You don’t say how old it is, but chances are they are ‘old’ and could all do with a change anyway. When I used to play electric regularly I would change once a month or so.

Lighter is easier to play, but it sounds different too. For (full size) electric guitars 9-gauge is the most commonplace.

…and when a train arrives at the station, cluster around the doors in an ‘angry mob’ formation and appear surprised when people have the indignation to try and leave the train before you get on. Under no circumstances move out of the way, as this betrays weakness and will hinder your attempts to spread your laptop, coat, rucksack and newspapers all over the four-seater section.

I can’t do cheese with fruit in. Vile. I assume it’s created for people that don’t really like cheese and want something light and fruity instead. It usually seems to be white stilton or Wensleydale or somesuch.

Oh, and it’s better to have fewer high quality cheeses rather than lots of low quality cheese.

Good idea to go for a hard cheese, soft cheese, blue cheese and something else, maybe a goats cheese.

Vacherin Mont d’Or is quite unusual. The important thing is to get good quality cheeses, as opposed to vac-packed plastic. A really good Cheddar is amazing for example. Likewise, a high-quality Gruyere is lovely whilst the cheap stuff is a bit flavourless.

Hurrah. If you want to conceal your middle class-ness you could always pour a gingerbread latté-mochaccino into a an empty Special Brew can and hide the Independent inside a copy of Nuts magazine.

Oh, and after I put everything back together again I realised that I had somehow removed the travel indicator rubber-ring without realising it. Arse. Not sure I can be bothered to put it back on now.

Errr, I don’t disagree with your last statement but at points you seem to imply that:

    a) Pensioners should give up seats for children
    b) The last people to get to the bus stop should get on the bus first

Ok, I gave them a ‘service’. They were jammed solid, so I had to use all my strength to pull the lowers off.

The oil on the uppers looked a bit discoloured when I got them out. Once I got them out and cleaned them I could see nothing obviously wrong, but there was some damage on the stanchions below the seal. Kind of like a couple of small round dents. This makes me think that perhaps some grit did manage to get between the stanchion and maybe a bushing(?) and grind everything to a halt. Oh well, they work now and are super smooth again.

Looking forward to seeing this carbon build when complete. You better start weeding your garden.

When I read the title to this thread I thought it was about starting a new relationship with a young lady. Disappointed.

We have bought a thermostatic oil filled radiator for a 8 month olds bedroom. He appears not to like it below 18 degrees at night so we reckoned it would be cheaper to heat his box room, rather than the whole house?

Possibly, but it depends on the heater. I’m sure someone here knows how efficient that sort of heater is.

You’re content in allowing small children to freeze?

Not sure I understand this bit. Unless you can’t buy warm clothes for kids any more.

Oh well, I guess I must come from a line of cold lovers then. Dropping the thermostat down to 17 or so and wearing warmer clothes is better for your wallet and the environment though.

People heat their their houses to 21 deg.C in winter? Seriously? Cripes! FWIW a jumper may be a useful investment, or failing that an industrial sized crate of MTFU!

Dare I suggest that you’re not actually ravenous, and you should perhaps learn to deal with the slight hunger pangs you feel around mid-morning. Water helps.

I think the Santa Cruz is intended to be a bit more ‘hardcore’ than the Soul.

IMO the Soul is fairly light for a steel frame, whilst the Chameleon is quite chunky for an Alu frame.

    Frozen mud. Positives: Fast, dry.

Negatives: Frozen ruts, no grip, hurts if you fall off

    I’m not so sure. I prefer summer…

Fillet is more tender, but less flavoursome, and more expensive. Sirloin is tougher but more flavoursome, and cheaper. Rump even more so. I am happy with this.

I thought the test they had to pass was something reasonably tame like falling of a bike at 10mph.

If you are hitting your head hard enough to shatter your helmet and for the object you strike to reach your head, you are probably going to seriously injure your neck/other bits of you anyway I would have thought.

I suspect many buy pricey ones mainly for vanity.

I think that applies to almost anything you can buy.

Yes. If it was called ‘Being massaged with unsalted Normandy butter by attractive members of the opposite sex whilst eating Hob-nobs’ I would be more attempted to attend, but probably ultimately disappointed.
