Was up there last night for our weekly night blast, it’s not riding well, anything other than hardpack/bedrock is a slimey mess. It was snowing heavily too. Not sure on the prices but for sorted geometry, Cannondales F29 in carbon or Ally are spot on. I’d also say good things about Giants XTCs, also consider similar from Specialized. When checking out specs, consider the wheel tyre combo. Makes an even bigger difference than you might first think.

I commute, and always have a couple of rears, most are good. However, I do recommend a ‘Bones’ led rear from On-one to attach to your helmet, colleagues remark how well they can see me. Cheap as, good service too.

NBITF, I get where you’re coming from, but beg to differ, from experience, facing the BB shell ends is a good idea. This ensures the bearings are square and aligned with the chainset spindle, this can aid in BB longevity. Misalignment can occur when prior to threading, the BB shell is not entirely square with face. Threading machine will follow this misalignment. Hope this reads as well as I imagine it in my head. F29 2 to my eyes is the better looing model. On longer events when I’m either V cold, or bone tired, I do appreciate the lighter shifting of XTR.
