Thanks .   I’m also considering SRAM rival axs as changing chainset seams easier cheaper.  May be wrong mind

Some interesting thoughts.  Thanks all .   leaning towards a Mason or Fairlight .

A giant Revolt makes a lot of sense but for some unknown reason does get me excited.   same for the new Defy .I’ll keep looking

I was contemplating a Mason bokeh what’s the thinking behind having a carbon bike instead?

also the new definition is due out this month – interested to see what changed .

After looking some more I’m leaning towards a Fairlight Strael 3 or the enigma etap. Looking at availability it could be while before they are available.
Big call to order now and wait months for one though. Thanks all for opinions.

Struggling to find anything I thinks a big improvement on what I have.

Anyone got any experience of the Ribble endurance bikes – carbon or Ti.

How easy to fit mudguards to the carbon endurance ?

I agree with the last comment. To upgrade I would need somethings that’s a significant upgrade over the Datum which I have upgraded to Hunt wheels and other bits and bobs .

Looking for a 56cm frame. My Genesis Datum is a medium

I did fancy an old model Domane SlR at under 8kg but sadly I can’t find one. The new Sl model is available but almost 2 kg heavier for same sort of money. The SLR is way over budget these days.

Looked at the Defy but fitting mudguards looks a faff needing and extra bridge . Nice bike I’m sure.

Like the idea of titanium/ steal as I feel they would be more robust ?? Could be wrong mind

    Thanks for replying guys.

Synapse looks interesting but the high end frames are big bucks. And I’m happy with my exposure lights and don’t think I need radar!

Like the diverge but the pro/ expert models are also big bucks and not sure I need the future sock which adds to the weight .

Love cotic bikes and have a Solaris for off road fun but the escapade is over 10kg and is not for me.

So much choice when it comes to Titanium options it’s hard to know what’s the best options.

Would like to try a fairlight strael as it’s high on my list but availability isn’t great at the moment. What sort of weights are build coming in at?

Also considered a Caad 13 but don’t hear much about them .

Thanks- that’s helpful. I’m in between sizing so I think I’ll size up.

Thanks all. I’ve replaced one with the XT Allen key head. The thread on the other only just holds and doesn’t fully tighten so I’ll try a split pint if I can find the correct size. Thanks all.

The slotted head pin is indeed pants

Yeap – had to drill both. Live and learn – something I will need to keep an eye on moving forward. I did an ok job on the the rear and a replacement pin slotted in ok. Front was harder to get out and I damaged the thread a little so will try split pin. Or might try a tap to clean the thread .

    Split pin probably best

I’ve just text an old school friend who owns a bike shop and he has a demo Trek procaliber 9.5 2021 for £1500.

Any idea how these rate.? £500 over initial used budget but this bike is nearly new and I can’t see much used local to me .

Thanks all it sounds like I need a nice light xc 29er hard tail. What’s the go to if I wanted to go new for £1500. What’s cool at the moment. I’ve never been cool but you can always dream.

I still remember dreaming of a pace or klein 20 years ago.

£850 for a brand new Longitude seems good value. Think it’s the best option at the moment.
    Nothing used about .

I’ve been looking at tyres and the WTB riddler look like something I had in mind . Any one tried them? Will the 2.4 width work with the i35 rims ?

I’m sure this has been covered somewhere but what’s the main difference between longitude and vagabond apart from the handlebars? Is the reach longer on a longitude?

Those tyres look just the ticket. Thanks .

No reason really for wanting 29er really was just thinking that the wife when using it to the shops on back lanes might rather some smoother rolling rubber . She will also use on the road 15 round trip on roads to local village with the kids . I will tend to use the bike more off-road around some forestry locally .

What would be a good value set of 29er wheels and tyres to change on to it ? Any value in the stock wheels – how easy to sell on?

Would Continental Speed King 2.2” x 27.5 fit on the stock wheels? Any thoughts ?

    preseli

I have found a new one for £850 which seems a good price but I don’t think the stock wheels are what we need. Would rather lighter 29er wheels with semi slick tyres . I don’t know much about off-road wheels so unsure how much this change will set me back. It seems an unnecessary cost and ffaff.

I’m guessing but I think a medium would be better for us as it will just do for my wife and I to share . If you at 5’8 dint it to big I’m sure my wife will. But something at that sort of price will be spot on. Open to alternatives to.

The Bootzipper looks exceptional value but I’m leaning towards a longitude. Finding one at the right price is the next challenge. I think I would need 29” wheels and slimmer tires than on a new one which would add to the price. I guess if I’m patient some occasionally turn up used??

If you do t mind me asking how do you find the sizing on the longitude?

A bit far to come Jam Bo.  In west wales .

no way you can send it?

tought about building my own out of wood but I think a metal one looks better and easier to put in and out.  Thanks for the replys

I love my Datum – looked at similar options  and tried a few out.  Had a good deal locally on a Datum 30 and I’m so pleased with it.

running it with full mudguards at the moment which a nice bonus in winter

Moonglu cycles have just posted a custom build on Instagram which looks the business.

I do like the idea of the Hope – DT Swiss combo buy at over £200 more than the HUNT which get good reviews it’s hard to justify if there isn’t much in it.

    Not thought of mavics.

the sensible option of course is to stick with the Fulcrum racing sports that are on it –  not sure how they rate??

Think it’s  a 18” medium.  Just need to make space so probably move it on
