As infrequently as possible. Had a couple of minor offs this year mainly through inattention but as I’m an insurance underwriter during the day I’m pretty risk averse anyway.

Apologies for the slight hijack but how hardcore is Dark Side? Going to Kirri in a couple of weeks but thinking I might get a short blat at Mabie in but I’ve only got a Rockrider 9.1 FS. Don’t want to bend it :?

Been married to Mrs Prawny for 7 years and I still haven’t danced with her.

A couple of our mates were going to have ‘You’re the One For Me, Fatty’ by Morrisey for theirs, that would have been funny, but they had a band instead.

Dowe Egberts espresso is good. Not available everwhere though so we have to make do with the dark roast most of the time, which is tolerable.

As much as a coffee lover as I am, I really cant be bothered to faff with espresso machines in the house. I’ll never make coffee as good as Yorks in brum, so I don’t bother anymore. I’ve got a tassimo for a ground coffee fix. The coffee tastes as good as a filter machine, probably better than starbucks and takes no cleaning.

I’m a 43 in normal shoes, 43 AM45 was a bit tight on the toes. I’ve got 44 in shimano road shoes after doing some more research which are perfect, so I’d go one size up next time.

I’ve got some sony mdr-zx600 for playing my elctric drums with, they’re decent and not too expensive. Definitely not audiophile phones, way too bassy for that, but fun to listen to rock, pop and DnB with.

That Saracen is a bit of a bargain. But it was a bit of a rip off at full price. I’d love one of them, hmmmmm.

TBH jedi, the 9.2 has probably got more than £400 worth of upgrades over the 9.1. 130mm Sektors, Mavic Crossrides and Not Tektro brakes spring to mind. Also a platform damped shock.

The only upgrades I’d be making early would be wider bars and a shorter stem.

Only problem is seat tube is too narrow for a reverb

Isn’t the no-lycra for DH thing some favour regulation the UCI came up with after rachel atherton whined about being beaten by tracey moseley pointed out that the youth marked preferred baggy clothes?

I’d like to see Rachel Atherton in one of them old skinsuits. I’m happy I’ll never see Rob Warner in one again, Swings n roundabouts.

Rockrider 9.2 £1100. I’ve got last years 9.1 and it’s a great allround bike. Fancying something a bit more gnar now though.

To be fair there’s only really that one rule for MTBs. That and no lycra for DH.

We used to have all our family holidays in a tent when I was in my teens. I used to love it, but it will never be as comfortable as a caravan.

I had a netbook for a while, I really can’t see the point anymore, iPads and android tablets are so good and cheap that a netbook looks a bit old fashioned.

If you really want a physical keyboard there’s loads of keyboard cases for tablets that get decent reviews. I wouldn’t bother with a really cheap android tablet though, I tried one of the £50 ones at Christmas and it was junk. There’s some decent ones from about £100 obviously the more popular tablet you get the more accessories you can get for it.

I tried to eat a whole loaf of Doreen in one sitting once, made me feel well sick.

Also, my ipad autocorrected Soreen to Doreen, but I thought I’d leave it.

Boblo- that BBC article is from 2003, there’s been a lot of stuff on IF in the last year or two, shortly after I found out about it, handy timing, the wife thought I was stupid for skipping breakfast, then there was some evidence that its not bad at all.
The study linked to above mainly showed that unhealthy people skipped breakfast, not that skipping breakfast is unhealthy, I get much fewer cravings and I can control my eating much better if I eat during an 8 hour window, mine is generally 12:30 to 8:30pm give or take. I got stuck at 13 stone for months IF got me down below 12 st for the first time in my adult life.

Don’t star eating til lunch time – http://www.leangains.com – worked for me. As long as your not doing 2 hour+ rides in the morning you’ll be fine, I never bothered with the BCAAs either due to budget constraints

    Jaffa cakes are definitely cakes

Cake – goes hard when it goes off

Biscuits – go soft when they go off

    That’s the official definition afaik

    it’s not cake!!

I’m sure it used to call it’s self a cake on the packet back in the day. I’m sure I lost an argument once because said it was bread and the enemy said it was a cake. Can’t find anything on the website now mind. Mmmm Soreen.

I’ve turned to teenage screamo now I’ve hit 30. A Day To Remember are one of my current favourites, but also i’m into folky stuff and still a lot of punk.

So my commute playlist normally consists of ADTR, Ben Howard, Killswitch Engage and Mumford and Sons. It’s a bi-polar train journey somedays.

    I love living around cannock.

Houses are cheap – £160k for a 3 bed detatched

Chase on the doorstep – I can do a lap of the dog in less than an hour riding from my front door

Brum is less than an hour on the train £65 a month for a pass gets you city wages

I’ve got a house, newish car, 2 kids, housewife, 4 (admittedly not great) bikes and go on uk holidays 2-3 times a year. Oh and a tassimo, better than a nespresso IMO because it steams the milk for you.

In my little town that was a sh1thole 9 years ago when we moved in now has – an improved train service, a big ass Tesco, a Costa, an Aldi, a Skatepark, new tennis courts and of course the Dog and Monkey. I wouldn’t move away now unless I was minted and could retire to Cornwall.

I dug my Snakeboard (remember them!) out yesterday morning for a roll down the local skate park, ramp was too wet though. Really need to learn to skate properly now though, maybe I should just suck it up and buy a board. 30 isn’t too old to learn is it? :?

@ Brassneck I agree too, at the end of the day, it’s all simple deficit whatever method you use, even the paleo diet, you just end up not getting the cravings and stuff becuase 1. your’e committed to not eating mars bars and 2. meat and protein is more filling and less calorie dense/lower GI

Where the pro cyclists have the edge is that a 500 calorie deficit on 5000 calories a day is much easier to manage hunger wise than 500 calories of 2000.

Also sitting in an office all day makes me want to eat/drink/kill myself.

Any ‘fad diet’ that consists of eating less ‘proper food’ rather than watered down corn syrup and cayenne pepper is fine by me, they’re just a nice set of rules the keep you on the path. It’s the same as having a workout plan rather than just going to the gym and doing whatever you feel like.

The problem (especially for people like me who eat with the family) with following diets like pro cyclists is that they can eat what they want to buy for themselves and then have the time/will to train for hours a day. I could probably lose weight eating pasta three times a day if I was out riding for 5 hours+ a day. But after leaving the house for work at 7 in the morning then getting back at 7 at night then entertaining the kids for an hour or two it doesn’t leave a fat lot of time to ride.

Fasting diets are great if you need to restrict calories very low for office worker types that don’t get chance to do huge training milages. For example, for me to lose any weight, I have to restrict my calories down to below 1500 for the day, that’s pretty hard if you have breakfast, lunch and then dinner with a family of skinny feckers :x

I’ve done the leangains style 8 hour window one before, never really thought of it as a ‘diet’ though, just a way to easily restrict my calories to a reasonable level for my fairly sedate daily life.

In fact, it worked so well since I’ve stopped I’m hungry all the time and I’ve put a stone on. Think I’ll be going back on it from tomorrow seeing as I finished the last of my granola off this morning.

when buying/bidding the postage is an important part of whether I buy or what my bid limit is

    This.

I’ve miscalculated postage before and sometimes by quite a bit when I was selling off my drum kit. Sellers just need to suck it up.

Also, I never use Royal Fail apart from letters these days, they’re expensive and useless. All of the parcel2go couriers are reliable and come and pick the stuff up from me at work so I don’t even have to bother waiting in the PO.

Started and finished watching the whole thing (so far) a couple of months ago, proper addictive TV, I was watching 3 episodes a day most days.

As annoying as Skylar and Walt Jr are, the first couple of series when she didn’t know about his meth cooking provided more tension to me as a husband than the threat of arrest or being murdered by Tuco
