Cheers Gelert- I was hoping to go to Deggy tomorrow anyway as was going to demo the new stooge for ss duties so hopefully will be able to have a razz on a stage 5
Thanks all – I’m looking more favourably at a cotic flare max or smuggler I think
I can’t get on with 650b as I’ve been riding 29ers for the last 4 years – although have a trek Farley with fat 650b wheels but that’s the same as a 29er tbh
Its difficult to put in words but I had an old 5 and thought it was a great bike that engaged you even when JRA- I didn’t feel that at all with the segment it just felt a bit wooden
Havent you got a jones? I would get a fat front or 29+ on it and run it geared which would cover 99% of trails – possibly with a suspension seat post or a ti/carbon one
Cheers being honest with myself I’m only probably going to have 1 day free so will probably stick to panorama- I’ve already had to cancel a day in whistler on the way over to Vancouver on the realisation that Canada is frikkin huge!!
But you did pay for the 1 x11 set up though didn’t you?
Oh I forgot you probably made that much surplus profit when you took the p155 out of my good nature when I cut you a deal on your last purchase. Which, I would wager you never actually rode before putting for sale at a 30% mark up…..nice work fella!
Ive got clicky wrists which sometimes give me grief and I find I have less discomfort on my Jones than on a full suspension bike – I think it’s a combination of weight distribution and bar angle – loop bars are very sensitive to set up though so worth playing with stem angle, length and bar angle
Anybody going down from the Midlands who fancies doing someone a favour? I’m currently selling my gryphon to a guy who lives in Brighton and is doing the event and it would save the risk of posting and stuff- beer tokens may be available!!
I bought an orange segment- only had one ride so far and its not as poppy as the salsa but possibly a better fit for muddy rides- I’m waiting for a few more rides to decide which way to jump tbh
Lex666 – contact salsa via your dealer they really were excellent to deal with – worked off a photo of the crack and just sent a new chain stay – the new version is supposedly stronger so should be all good
That spot is the weak point- I’ve just had a new chain stay because of the same issue – salsa were very good as it was out of warranty but didn’t quibble and just sent me a replacement. The good news is they’ve changed the weld detail to strengthen it up.
Having said that I bought a new frame when waiting so if anyone wants a large green frame with a strengthened rear its up for grabs
If it’s a new build check it’s got nhbc or similar guarantee which gives 10 years cover- there may be an issue to get the company back to fix minor snags so you need to consider whether you can live with this
