Parts of Glasgow you cant walk about in certain colours because it means your associated with the 'other' team.

Very true. I often biked past Celtic park on my way home from work in fear as I was riding a bike made by Orange which was also I lovely shade of Rangers blue.

Summer? When I was last in Glasgow it was on the 22nd of July from 2 till 3 in the afternoon.

Had a quick look at that website, looks pretty good. Not sure I could quite mange the plan you recommended yet but it looks good/hard.

Whilst we're on the subject of trainers…

Anyone recommend a decent program to do on one? I picked up one 2nd hand to try and regain my fitness after a badly broken collar bone skiing in August. With summer rapidly approaching (here in NZ) I don't want to spend the first few weeks struggling to climb even the smallest hill.

I think they've been spotted from the Magnus oil rig about 160 miles north of Shetland. Never saw one when I was there but some of 'locals' said they'd seen them in winter.

The biggest cycling forum is http://www.vorb.org.nz It has a reasonable classified section.

I'm based in Wellington, if you want to sort a bike out before you get here I'll happily store it for you till you arrive

    No worries Colin.

It was an awesome night for sure. Great game of football followed up by watching my ex have a fight with a transexual on Cuba St!

Awesome result!! The best game I've been too for years, fantastic crowd who got right behind the team right from kickoff. The Westpac with a sellout crowd is a noisy place

Did you get a ticket Colin? I managed to pick one up this morning for not too much money after I forgot to get one before they sold out.
Leuven for pre-match beers if you're going, text me oh two one, oh two one, oh two one, one seven (yes it is a real number)

[plane spotter mode]It's a Airbus A340 300 series. The one with hairdryers for engines so it has bugger all climb performance. If it's a northerly tomorrow the place to watch it depart will be Mt Kaukau as it scrapes the masts struglling to gain height [\plane spotter mode]

    Air Traffic Controller.

Every day is different, a bit challenging when it gets busy, but in a good way.
Cheap flights, short hours, good pay and loads of time off. I worked around 150 days in the last year. My neighbours all think I'm unemployed.

Don't take her back whatever you do. She's walked out once so she'll do it again and again and again. You'll feel just as shit every time

Go out, drink Absinthe, pick up a cheap slapper/hooker and enjoy.

    When you're sober ride bike.

Friday night in NZ as well. Relaxing with a bottle of Monteith's.

I bloody well deserve it, I had to go to work today (for over 6 (yes six) hours! The 5th day I've had to work since the end of July. I have to work tomorrow as well. I've actually got 6 more days work this month until I get another fortnight off.
You lot don't know what hard work is!!

In all my time working in aviation I've never heard a C130 (other than the C130T above) called Fat Albert.

I'm not saying you're wrong by the way, I know that different fields of aviation call different aircraft by different names. I've always just called the C130 whichever variant they are

The C130 in the first pic is the only one known as Fat Albert.

The 737-100 and 200 series were occasionly called Fat Albert but the name hasn't stuck with later variants as they've got longer and lost the short and stubby look.

As for the beasts of burden I've always liked these.

We had one in at Wellington a couple of months ago. Looked good on departure with an aircraft with a MTOW of 585,000lbs rotating just past the midpoint on a runway just over 2000m long. Pretty impressive short field performance

I believe you stuartie. You will be massively in the minority though. The majority of of Scotch people hate the English. Quite a lot of them seem to use there hatred of the English as a way of defining there national identity.

Nice one with your daughter. I've just won having mine 50/50 split so I can half share in your joy! I'm starting on the case for full care soon, the evidence is building.

What pisses me off is that even with a 50/50 split of time I still have to pay around 30% of my wages in "child support".

The point being that there are 3 different speeds, ground speed, true air speed and indicated air speed.

You forgot to mention the 4th type of speed.
That's the one you claim to be flying when you've busted the speed control imposed by ATC.

I enjoyed it. As others have said it's not your usual alien film, even if it was slightly predictable in places. Not amazingly good but still worth watching.

I'm up, just about to tuck into some nice stew and dumplings, then relax for the evening.
Gorgeous spring day today, no riding though due to a broken collar bone. I did manage a 15km walk up a wee mountain though.

No major bike injuries at all. Skiing injuries are a different matter, 3 torn ligaments all in the knee, 10 stitches in my head when my girlfriend at the time skied over it, and a few breaks (including collarbone 3 weeks ago).

I keep trying to hurt myself on a bike and have had many a spectacular crash but always seem to walk out of it.

Sorry for the wee thread hijack but….

NZCol, I lost your your e-mail address. Fancy a pint sometime? A bike ride is out the question at the moment as I broke my collar bone down at Mt Hutt a couple of weeks ago.

The other guy was much worse, rushed to hospital with a suspected fractured skull and severe concussion. He was out cold for 5 minutes

If you go and don't like it you can always come back.

If you don't go you'll be wondering if you made the right choice for the rest of your life.
