Don’t try and undo it from the drive side, undo it from the non-drive side, the inside of the X.

    Another +1 for Snowcard.

I like the fact you can select the type of mountain biking your doing. A lot of insurance companies will say they cover mountain biking but really they cover riding on road or fire trails when you look into it, so try make a claim off piste in the alps down some remote single track and you’ll have trouble.

Last trip to the alps 4 of us all used Snowcard and my mate had to be heli lifted off the mountain on a back country day as he fell off and dislocated his shoulder, they took him to hospital and did X-rays etc. Snowcard covered all this no questions asked, they even paid up for his GoPro that was lost.

I now use them for Ski and Mountain biking, expensive but at least they pay up when needed.

I’m currently waiting on a large ship to bring me all my belongings, including my bike to Australia. Its painful living off a suitcase full of stuff. 1 month down and many weeks to go :(

@batfink, actually moving to Canberra, ACT due to visa’s.. but it turns out it should suit us, couple of hours from Sydney, the beech, snowfields and has some decent mountain biking on door step. So hopefully we’ll settle in well.

I am surprised nobody has suggested the possibility that it’s a sticker.

Wish is was a sticker, it would save me some hassle and expense right now.

Thanks for all your input STW.. I plan to keep my teeth and face intact so will be getting a new crown steerer unit, do I basically have to go to somewhere like Mojo for this?

have you forced a hed doctor into a steerer thats too small for it?

I haven’t done anything, had the bike 2 years and never touched the forks apart from sending for services.

Last time I stripped it down and dropped the forks out was around december I think and it was all fine then.

We put a little rhyme on our invites…

“Please don’t add to our paraphernalia help our start in Australia.
We don’t wish to sound rude or funny, please no gifts but maybe some money.
All our stuff is with the shipper, some Aussie dollars would be ripper.
But most importantly we request, that you come to our wedding as our guest.”

FYI, I got my Gorilla Tape from Homebase for under £3(i think) if your looking to go buy some.

    Homebase Gorilla Tape

The 25mm tape is perfect for Stans Flows, no need to trim the width.

Proper tubeless valves with removable cores, if the tyres are a pain to get on and off the rim it makes it a million times easier to get the sealant in.

Who needs A Line when you’ve got upper and lower cliff descents :)

I used Gorillia Tape on Stans Flows, with Stans sealant and its been perfect. I like with gorilla tape you can pull it hard and really work the tape to the rim after.

Awesome video, love timelapse photos and videos.

Anyone know the techniques involved? I’m guessing HD camera on a wire moving extremely slow moving over X period of time..

How long to shoot one of those segments?

seriously thinking of going back to xp from windows 7 had more blue screens of death in the last week than in 10 yrs of using of xp.

Windows 7 is solid, I’d say its more likely a rogue driver, malware or a bit of hardware starting to fail if your having major propblems.

As for the validation problem, This can happen if the registry gets corrupt or if you have a major hardward change or of course your key is blacklisted for a particular reason.

Make sure you have E111 and just get good travel insurance which covers the type of riding your doing. A lot of the cheaper insurance will say Mountain Biking, but they basically cover riding a bike, not lift assisted mountain riding. Me and My mates used Snowcard Insurance for our trip to the Whiterooms this year and my mate ended up crashing and needed heli evac from a remote trail with a dislocated shoulder. Snowcard were great and covered his costs without question, I have used them a few times now for biking and skiing, thankfully I’ve not needed to claim.

One thing to note if you add a new large faster HDD watch out for the noise, I got a WD 500GB Black to upgrade from the standard 250GB and the noise was unbearable turned the silent MacBook Pro into a noisy standard laptop.

I soon ditched it and went back to the 250GB drive and about to hit the button on a 480GB SSD.

Lube the bead, put the tyre on the rim leaving the valve section till last, make sure the tyre is sitting in the centre of the rim… then the bodge…. stand on the tyre thats yet to pop on the rim so its tight then push the rim away from you, should do it..

Which SSD did you go for?

I’ve got a 2011 MacBook Pro and its feeling a little aged now, would rather a £300 upgrade over a new MacBook Pro at the moment.

We did it this July to Seez which is just out of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, toll costs were…

    Out
    €32.20
    €41
    €11
    €5.20

    Return
    €5.20
    €11
    €41
    €21.70

Definitely recommend driving, yes its a long day but you can take so much stuff with you like tools and spares etc.. If there are a few of you sharing the cost it works out similar to flying anyway with tolls, fuel and tunnel.

I always think you pretty much waste a whole day when flying anyway with travel to airport, wait at airport, flight and transfer the other end. We usually get an early train around 5am and get to resort for around 5pm.

Also, goto Tokyo fish market very early and have some of the freshest sashimi in the world. Although raw fish at 6am can be challenging :)

I’d say road although I’m yet to have a bad fall. Wiping out at 25-30+ mph on the road would suck!

Wiping out at 30mph sucks anytime, I came off earlier in the year at this speed on the then baked hard clay, that equalled broken collar bone and wasted 9months of the year.

If you have a volume licence, why not use that to licence your VM?

Often the volume license T&Cs requires a license to already be on the machine, eg. XP Home, XP Pro, Win7 Home to allow you to legally run a VL key. This wouldn’t be the case on a VM

We did Midlands to Morzine in a hired T5 Minibus, removed the back row of seats to store 4 bikes and all luggage, food and beer supplies etc… Plently big enough and comfy with decent economy. I don’t think tolls were any more than cars but the tunnel was a couple of quid more.

Also done Midlands to Les Arcs in a Nissan Navara, not as comfy as T5 but enough room.
