Sharki, good news on Snaggletooth, I had it on my to do list ‘cos as Jambo says, it had become almost impassable due to the Rhoddies. Do you anticipate it being a regular ‘XC’ section for a good while? I’d intended using it on our thurs night jaunts. Nice and Spooky, you know.

Leave it in the airing cupboard with the rubber grommet thing out, at least overnight. Good luck.

    What are the brakes O355?

Fibre, I’ve just got one of those, taking it offroad for first time tomorrow night. Why did you change the brakes btw? standard no name things seem alright on the blacktop.

Excellent, well done. If I recollect, if you win a cat4, you get automatically promoted to 3rd cat. (may not be right)

Was up there last night for our weekly night blast, it’s not riding well, anything other than hardpack/bedrock is a slimey mess. It was snowing heavily too. Noticed on way to work this morn that the snow had thawed tho’. Best of luck. If you can get there, one of the trail centres would be a better bet.

Not sure on the prices but for sorted geometry, Cannondales F29 in carbon or Ally are spot on. I’d also say good things about Giants XTCs, also consider similar from Specialized. When checking out specs, consider the wheel tyre combo. Makes an even bigger difference than you might first think.

I commute, and always have a couple of rears, most are good. However, I do recommend a ‘Bones’ led rear from On-one to attach to your helmet, colleagues remark how well they can see me. Cheap as, good service too.

NBITF, I get where you’re coming from, but beg to differ, from experience, facing the BB shell ends is a good idea. This ensures the bearings are square and aligned with the chainset spindle, this can aid in BB longevity. Misalignment can occur when prior to threading, the BB shell is not entirely square with face. Threading machine will follow this misalignment. Hope this reads as well as I imagine it in my head. Happy new year

F29 2 to my eyes is the better looing model. On longer events when I’m either V cold, or bone tired, I do appreciate the lighter shifting of XTR.

USA is an interesting option, not sure I’d go that route myself. For various reasons, I use my LBS

I have a similar mentality, I went for the 1 as I wanted Shimano shifting primarily, this also gives Carbon lefty, and the Reynolds wheels. Not all plain sailing mind you, being Pre-prod, there were a couple of anomalies that Cannondale sorted immediately. Still getting used to it, probably done about 10 hours so far. No downsides at all. Lovin’ it

This can only sound like gloating, not entirely intended. I too rode the demo Flash, and ordered a 2013. Finding out about the multi delayed delivery, my dealer somehow got me a pre production sample. Stick with it, be patient, the wait is worth it

    As above really.

If you would like an inexpensive lunch, but not on the mountain, Tignes le lac, Spar (I think) has an excellent take out, always a couple of hot options, even has a few tall bar tables in the entrance to nosh at.

Not sure of the year, 1988 maybe, Start line of RAC rally in Grizedale I think, Michele Mouton, Walter Rohrl in Audi quattro S4s the ground shaking all around us, then total traction, and they’re gone.

Just recently, had a great day out following ToB stage to Dartmouth on Motor bike, saw 4 spots. Such effort from the whole peloton, totally on it!
