Never seen a KMC chain snap

Used kmc for years without issues then had 2 snap last year, a mate also snapped one but this was on a stupidly unrestricted electric bike his mate had converted from an old Carrera hardtail. I’ve been using shimano xt on both bikes since then with no troubles (both 11spd)

I’ve used this in Shimano brakes on a mates bike (can’t remember the exact model), recommended as a way to get rid of the ‘wandering bite point’ issue but it’s also cheaper than Shimano mineral oil. As far as I know it worked fine although I’ve not used it in my own slx brakes yet

. I suspect it will be a very very long time before anybody outside of Russia will invest there again, and certainly not while Putin remains in charge…

Maybe from western nations but I suspect there will be plenty of people who will if they see an opportunity to make money and stick 2 fingers up to ‘the west’ at the same time. China being the obvious one but they won’t be alone

Looks like you’re right there to be honest

Not sure I fancy spending £150 on Invisiframe

£76 last time I bought a kit. I’ve done a couple of frames now and it’s not hard to fit with a bit of patience if you follow the instructions

I tried Kinetic Bearings pf41 and although they lasted slightly longer than the E Thirteen (but still less than 4 months till the drive side was completely seized) that came on the bike I would be looking for 24mm cranks if I was still using the frame. 30mm axle in a pf41 frame is just a bad idea, the bearings are too small and will not last long

The Grip2 damper is weirdly specced so light people can easily be outside of its adjustability range and need a custom tune, which is ridiculous tbf. I’m 10 and a half stone, it’s not like I’m a child or a tiny woman, just a skinny dude but I’m too light for it. Which is a shame as it’s imo the best damper in any of these forks.

I’m not much heavier than that and find the Grip 2 damper very good (150mm 36 on a Hightower). Recently had it serviced by TF Tuned and they changed most of the compression/rebound settings I had been using, which I wasn’t entirely happy about until I actually rode the bike. I now rate it as by far the best fork I’ve used, although I haven’t tried the new lyrik, and I definitely wouldn’t want it any stiffer so I wouldn’t consider a Zeb or 38

+1 for Shimano ME7’S, replaced a pair of am9’s and the stiffer sole took a bit of getting used to but I prefer them now

I didn’t enter and can’t remember who the organiser was but there was a weekend race at Hamsterley a good few years ago. XC on the Saturday then DH on the Sunday but you had to use the same bike for both days, I think Joe Barnes won it on a neon pink Orange 5

Not quite in the same league but a mate has just sold a BMW 1 series for just over £2000 more than he paid for it 2 years ago, with around 15000 miles covered in that time

I didnt actually believe that the russians would have been stupid enough to do something like this

Most of the soldiers who did the actual digging had probably not been born when the meltdown happened, as it was completely covered up/not reported in Russia (sure the official Soviet death toll is under 30) they would have no idea of the risks involved, and if told of the risks by Ukrainian personnel at Chernobyl would’ve no doubt believed it was ‘western propaganda’. Russian military command has little interest in protecting the lives of conscripted soldiers if it hampers the chances of achieving their objectives and those who did know the risks wouldn’t see it as a problem if it helps the cause

I’d be looking at the YT Decoy Pro @ £5399

I know very little about ebikes, but having owned and had warranty issues with a non electric YT I wouldn’t touch one with a bargepole

I thought energy bills are about to double though ?

A lad at work was moved to Octopus when his old supplier went bust last year, he’s just been told his bills are rising from £96 pm to £279 pm. I’m also with Octopus (by choice, not moved and don’t have a smart meter) but haven’t had the same email, I’m currently paying £63 pm with no indication of how much its going up nxt month

most of the world tends to sway more to the western ways,

Around a quarter of the global population are in India and China, any/most of the hundreds of millions of poorly educated people in parts of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America will have no access to reliable information and probably have no interest in a European war either way as their own lives are a daily struggle to feed themselves and their families. I have no doubt the forthcoming famines in many poor countries, due to large quantities of the world’s staple crops and fertiliser being produced by Russia and Ukraine will be blamed not on Putins invasion, but on western sanctions, by autocratic regimes across the developing world with historic trading relations with Russia. The world is a bigger and more complex place than a lot of people realise these days

Most people can see very clearly that Russia is the aggressor in this.

True, most western people can see this but…..

there will be a lot of people in many parts of the world (Africa, Asia, South America for example) who will view Nato/EU/USA etc as the aggressor for a variety of reasons. Long held grievances from European colonial occupation of many countries and subsequent teaching of the atrocities committed for, in some cases, hundreds of years will paint the aforementioned groups as being just as evil as we in the west view Nazi Germany. The Internet means anyone these days can find a source online to back up their own beliefs within seconds and it reinforces prejudices, often based on blatant lies and misinformation. To say most people are against the Russian invasion is wrong as its not being reported in the way we see it on our TV screens in many parts of the world

    Ooh, tell me more…
I thought they were both ~0.x mm thick see-through tape. Just one was cut into special shapes.

Proper Heli tape is way thicker than invisiframe, probably as its intended to protect helicopter rotors and not mountain bike frames

the Ukrainians have approx. 250,000 in the fight

The Ukranians potentially have every male between the age 18 and 60 ready to resist the Russians in any way they can, I’d guess in the millions if it comes to it. Most obvs with no military expertise but as history has shown someone fighting for their homeland will fight harder and longer than a paid/conscripted soldier

I have a grey LG washer dryer (no space for 2 appliances), it’ll wash 8kg but only dry 5kg, weighs the load and sets time depending on the actual weight, has loads of programs I never use and cost around £600 when I bought it around 4 years ago. No problems so far and it has a 10yr warranty, I rarely use the dryer but good 2 know its there if I need it

VED is based on your cars emissions

Not really, I currently drive a Caddy maxi and have mates who drive a VW Jetta and a Seat Leon. All 3 have the same 1.6 TDI engine and although my van will be heavier and not quite as fuel efficient they should have roughly similar emissions. I pay £210 a year, one of the lads pays £30 and the other pays zero despite having basically the same engine

I’m wondering if we are going to see some of the undersea cables that support much of the ‘net around the world mysteriously getting severed.

Sure I read an article a few years ago about them trying to develop small nuclear powered drone submarines and cutting Internet cables was thought to be one of their main intentions. Basically they could be launched and lie at the bottom of the sea permanently until needed. No idea how successful they were, or if there was any truth in it at all but it would be a very powerful asset in a third world war

Putin is incredibly popular in Russia right now. It’s almost as if he has a vice like grip on all media

Possibly, or possibly the population of Russia know that they’re going to jail if they don’t tow the line, therefore most will not publicly say they don’t agree with everything he does/says. No doubt about control of the media but they’ve also just set out in law exactly how ALL schoolteachers must now teach ALL children in Russia about how they’re ‘denazifying’ and ‘deweaponising’ Ukraine

boil it in water until it had only softened slightly and then add it to the sauce to finish cooking it.”

This is the key! Completely transformed my pasta dishes. This way the sauce gets absorbed into the pasta,

This is what I meant by pasta into the sauce, finish the cooking in the sauce for a couple of mins and not just mix the 2 together when the pasta is done

, or the objective fact that in less than a week Russia hasn’t defeated Ukraine?

It’s being reported the Russians have lost more troops in under a week than they have in 8 years of fighting in Syria, if thats even close to accurate they won’t be able to hide it from the Russian public for long no matter how any of this is presented by their state controlled news channels

Hmmm… not sure my saucepanfull of pasta will fit into the pesto jar?!

Put the pesto into another pan first then

to cook pasta properly in an Italian place in NY they would boil it in water until it had only softened slightly and then add it to the sauce to finish cooking it.

De cecco or M&S own brand, lots of salty water and ALWAYS put the pasta into the sauce, never the sauce onto the pasta

I’ve watched a few crankworx dh races is the past with Andrew Neethling doing the commentary, whilst he knows the sport inside out its just not the same without Rob Warner. Hopefully someone at Discovery will recognise this but I doubt I’d subscribe if the DH was the only time I’d watch it, and definitely wouldn’t if they go with a different commentary team

I remember freecaster before when Rob Warner was a little less guarded as to what he would say with the guests in the commentary booth

Redbull TV would’ve been in trouble if they’d broadcast some of the jokes Warner came out with in the freecaster days

Any other nominations to rival slabhead for worst buy then?

A few months ago I’d have said Joelinton. If he was still being played as a striker he would be up there but has actually looked very good in central midfield (and has apparently won more tackles than any other Premier League midfielder this season) since Eddie Howe was appointed. Hard to see what possessed anyone to consider paying £80m for Maguire tho

Frankie Boyle I’m sure has said much ‘worse’

I might be wrong here but sure I’ve read that Frankie Boyle used to write jokes for Jimmy Carr
