Between this thread and the ebike thread it blows my mind just how sensitive some people on this forum are.  Get a grip.

Thanks for making this thread, I’m waiting to find out a surgery date for fixing my deviated septum and some sort of sinus surgery at the same time. Not looking forward to the recovery which looks a bit rough but I can’t wait to be able to breathe properly!

I’ve got a K2 that’s currently leaking oil every time I use it, just waiting for it to die so I can buy a Kranzle.

£25 for me this month… Was hoping for a repeat of last months £150!

I’ve been using an iKon Shavecraft 102 Slant head with the iKon OSS Stainless handle since 2016 with no issues, I get a great shave from it. I am noticing the threads on the head are starting to corrode though so will also be looking at the recommendations here or going for another iKon.

Put a decent amount in back in Feb after I found £200 of my old paper bonds. Won £25 in May and now £150 this month!

Both companied I’ve worked at have had a policy where if I am not at my home site then travel costs and subsistence are covered. Doesn’t matter if its at a client or another office within the company.
Always followed that and never had a problem but my managers have been reasonable people…

45p a mile for the first 10k and then 25p a mile after that.
It works out that I hit about 9.5k in November and then either stop travelling between sites for the last few weeks of the year or hire a car through the company.

    Glad it helped some people!

Mk7.5 GTI here with Thule Aero bars and a couple of 598 carriers, works great but adds a bit of wind noise with and without bikes on top but never had that horrible high pitched whistle.
If I have a long journey without bikes I will take it off and see a 5mpg improvement but I’m not overly fussed on fuel economy. I do put bikes in the back now and again on top of an old blanket and the interior doesn’t take much of a beating if you are careful.
Plenty of power for me and just the right size, couldn’t recommend it more!

I have managed nearly 40mpg before with bikes on top but I think that was a one off…

I have had the opposite experience but I have always bought second hand cars and asked to test drive those specifically.
(Ford dealer) for my Fiesta I rang up my local branch and said that there is a car in one of their other branches that I’d like to test drive. They went and picked it up and had me testing it a few days later. Paid for it that day.

(VW Dealer) Most recent Golf GTI I rang them up said I was coming to look at a specific second hand car on their lot is it still there? I spend 10 mins looking it over and someone has walked out with keys in hand, one spirited drive later (with a lot of encouragement from the salesman) I am signing for it and putting a deposit down.

    Maybe I have been lucky…

Can’t say I have ever needed them, but I do get why you are considering it the marketing is good…
I don’t use any spray lubes on my bike and make no real efforts to avoid rotors when cleaning and have never had contaminated brakes yet! Unless you count the elixirs that exploded on me many years ago.

I don’t think I would trust them to even take it off. I’m glad hes got his £130 back, I would probably carefully remove it and install one myself, although if he was ok with accepting it before the refund then just ride it and finally enjoy your bike!

I’ve just read through this for the first time and am shocked at the first and third? attempt… As with others here, I have fit my own a couple of times now and only had a couple of tiny mistakes where a bit of dust managed to make its way onto the frame. There is no way I’d be paying for that as a “professional” job. I’m not sure how much more invisiframe can do given they have already sent a free kit.
I would have told the job to hand over the free kit and I’ll do it! Takes about 3-4 hours but I enjoy it.

I just had some Ex511 rims built onto Pro4 hubs and they seem bomb proof. Built by mike at 20twenty for a reasonable price compared to local shops around here. I got some rimpact from hunt and put my old tyres on which are still an absolute bugger to fit, now even worse with the rimpact but the wheels feel solid!

Yes, I have reused hope olives a couple of times, they have a split down the side so once you have trimmed the hose you can get a small screwdriver in there and open it up a bit.

Thanks for that Bruneep, I didnt know I could get rimpact from Hunt. I will be going for that with the link you sent earlier!

A mate has the hope hubs from the stans rims so I can’t reuse them.
I think I might go for the rimpact pro on the rear and original on the front. All in this should be ~600 for a great set of wheels which I am happy with.

    Hi Guys,

I’m looking at options for getting the EX511 on Hope Pro 4 built and wanted to know if you have any experience with Evo Cycles who have them for £528.50 or Moonglu who have them for £520.
I got a quote from a local shop hoping I could support them but the quote came out to over £750 and I just cant when there are people doing them for £500ish.

So any experience with the above two shops, is there any reason I should pay the extra £8.50 with Evo?

Thanks all, looks like I will be going for a set of Pro 4s with DT Swiss EX511. My wallet thanks you for not saying carbon is the way to go! I will look into rim protection too, rimpact looks good but I’m not sure I would need it in the front.
Now to find someone good to build them for me!

I’ve come across a lot of sabotage on one of my local trails in Guildford, first time I was over the bars into the bushes! I go down so slowly now that its not fun, I just clear it away every time I go down now.

Cheers guys, I will take a look at all the suggestions. Someone has already offered me a set of Nukeproof Horizon CL Pedals and Giro Chamber Shoes which I might go for.

Thanks, I will look into those, I’m generally ok at keeping things serviced so should be alright.

I’ve had pain in both knees for the past couple of years which all started after 2 weeks in whistler. My physio has recommended going to clips to try ease the pain. Going to take a few suggestions from this and try them out!

I’ve had 5 or so reverbs and each of them has failed somehow… I then had two specialized command post which worked perfectly apart from being slow to return after washing the bike but a little bit of grease helped it, not a fan of the feel of them though. I’m now onto a Bike Yoke Revive and it is by far the smoothest post I have ever used, and was super simple to install, it is up there with fox for price though!

I did something very similar about 3 months ago and I didn’t get it seen straight away but I don’t think it was as bad as yours.
Doctor sent me to get x-rays but they didn’t show any fractures or breaks so I was sent to a physio who specializes in thumbs – this was 1.5 months post injury.
Just for context, at this point I was unable to touch my little fingertip with my thumb.

She made me a thermoplastic splint which allowed me to use most of my hand and pinch things with my thumb and other fingers but stopped me over extending it in any directions. It also stopped the general knocks from doing any damage! (I never noticed how often I knock my hand/thumb into things until I injured it and it hurt every time…)
I wore that for about 90% of the day and a cloth one for night, this lasted about two weeks.
I was then told to do some basic strengthening exercises which really helped and she said I could try riding. I went on two rides and it hurt but I powered through… Stupid I know.
It has been two weeks since that weekend of riding and I have no low level daily pain, just pain when I pick something up weirdly or when I knock it. I am only wearing the splint at night and at work.
I have been using therapy putty to pinch and squeeze with my thumb and this has really helped.
I have another session with the physio tomorrow and I should be getting some further strengthening exercises. I hope to be back riding in a couple of weeks but I will be taking it easy this time!

The guy in the carpark has always been decent enough to me, but I have encountered an absolute prick riding the jumps that seems to be a regular. Overall I’m always a bit disappointed every time I leave because I go to woburn before and the trails there are much more suited to my riding. I haven’t been to either since before Covid so maybe hes had to deal with a lot of idiots.
I have been to Windhill and Rogate multiple times since Covid and the booking might be a bit of a faff, but the people running it and the riders are all decent, specially Rogate!

No issues with my 2016 Stumpjumper or the Enduro I swapped it out for. Brake and gear cables were a 1 shot, the internal dropper was a bit of a pain, but a bend on the first inch of the tube helped it go up the seat tube and a bit of reaching through the swat box to guide it…

I always started looking after new years, and in Canterbury I expected to pay between 350 and 450 a month.

Are you deflating it so you can put sealant in?
If they pump up and seat first time, why not just chuck sealant in before?
Chuck a tube in there for a couple of days and then try again?
EDIT – Just seen that you need the valve core out to inflate. MY only suggestion would be to try switch it while maintaining as much air as possible.

I got a fiesta with the 1.0 Ecoboost a few months ago, great little car with loads of power for such a small engine. I tried the 1.4 which felt sluggish and slow compared to mine.
