he’s not afraid to display his prejudices and bigotry. People listen to him and he sounds like one of them, that’s all it is.

I pretty much said exactly this to my dad (who’d said he had no chance of becoming president) before he was elected last time, still rings true 2day

Just had my best winter ever (30+ years biking in all seasons) by ignoring the conditions and just riding my ebike.

    Same here

    Steve Bruce

After watching England over the last few weeks  I was beginning to think it was Steve Bruce in a Southgate mask, exactly like watching Newcastle before Eddie Howe took over

The way he seems to pull away from everyone else just seems a bit ‘off’!

I bet most of the top XC racers say the same when Pidcock shows up to a world cup round, starts at the back and leaves them racing for 2nd place by the 4th lap

No idea if these races actually happened or if they plan to run any next year but worth keeping an eye on

I would say to check the mech hanger as I find they bend before the derailleur

We used purple on our e bikes with galfer discs and the performance was superb.

+1, ebike is heavy by ebike standards and they’re far better than the Sram pads that came on the bike in all conditions so far

Anyone else finding they can’t change their team for Les Gets? Had the email saying I’m over budget, they’ve replaced the most expensive rider (Amoury Pierron for Kade Edwards, who isn’t actually racing any world cups this year) and when I try to change it I get the ‘event is live, rosters locked’ screen

     So, changes for the Swiss?

The only changes will be for injury/suspension. Southgate’s game plan is (and always has been) to keep the ball and only pass to feet, no forward runs into space despite the team having no attacking threat whatsoever. They fluked a win last night but more of the same against Switzerland and they’ll get hammered

The strava website (on a pc, not the app on a phone/tablet) will have a load of ‘hidden segments’ on every ride along with the option to unhide them and remove others that do show up on the app

Is this the end of my offroad biking, will I have to stick to road and mild gravel?

A mate had a pretty bad crash a couple of years ago, grade 4 AC joint separation, several broken ribs and concussion. He was in hospital for a couple of weeks and off the bike for about 5 months. 1st ride sfterwards was at the Golfie, he’s also a keen climber and has had no problems doing either since then

I keep mine in an old plastic toolbox with the top tray removed, lives in the back of the van alongside a 20l jerry can full of water, both held in place with bungy cords

This ^^^ could be an idea 😉, although personally I don’t quite think I’d make it round. Credit where it’s due tho cos that’s some days riding

Bought one and while ago and the shop ordered the version with the wrong freehub, when I pointed this out the lad in the workshop pulled the endcap off by hand and swapped them in about 30 seconds

Anyone else had fun bike rack mishaps

The guy that owned the company where I did my apprenticeship lost a top of the range Scott XC bike from a rack on the back of his Range Rover a good few years ago, which I found extremely funny. This was shortly after he’d told 2 of us that a coast to coast charity ride he’d organised was only for office staff and not open to anyone that worked on the factory floor, despite us being the 1st to show any interest in actually doing it

Rode Penmanshiel (Scotland, not Northumberland) last weekend, not far north from Berwick and while not the biggest place the trails that are there are good for a 160mm bike and were riding well, nice and dry

I’m not going to argue with or reply to anyone here but when I mentioned the Isle of Man TT it was in response to a suggestion that serious injuries/fatalities at this event will get future similar events banned. What has happened here is that Bernard Kerr has been asked to test some new parts of the track prior to the event taking place. He rode most of it and told the organisers/builders that parts of it weren’t going to work and they needed more safety precautions than they had in place, therefore the features in question will not be used in the event. I see no problem with this approach but I agree the jump looked like an accident waiting to happen the way it was built

Are you running an XD hub body? If it’s not fully threaded down you get those symptoms.

Yep, DT 350 hub, also bought microspline freehub and slx cassette and it was the same without the chain on, shop seemed pretty sure the mech was the problem but we’ll see what sram have to say about it 🫰

Surely if it was that bad then old-skool cable ties round the tubes would get a cable shifter sorted without removing the motor?

I’ve had the bike less than a year so I hope it’s going 2 be sorted on warranty. Apparently it is just about possible without removing the motor but VERY fiddly to do, that was from a lad who was running Whyte’s ebike demo stand a few weeks ago and there’s no way I’m taking the motor off myself when it’s still under warranty. I must admit everyone I know who uses AXS hasn’t got a bad word to say about it

The compression at the bottom of the slope is on the limit

Cam Zink said that was the problem in the comments below Matt Jones vid on Instagram,  the take off looked OK but the compression at the bottom of the ramp was too much and too close to hit it safely

I did wonder why In BK and MJ’s vids they didn’t approach the jump from higher up the track?

Bernard Kerr said on his vid that the smaller gap further up the track didn’t look like it would work as it would be hard to carry enough speed on the run in to clear it. It didn’t look like there was any way of getting past that without jumping it so they ended up riding the old track down to the landing of the bigger one

Currently waiting to hear back about a warranty claim on a GX AXS mech that won’t align with the smallest 2 cogs, micro asjust set to 31 and limit screw backed off completely and it won’t go past the 10th gear. It will shift down when the chain is fitted but it’s worn 3 cassettes out in 1200km. I would’ve ditched it and fitted a cable and Shimano XT mech if it didn’t involve removing the motor on the ebike it came on and has honestly been the worst shifting setup I’ve used for a long long time. Fingers crossed it comes back as good as many have described but I can’t say I’ve been impressed with it at all so far

loads of people have called for the TT to be banned. However they have done all they can realistically do with safety

Marshals have site of every section of the track, areas are heavily padded. There are qualified trauma doctors on site in various positions along with lots of paramedics. There is also dedicated helicopter support. So I would say they take safety a lot more seriously

All of this may be true but people still die every year, everyone taking part knows the risks involved and are prepared to take those risks, the same applies here in my eyes. Plenty of the the top racers don’t think it’s worth the risk and don’t turn up despite being sponsored by Redbull

The danger with the way Redbull appears to be going with Ramoage and Hardline is that someone will die or have life changing injuries which gets this level of organised sport banned .

The Isle of Man TT has fatal injuries pretty much every year as far as i know and I’ve never heard anyone say that should be banned

Interesting that 3 of them tried that gap but none tried the smaller one further back up the hill, Bernard Kerr did say on his vid that they wouldn’t have enough speed to clear it so possibly more track changes before the race. It definitely needs a safety net below that scaffold jump though

Personally I use 200 f&r on the trail bike (Hightower),  Hope tech 3 E4 brakes and 220f 200r on the ebike which is heavy (Whyte E-160 which is just under 27kg)) which are Code RSC and I’m under 11 stone. When I went to buy the 200mm hope rotor for the trail bike the guy in the shop was adamant I shouldn’t need to go 200mm on the rear and went into great detail about why so I walked out and bought it from another shop. I’m more than happy with the extra stopping power although I might not ‘need’ it all the time

The last dt swiss wheels I bought came with a 6 bolt adapter, if using centrelock they’re fitted with either a cassette or BB tool depending on the  hub
