Lifer, you should have been racing in the national, as you’re a proper Jockey fella! Take your blinkers off and stop living in your little Village.

Yes Bregante! All the Family support Man U. The Wife has got 8 brothers and 4 sisters ( she’s Irish!) and the majority support Man u, so I take great pleasure in watching Man u loose i’m afraid!
Oh, I live in Greater Manchester as well, so i’m allowed to hate them!

i did the ST weekender last year. The XC loop was a 29 minute loop for the pros ( Nick craig Etc) Its a shame that its not better marked, but there are some superb high rise berms and a great DH route if you know where to find them!

Doug & DD, no idea i’m afraid! Perhaps you should start your own thread and ask the ST collective masses? I’m sure they’ll make tasty burgers though!

A favourite was Holsten Pils Satzenbrau, but the most memorable was Greeny Meanies, a snakebite in a pint glass witha shot of green bols and a Cointreau. bring back the eighties :D Edit, and being an ex BFG squaddie, Grolsch, in flip top bottles at 30 pfennigs a go!

So, in conclusion, do what i did, buy a Remedy and put a set of talas forks on it, and you won’t notice the difference uphill (unless you’re dobiejessmo) :D

I’ve owned a Trek Fuel EX 8 since August 2008, and a Remedy 9 with Fox Talas 160’s since March last year. I ride reguarly in the Peak district and since last March, the Fuel ex has been gathering alot of dust and only gets used by the wife on kids days out! :D The Remedy was great fun in the Alps as well!

I’d have persuaded him to go in to the Armoured Corps. You get to fire big guns and brag about being a ” Tank Commander”‘ which was the best job in the world! And as the Army is now all “Bowmanised”‘ (their digital secure comms system), he can get decent IT stream quals as well. Plus Grunts have to do lots of walking! Hopefully he will change his mind!

Great stuff! What Unit is he planning on joining? I can remember my parents dropping me off at the Junior Leaders Regiment in Bovington, Dorset, in June 1985 at the age of 16! I only managed to do 23 years, retiring at 40 :D
Hopefully, he will have a great time and get to see the rest of the world.

I’ve had a set of Havens for a year. I’ve changed the non drive side bearing in the rear wheel and apart from that had no issues with them. They are by far the easiest wheels I’ve had for mounting tubeless tyres as well. Straight up first time, every time with a track pump. They’ve taken a beating in the Alps and Peak district and still going strong. I’ve got the 20mm front and 142×12 rear. You can interchange the axles for whatever you want. Downside, sourcing spokes, only place I could find them was Hibike.de.

+1 for Peaks side of Manchester :D And when they’ve built the new by-pass, i’ll be able to get to the Airport in 7 minutes and Edale is only 22 minutes away.

I had a meter fitted in January last year. Wouldn’t fit in the house so it’s in the front garden. Cost for the year was £510 in total. For a 3 bed semi, 2+2 kids. Regular, car, bike washing on driveway, watering garden etc. We have decided to go back to rateable value charging, as when the kids are older, we will use a lot more water! I’d check what the neighbours are paying as your current charging is higher than mine, and I live in posh suburbia as you know! :D

The rear wheel comes with an adaptor so it can be run 135/142 x 12. it just clips into place.
