I haven’t read the book, but the epilogue in the film did “re-frame” what had come before. I didn’t think it ruined the story though – the re-framing is what raises most of the interesting philosophical questions at the heart of the film.

Agreed. I think the epilogue makes the film.

My 10 year old and 8 year old both enjoyed it. I guess some children may find it a little slow in parts or a bit scary if they’re of a nervous disposition.

I think if you’ve measured it as mentioned at 3.5 inches then it’s got to be a 90mm stem.

I split Jedi and rogermoore down the middle agewise today. Celebrated by a pootle in the New Forest with my youngest son before a pub lunch and descent into an afternoon torpor.

I recently changed the chain on mine and ended up having to replace the cassette as well. I doubt I got any more than 700 miles.

I’ve not heard of anyone running two chains before. Is that common? Could that adversely affect the rate of wear (not sure how, just putting it out there…)?

Thanks all. Definitely some advice here I will use to try to complement the bike fit.

My eldest son started off on a Halfords clunker. It was heavy and the brakes were poor causing him to lack confidence.

We then chanced upon a bike test day locally where my son tried an Islabike. I’d never heard of them so had no bias but I could see his confidence swell in the 10 minutes or so he enjoyed on that bike. I bought him his first Islabike soon after.

Although they are expensive the enjoyment he and my youngest son have had out of all the Islabikes they have had since makes the cost more than worth it in my eyes.

Nice music. Think I’ll have to check out some more Midlake.

Great photos – they make it look a lot harder than it did on the TV. I soiled myself just looking at them.

I fancy visiting Afan but am quite a noob (about 6 months “serious” riding).

Should it be doable if I ride within my limits or would death be inevitable?

I found Louis Garneaux to be a good fit for my wide feet.

I bought a new bike 9 months ago and only recently measured the chain, finding that it had stretched by 1%. I decided to change it, but then found it slipping so had to change the cassette as well. I reckon if I’d stuck with the old chain and cassette I’d have got plenty more wear.

So either change the chain regularly or wait and replace everything – don’t follow my half arsed approach!

I recently switched to SPDs. It didn’t take much getting used to even though my riding’s quite incompetent to begin with! The problem when I did do a few comedy falls to start with was that it’s much harder to unclip when lying on the floor.

The one thing I still find tricky is stalling on a steep climb and having to get a foot down quickly.

I recently bought the Halfords 4 bike carrier for £180. It weighs 15kg so can carry 4 * 15kg bikes to remain within my car’s 75kg limit.

My only criticism of it is that it requires 3 straps to secure each bike and threading each of these through it’s buckle takes a bit of time. I might try to get some alternative straps which are quicker to secure.

Overall though, good value for money.

I was also put off by the Knog reviews so researched alternative lights which are USB rechargeable and have the quick release strap rather than fixing to a bracket.

I ended up plumping for the Moon Gem and have been happy with them in the 3 or so months for which I have been using them so far.

If you also wanted to try the Beinn 20 Large I have two over in Fleet (but going on ebay this weekend so only around for another 1.5 – 2 weeks).

Of those who have recommended Neoprene, what thickness would you suggest? I’m wondering if 3mm would be too inflexible.

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to start by trying the cheap option of woolly gloves underneath a pair of Marigolds!
