the best thing to repel Mossies is as “crazy legs says- “Deet”. it needs to be a minimum of 20% concentration. Be careful where you put it! it will melt all forms of plastic and carbon! especially watch straps, expensive sunnies etc. i have worked in many mossie affected countries/locations and the best thing that i have found to treat bites is a product called “After bite” google it. available world wide.

I ‘ve got a halfords advanced metal clamp that cost about £60 last summer. it is easy to mount, takes only seconds( i reguarly swap it between a Ford focus and a BMW 3 series) and comes with spare mount bars for swapping different vehicles. it is a boot/high mount and doesn’t require a separate lighting board (dependent on your vehicle). Pros- quick to mount and easy to use, takes 3 bikes e.g. a fuel ex8, a Hoo koo e koo and the nippers 20″er. Cons- scratches the hatch back lip to bits! easy solution – evo stick some old inner tube to the clamping faces, job done.

I have Lived in Alberta for some periods of time over the last 20 odd years. Quite a few of the Canuck brands can now be found in your local off licence- Labatts blue, Molson Canadian, Kokanee, Coors, i’ve even found Moose head in the local Bargain booze!

Don’t tighten them up until you are confident about your ability to release from them! it takes a fair bit of practise to release on demand and it’s even harder when you try to do it in a hurry. I.E. your about to pile in. Take your time and you will gradually feel the benefits of being clipped in.You will inevitably have a few falls, most of which usually occur at very slow speeds when you are least expecting it! and in front of a crowd of people. Have fun!!

No,The beast goes from the track junction 300 metres NW of Hope X,Grid- 160 876. Turn right down the hill, through the gate. Point and hold on tight! the scary one with big rocks! finishes down by the river, then a short push up the hill to the A57 snake road. Your thinking of the route to the North east of the Hagg farm descent that finishes at Ladybower resevoir. Think it’s called Ashton Clough?? Enjoy the Marin Trail, i stayed at Gwesty Glan Aber Hotel when i went last September. resonable price with good food, bike friendly, in the centre of Betws y coed, about 3 miles from the start of the trail.

StoneMonkey, i’d recommend giving the Marin Trail at Betws y coed a go. it’s a cracking ride, usually quiet at the weekends and not full of £2000.00 plus mountain bikes being pushed up hill by people swathed in Bodyarmour!it has no trail facilities, but is only 2 miles from Betsy.i ride reguarly around Hope and Edale and if you can manage the Hope X Beast without falling off you’ll be fine! i’d give a trail centre a shot and Coed LLangdegla is good, but a bit full if you start after 10 am at the Weekend and you can ride the Circuit in just over an hour at a decent pace and the cafe does top sausage butties. i prefer the Peak district for it’s untouched natural tracks, but it’s good to try somewhere new now and again.

i have a 2009 fuel Ex8 with Rythm comps fitted. i have bontrager Mud x tyres fitted. i recommend trying to get the tyres to “bead on” using a compressor/co2 pump before filling them with the Super Juice. i found that new tyres take a while to settle and require excessive inflation, 70psi plus to get them to “bead on”, then reduce to the required PSI which is a lot less than you would normally put in tubed tyres. i left them overnight, let out the pressure and filled with Juice and re inflated. it’s a bit of an ordeal initially and took a fair bit of trial and error to get right. only downside is that a large cut/rock slash in the tyre means you have to put in a tube anyway! is it really worth the effort? i’m still not convinced!

i smoked for 24 years, 20+ a day as a soldier. try hypnoworks.org, based in Cheadle, Cheshire. i had one session in October, lasted an hour and a half, and i haven’t had a cigarette or desired one since. cost £250.00 but it’s been well worth it. i had never been hypnotised before and was very sceptical. it was a remarkable success. Wish i’d tried it years ago. give it a try!

Hi,i would recommend the Hope Cafe and B&B in Hope. check out the Website: http://www.woodbine-hope.co.uk a really friendly place with excellent food and you can ride straight out on the trails. There’s also a pub 50 yards down the road.
