I’ve told you once & i’ll tell you again! A new bike is the answer, full sus. Either your getting old or that baby is rattling like my old cow horn bike from the 70’s!! Don’t give me any of that i can’t afford it because i’m getting married stuff either, and you a comms’ media director and all that…..
Sambob i have: Trek 1.5c for the winter & a Madone 5.5 for the summer.
Remedy 9 with 160 Talas carribean fit up front 8)
Fuel ex8
Kinesis Maxlight pro xc3 (for putting the child seat on obviously!)
I’d like a Session for the yearly trip to the Alps, but it’s never going to happen unless i sell everything else
Binners, I remind you that the soft southern shandy drinking brigade can read your post. Don’t go out tonight, but post up later saying saying you had a totally gnar to the power of rad ride in the snow and finished off by having 10 pints of black sheep in the pub before heading home to clean your forks. Accompanied by some suitable photos, we’ll never know 8)
How about Hope, Shatton, Shatton edge, TV mast, Bradwell Edge, Pindale, Dirtlow rake, Cavedale, Pint of Blonde in Castleton, Mam Tor old road, Hollins Cross, Edale, More ale, then back to Hope. 3 hours tops. :D
boblo, whilst I think the gore shorts are great on both the MTB and road bike, i purchased a set of Assos F1 UNO S5s last summer and they are amazing. just a shame they are so expensive, but they’re handy for fancy dress parties if you want to go as Borat 8O
I find that Gore bike wear are very comfortable and hard wearing. I use there 3/4 version in the winter as well. Probably middle of the road money wise, I’ve had mine for 4 years and they’re still going strong.
Trek remedy 9 2011 with DRCV Shock and the 2012 Fox Talas 36 RLC Fit 120 – 160mm with the “Carribean coating”. Fantastic bike if you can find a frame to bulid up… 8)
These studies are all centred around road riding. If you fall off a mountain bike on a normal trail and hit your head without a helmet on you are going to get hurt. Even I can understand this TJ and I’m not particularly intelligent by stw standards 8O
You need a mavic flat spoke holding tool or the eqivalent manufacturers tool. i had the same problem with my mavics and didn’t realise what the strange looking round tool with slots in it was for and binned it. Had to go to the LBS and beg one from them. Alloy nipples are the worst for it IME. Flat bladed spokes don’t have the “J” bend at the bottom, so will naturally turn under pressure.
Belugabob is right on track there. i personally use a carbon rod from a challenger 2 main battle tank gunnery tool kit, but i doubt you have one of those knocking round :D
Big screwdriver and small hammer! you shouldn’t have to file anything unless you’ve been on the beers already :D Take your time and do it equal and opposite so you don’t “bur” the housings.
Set of racing Ralph’s and you’ll be far enough ahead to ride straight up that fella!! If not shout “rider Yessir” and they’ll all move out of the way! terribly nice chaps those Manxies!
Jonathan Gaul at “Swinton physiotherapy” is very good. He has sorted my knees out on a number of occasions. You just need to google it as I haven’t worked out how to post links from an iPad yet!
Evans are selling the 2011 Madone 5.5 frame and forks for £999in a size 54 or 56. leaves you a grand to sort the rest…. I’ve got a 5.5 and it’s very nice :D
I bought my house in May 2007 and paid well over the odds. Once we moved in we then had to replace the boiler, all the windows and doors, the garage roof is on its last legs and the driveway is past its best. I would advise you to take another viewing yourself and pay a plumber £50 to check the boiler/central heating out. Take a notepad and write down anything that needs replacing then ask for a suitable deduction from the price to cover it. A three bedroom semi has cost me £5k to replace all the double glazing! The boiler and pipe upgrade was £2K 4 years ago. A normal survey will not tell you anything you can’t do yourself. If the building is quite old then its worth getting a structural survey as well. HTH.
I’ve run a set of Fox float 130 RLs for three and a half years with over 3000 miles on them. They’ve been to Mojo for one sevice at 2 and a half years old and i’m considering a seal service on them again now (at 3 1/2 years) The “secret” is to clean the crap off them after your ride and spray a bit of 3 in 1 silicon spay on them and wipe off the excess. I’m afraid your forks are fit for the bin / or new stanchions
I have an unlocked BB 9300 on the tesco PAYG service. Pay £5 a month for the Internet data package. Its a great way to keep in touch with friends and family abroad (as long as they have a BB) as you can send pictures and video messages on BBM. You could just do this by email i suppose but its quicker and easier using BBM.
I have two sets of FSA cranks and they both require the use of an “FSA pin tool” to tighen and remove the retaining crank bolt insert. £54.99 from CRC or borrow one??
Well done the Scummers for hanging on! I’ll be spending my ill gotten gains in a local (Manchester) bike shop this week on a nice shiney Reverb!! :D Chapeau!!
