tight a bend and 3 seperate ones, put draw cords in as you lay them easier than trying to get cord in after and remember cable pipes will be a new home for furry animals so cover both ends after instalation.

Also hope on te day the various connectors like what youve done.

We used to heat nuts and bolts up with a gas torch and drop into a tin full of engine oil, when hot, dont lower them in slowly as youll set fire to the oil, as a mate found out panicked and kicked over the can of oil, and set fire to his garage.

A baked bean can is sufficent in size fr small bolts and thread nuts onto some wire befiore eating up, makes it easier to get out of the oil can.

Strangely again no details of any mangers being sacked, just like all the huge mistakes in the nhs, eg stafford hospital and telford maternity unit and on crosrail with huge over runs on cost, no one waklked down the road.
