I’d go with the GoPro, had a contour and found its mount system limiting. You can attach the GoPro to pretty much anything now.

v8ninety, where abouts in the Wyre? I did the same at about 30+ mph in the Wyre over Button Oak side. Storming down a bit of single track and clipped a hidden stump just on edge of path. I travelled a massive distance in the air, then landed hard.

I’d love to know local stats on MTB Collar bone breaks in Wyre, I know personally of about 4 people and seen plenty more on here.

Don’t accept anything but a plate, they pissed me around for 6 months saying it would fix, it was in 3 pieces and nearly coming through the skin… It didn’t fix and eventually they admitted defeat and plated it… Its been fine since and causes me no real issues.

7 weeks off the bike in Tassie has got to be hard, can’t wait to get down there this summer.

If you can’t find a good bit of riding in the Wyre then I don’t think you like bikes. Its not super exciting but its great for going for a fun ride. You can easily knock out 15 – 20 miles without duplicating trails.

    Strava explore trails like

    Jumpies
    Jungle Run
    Jedi (that rocketdogs pics from)
    Double death
    3 Bears
    Pepsi Max
    Camber
    Caravan

    to name a few….

Don’t forget to go explore over button oak side.

Sorry I can’t provide any decent GPX.

Heard and seen a lot about the tweed valley and it looks good, but do you need a guide or is it easy to find the good stuff?

Thanks for all the replies, some helpful advice there.

I enjoy all aspects and would love to do some non-trail centre riding but a couple in our don’t like long XC type rides, so I’m guessing sticking to trail centres would be best.

If we were to do one epic full day back country ride, where would you ride?

I bust mine into three pieces before an alps trip, was off the bike for about 8 weeks, the doctors insisted on leaving it to “heal” by itself. I ended up going and riding with the whiterooms while it was bust and got on ok, it was sore by the end of the day and I was lucky not to fall off. The big problem was no insurance company would cover my shoulder only the rest of me, but with E111 i took the risk and turned out ok..

Had to wait another couple of months after coming back from the alps and they finally decided to plate it as it hadn’t joined one bit.

A lot of the consumer NAS, such as the QNAPs and Synology come with iTunes server installed or at least have DLNA which will allow you to stream wirelessly.

    Snapped mine into 3…

NHS made me wait and wait for it to heal, even did a weeks holiday in the alps with it separated still, that was painful riding at times.

Finally they said it wouldn’t fix so they plated it.

Was off the bike for around 6 months in total :( Plate is still in now and doesn’t really cause a problem, slightly restricted movement but not really noticeable, I just get a little scared at the thought of coming off and snapping the plate..

We hired a VW T5 Shuttle, which is the minibus Transporter van. It had 8 seats, but there was only 4 of us so we removed the back set of seats which was just a matter of pulling a lever, this would still allow 5 people. This gave us room for our bikes inside and all our kit. It also mean’t I could drive it because it was under 8 seats, we clarified this with DVLA.

It was also pretty good on fuel running at about 40mpg, we went to Morzine in it.

NSW is pretty big, you can probably fit the UK in it. There is plenty of good riding, but its spread out. Check out Tartha its awesome, ride in the morning and chill on the beach in the afternoon.

I live in Canberra, ACT, moved from Worcestershire in 2014.

Riding here is pretty good, but is very XC based, seems the trail builders are scared of jumps and other features, except for at Stromlo.

Check out theberm.com.au and have a look at Kowen, Sparrow Hill, Stromlo, Bruce Ridge, Majura and even Tuggeranong Pines for a bit of freeride fun.

No, AirPrint is a protocol(sort of) the printer needs to support it. Just having a wireless printer won’t make it work with the iPad.

There might be a device like a print server to enable AirPrint or you could go the DIY route and build one from RaspberryPi

Stick it in a bowl of rice, that will draw the moisture out like the silica gel.

    Try http://www.mountainhighs.co.uk/

We had a chalet from them one summer, nice 3 bedroom place in middle of town. It had WiFi and Sky TV etc, large open lounge, kitchen, diner. Also a garage with boot dryers.

Think the apartment we had was Les Drus 2, http://www.mountainhighs.co.uk/apartment-les-drus-2.html

It was pretty cheap in summer, not sure about the Winter season though.

Depends how easy you find it.

Took me 9 lessons, my mate did his a day or so after his 17th birthday and I know others that had like 50 lessons and took test 5 times.

Quite a few stupid things thinking back

    – 3 of us in car on a country lane, put the car in second and pointed it straight and all jumped out, left it a few seconds then raced to see who could catchup and jump into the drivers seat first.

    – 8 cars abreast racing down a disused runway

    – usual antics in the snow, getting a drift on.

What sort of riding? If your willing to travel a little come to Canberra and ride Stromlo and Kowen Forest. Would be 3hrs from Sydney.

If you, want some gravity riding head to Thredbo.

There are trails at Manly Dam, which would be pretty close to Sydney, i’ve not been so can’t comment. I would imaging there is plenty out in Blue Mountains but again not ridden there.

I’ve not long moved over to Oz and living in ACT so only really started exploring…

I have the Nikon aw120 its a great camera. With some nice features such as GPS and WiFi. WiFi allows you to upload them directly or transfer to your iPhone on the go. No waiting to get back to your laptop.

Used it in the sea, pool and snow

Mine didn’t work in France last week, even tried using unblock US.

I think you must have done something wrong!

My UK subscription works fine in Australia using unblock-us.com

I’d say you need to see Tokyo at night, its a crazy site and a must. Also if you’re into Sushi/Sashimi head to the fish markets early morning like 5am and get some of the best and freshest Sashimi ever.

Also you need to sample a kiren beer with a frozen top :) yummy

Be prepared to pay, its not that cheap.

Except in the winter when its the wettest, coldest place on earth!

100% agree, I did it late one afternoon and it chucked it down all the way round, the tracks were like rivers and the wind really picked up.

Enjoyed it, but would love to try it on a nice summers day.

Put the mouse pointer to the top right corner and you’ll get the side menu appear, click on the settings cog at the bottom and you’ll see Shutdown.

Ctrl-Alt-Del might also so a shutdown option, can’t remember of top of my head.

Call in at Blazing Bikes – http://www.blazingbikes.co.uk/
I’m pretty sure they do some shop rides and the chap in there is very helpful and will draw you a map if you fancy heading out by yourself.

There is some great riding on the Long Mynd.

I use VM Ware Fusion with windows 7 – works well for the few bits of windows software I have to use.

    and this

Having an SSD makes using VMs much more tolerable as VMs will load/boot much faster than a traditional disk.

One thing not to like about Morzine, they make you wear budgie smugglers in the pool.

Everything else is awesome, your can’t beat.. mountain chalet, fresh pastries, all day gravity riding and evening beers.. All the place needs is a few coach loads of attractive women to dilute the man-ness.

I’d say don’t go too cheap with a gas BBQ, we had a cheap £120 one from Homebase and it never really got hot enough. This was good as it was hard to burn food but took ages to cook!

@joshvegas, I could but it’ll be a pain in the arse. I’ll be staying in the midlands so plan to ride my old local the Wyre Forest and a few trips out to Wales. I’ll need something to do during the day as there is only so much catching up with family and friends you can do and what better way to spend a trip than on your bike. :)

Looks like i’ll be wearing all my clothes for two weeks onto the plane looking like the michelin man and using my baggage allowance to bring the bike. What makes it worse is my Mrs wants to take hers as well, so we’ll get stung twice.

I know its Wales but, has anyone been to BPW and had dry, dusty and sunny day? Both times i’ve been its been nasty, 1st was torrential rain and I wasn’t on the uplift, soul destroying ride up into the cloud/mist/fog and the 2nd it snowed, we managed 2 runs and the bus got stuck so that was it for the day.

Look forward to seeing some Sunny edits during the Summer.

Brechfa still fully ridable? Wasn’t there a wind farm or something going in where the trails ran?

    I maybe confused….
