My favourite descent off Helvellyn is Seldom rarely see any walkers on it, never been down on my own so can understand the consequences you talk about :-) I,m ok with exposure on my left, I struggle with it on my right due to poor sight in my left eye :-)

Endura waterproof shorts probably ok if you ride a couple of times a month but for a ride all weathers type of rider and often they are just so over priced for what they are. Returned and offered a refund which I took and bough some Gore we will see how these fair!

No charge for parking in Staveley Millyard its permit only from 9am till 5pm for workers and customers(you get a frog permit from which ever business you are going to be in if its for over 2 hours) but I can you tell you that not one person is checking!! But saying that I would not park there during the day as the level of driving is pretty bad with lots of 70 (age) plus people parking up to go to Wilfs and I,ve seen lots of bumps which included someone reversing into my 2 week old works VW Caddy :-(. Its a free for all at the weekend the permits are not used or issued. Please do not park outside residents houses!!! Personally I would park up at the weir next to Barley Bridge

DPD for the win never had an issue with them . Hermes and Yodel use individuals who drive round in cars rammed to the hilt with parcels so much so they can not see clearly out of their passenger window. They will just leave the parcels anywhere even in sight of people walking past. Wife has had a couple of parcels go missing with hermes. Royal Mail are up against it with their hands tied behind their backs with the USO and having to deliver the competitors mail their technology is finally getter better with their Tracked 24/48 service very good.
