We have a working springer that we got from the local rescue centre and he had clearly been badly mistreated in that if I shout at my very stupid german pointer for doing something like eating a whole loaf of bread (last night) the springer will quite often pee himself!
The biggest challenge for me is giving him exercise first thing in the morning – he is wired as soon as he hears someone get up and starts bouncing off the walls so you have no chance of a lie in- once he has had a runaround for half an hour he is as calm as you like and will curl up and sleep.
Overall though I really like the springer temperament but do wish I'd had him from a pup

I have checked saddle height and pretty sure it's spot on- I will start doing a gentle stretch as advised and see it it helps

Only just started wearing cycling socks (endura 3 pack and aldi are reasonable) as last winter I got fed up of the remnants of a muddy ride still hanging round my work socks despite being through the washing machine

I must admit it's a catch 22 situation- i tend to ride on my own so I don't hold people up but this doesn't get you as fit as going out as a group- I've decided this summer I will be more sociable and hold a few people up to improve my fitness- sorry tazzy 😆

Just gone from a ti456 to an Orange 5 and I must admit clicked with it straight away- it just feels right for me- tbh totally agree with the sizing comments as the 456 never felt 'quite right'.

I know exactly how you feel- I had always wanted a Blur but rode it 3 times and sold it as just didn't bond with it- just had an orange 5 and clicked with it straight away. tbh i think the problem with the blur was the rear shock but couldn't risk spending more money on it and still not liking it

Why don't you all cycle to the start point!

Just sold my ti456 to purchase an orange 5 and went out on Sunday and loved it- probably too much bike for Cannock but it certainly left me feeling I'd made the right decision

Tazzy- I thought you were out of range til today! I am happy to drop round at time kind sir!

thekingofsweden-not spoken to Sam yet as I know if I do I will be pressing the go button so just musing this week (sort of inbuilt cooling off time!) cus as Tazzy alluded to my bike turnover has been a bit nad recently but do really like the look and idea of the gryphon but just question whether I would then feel it too limiting compared with a swift,, but then again a gryphon with brown saddle and brown tape would really look good!!

Chaps- not scared just a little bemused!

What I am after is getting down to 2 bikes- I have a full sus geared job for faster/ nice day riding and at the moment have a road bike and a singlespeed inbred for quick blasts and winter riding (having also just sold a rig).

Therefore the swift/gryphon conundrum lies in whether one of these can replace the 2 bikes most comfortably-tbh I'm not a hardcore hucker- for off road Cannock is my main riding terrain so not too mad.

KingofSweden- what size are you riding and what height are you?

    Cheers

How much of your riding is off road and how much on road?
Do you find no suspension limits what you can do?
What size are you/is the bike?
Looks really good by the way!

I may take you up on the offer my man- I work in Brum so not to far to pop down to sunny Warwick and at the mo I am probably leaning towards the Swift

Thanks for that- just struggling to see what advantages the gryphon has over a swift- it just seems more limited in how you can set it up…..but it is available now 😆

Rawsack-Why didn't I think of looking on the singular website eh!!

Thanks for your incisive help but I was looking for an opinion from perhaps someone who had tried out both in the real world.

They were advertising 2009 anthem x2's a couple of weeks ago on their website- I was very tempted to order on line but thought I'd ring first to make sure they had stock as it seemed very unusual as everyone else has sold out of 2010 models never mind heavily reduced 2009 models- guess what ..they didn't have any!
Would have been interesting to see how long it would have been to advise me of that if I had ordered online.

I had a go at Manchester recently as a corporate event organised by a contractor who had a member of the Bejing GB team rider working for them now- blummin eck he was quick!

Struggled with dry throat as there is no air at all- but found it really good fun- and the banking is quite a good encouragement to keep spinning fast!!

Didn't know I risked losing a leg though!

I had an old beetle and only a 5 mile commute- in the winter the ice was justing to melt off the windscreen as I pulled onto the car park!!

Also had a moggie minor which tbh was alot more reliable (whilst not as cool had the option of starting with a crank handle which I thought was cool on a pub car park once in a while!

On first read the second para seems to be highlighting the negatives in your experience- why don't you leave the 'willing to further bit' and let them read your cv for the actual model of software you are using if it's not quite what they are after

Also it should have an 'enc' at the end of you are enclosing something

I've got a hydrapack big sur and it's pretty good- bite valve not quite upto camelbak standards but reservoir reversible for drying and plenty of room to lose stuff.

The Goldtec boys have a tuesday ride there- meet at 6pm by the Harvester just down from Trentham Gardens
As everyone says it's nowhere near as large as Cannock but is good for a few hours if you link a few bits together (Beech, Trentham Park, Trentham Gardens (cheeky!) etc)

I put petrol in a 525 Bmw joined the motorway promptly conked out – recovery guy drained tank and sent me on my way no problem – although he did warn me that some of the electric gizmos were at risk of needing resetting at the dealers (this wasn't necessary)
Either I was lucky or it backs up the fact that garages take advantage.
