Yes, full on over the bars down the "Beast" in the peak on the last sharp right hander. I still suffered a bruise to the left hand side of my face where a rock had protruded past the length of the chin guard. The chin guard took the weight of me and the bike (i was still clipped in) and is still intact! The only reason i don't wear it all the time is that it's a bit warm in the summer and lets face it, you look a bit of a tit riding normal trails with a FF on!!

It's just a rumour! i've had my Met Parachute for two years and i wear it during the winter when riding solo in the Peak. i've had a few over the bar crashes with it and it has saved me from a number of trips to A & E and dentist bills. It does what it's designed to do. (Awaits TJ)

The Met parachute is ok, but the chin bar is quite high if you,ve got a long chin (like me). The new "urge" helmets (Google it at urgebike.com) provide more protection around the side of the head in their Enduro version but i don't think they have a UK distributor yet.

DT78 is correct. The cap preloads the headset bearings and must be tightened first, then the stem should be alighned with the front wheel and the stem bolts tightened.

Thanks Jules & Chris for a great ride on Saturday. I've just about sobered up now. Top photo of me there Pook, but the one of me on the ground would have looked even better no doubt! Great ride in fantastic company. Can't wait for the next one.

+1 for the camelbak lobo. Two decent sized pockets and you can fit a pump in with the bladder. Good ventilation on the back and a waist and chest strap. i ditched the waist strap as i found the chest strap sufficient. i paid £54.00 for mine.

They should be posted on Flickr tomorrow. Search "mtbpix" and look for the no fuss events photostream (10 under the Ben are there at the moment). There should also be a link to them on the No Fuss home page at some stage. Great event as usual! Well done to The boys and girls from the Manx Mountain Bike club for a great result in harsh conditions yesterday. 8)

i've just got a set Of RR's and am running them tubeless. they are not very confidence inspiring on the loose stuff, but there is a noticeable difference in rolling resistance. But there should be at £45.00 A THROW. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I bought a very nice stainless steel Hope BB on saturday to replace an original FSA BB that only lasted 6 months. Comes in a range of colours as well. silky smooth but a tad expensive at £69.00 from Royles in Wilmslow. The good thing is that the bearings can be replaced.

I have the same wheelset and all you need is some valves (about £6 a piece) Tubeless tyres! and a bottle of stans sealant. The best tip i can give you is to rub some fairy liquid around the rim edges prior to inflating. This helps the tyres to seal on the rims. I use a standard track pump to inflate them. There is a bit of a technique to it but persevere and you'll reap the benefits! i've had one puncture in the last year which was caused by hitting a stone step head on causing a massive burp which was easily re-inflated. Make sure you carry a CO2 inflator with you and a couple of gas cartridges too.

I own a LHD 3 series BMW that i brought back from Germany 3 years ago. I've owned it for 10 years. Driving it over here is a real pain on B roads as you can't see to overtake and it costs more to insure as well (twice as much as my 2 year old 1.8 Zetec Focus. I only use it at weekends to take the mountain bike out on, but i couldn't bear to part with it, or scrap it!!

I've had a set since xmas. swapped them over from candy Sl's. i like the larger platform which gives me better stability on the descents. Just hope the bearings are a bit better than the SL's.
