I’m not sure with IS mount – probably add or remove washers, if it is post mount the best way i have found is to loosen the bolts holding the caliper to the frame – just enough that the caliper is free to wobble around, then pump the brake leaver a few times to get the cylinders central, then with the brakes fully on tighten the bolts back up.

Agreed, i’m running a Blackspire C4 and its ace, althoguh never run anything else, so can’t compare – £25 including bolts and i’m not running any chain guides and all seems well. Not sure it really matters, i’d maybe take ‘stayhigh’ up on their offer

I bought a set of Hope Mini Mono’s 5 years ago – ok they were new and very pricy at £350 for the set, but i don’t think i’ll ever need a new set of brakes. The feel, servicabilty are brilliant and they look pimping – not to mention British…

i say put it on the credit card and worry about it later 😈

Yeah defintly go for Hope Sintered, I wouldn’t bother with anyhing else. when you do change the pads they rub a bit, but don’t worry they will wear down over a ride, not sure why but Hope make the pads so big that even with the pistons all the way back they still rub.

definitley don’t bother with a bleed kit, its £25!! agree with Balfa, i bled my mini’s the other day and got the rubber tubing from my local bike shop for free and used a tea cup for the waste oil. all you need then is a T10 torx driver to take the resivoir cap off and a 8mm spanner for the bleed nipple.

type ‘hope mini mono bleed’ into you tube – the vid explains everything you need to know.

and yes it is really easy

I’ve been havin’ massive trouble with mine, 3 times they’ve gone back, not sure pushfit BB’s are that great. I got told by the mechaic that water had got in and brought in dirt with it which grinds away the seals which is what let go.

i suspect that a combo of degreaser then GT85 spray is probably eating away at the factory sealants causing the BB to fail,

my advice would be to clean the BB with a damp sponge, keep pressure washers and hoses well away and don’t coat in GT85, WD40, etc and be careful when degreasing the chain and chain rings

    good luck,

I would have thought the quickest and cheapest way would be to change the tyres to road or semi road. I have a cannondale for fun and the old trek for commuting and tyres work a dream. But if you have far to go you could change the handlebars and the forks, depends on your budget and preference

Not that i’m advocating it, but did anyone else notice the fat f _ _ k left his keys in the ignition and the engine on?

    – i’m thinking BMW worth a few quid, bike probably worth less, looks like the driver could do with a bike ride or 2 and i woudln’t mind a nice shiney BMW…..

It’ll definitley be worth the wait. how long have you ahd it on order? aparently there are some ‘manafacturing issues’ although is suspect this might be soemthing to do with the large frame. but does seem to take forever, it’s like waiting for christmas 🙂

I have a fairly cheap oregon scientific cam that comes with a handlebar mount, i tried it for a couple of runs but the picture was very shaky, i then tried it on the lid which was much much better but as there is no playback until you get home, there was a lot of sky shots!! however after getting the mounting pitch right the lid is definitly the best place for it.

having said that, i’d love a HD Camera Pro as i agree the cheast mount is probably the best judging by the You Tube vids out there

amazing – cheers guys, Ziggy, that’s awesome, thanks loads – don’t worry i’ll be nice 🙂

Groundskeeperwilly – i’m on a large frame so not many of those around, i’d imagine the medium frame would be easier to get hold of, and as far as i can tell the RZ frames are the same through the range until you start going carbon fibre and it’s the componants that vary with price.

also according to the dealer mine was the unlucky one as none of the other bikes have failed – go for white it’s very cool

Ziggy, Bike was bought in March ’10 – aparently they are replacing only the frame – which is fine for me as the componants are non standard anyway (who puts toe clips on a full susser?)

Cheers, i did try the courtesy bike route – aparently Cannondale are not obliged to give me one, although i do feel i wasn’t obliged to buy a bike that fails on the mildest (sort of) of cross country routes!!

also the dealer doesn’t have any demo bikes in stock to ‘lend’ me

but yeah might try the money back trick – i do however love that bike and got a pretty good deal on it so am rather loathed to change it.
