Sadly I think it’s a dead cert the AB’s will destroy the Japs tonight.

Just scored 2 free tickets for the SA v Fiji game tomorrow night through work so I think I’ll have to do the same as Col and pick up a Fiji flag.

all the haters can fuk off and do something else.

Exactly what I am doing. Just about to head off to Makara for a blustery night ride.

I’m getting so sick of hearing about the RWC. At first I was quite looking forward to it but now I just hope the AB’s fail spectacularly.

I had a teacher at school who often told me I’d never get a job staring out the window all day.

I’m now an air traffic controller

Ben Lomond is worth doing. A bit of pushing required going up but a looong descent. Go later in the day so you have a good clear run down free of walkers.

My oldest daughter just snapped her radius in 2 places this evening.
It better be all fixed in 3 weeks time as we have a skiing holiday booked.

Certainly feel those poor Cantabrians, a swarm of ‘quakes today.
A mag 5.5, a 6.0, 2 quakes around 4.5 and about 9 or so others in excess of 3.0 magnitude.

Certainly led to a chaotic day at work for me especially with the volcanic dust cloud thrown in for good measure.

Just fitted one on my 06 S-works Enduro along with a set of Vans up front.
Quite simply the best upgrade I’ve fitted to a bike ever.
Felt fantastic straight out the box with the ‘factory’ settings, spent a couple of days riding the same short sections of trail adjusting the settings and it feels even better now.

Defo worth spending some time getting it set up properly. Read the manual so you understand exactly how it works and then go out with a pen and paper and make small adjustments each time and take a note of what you’ve done.

Converted my 06 TALAS to Vans a couple of months ago.

I think the parts cost around NZ$250-300 so I’d guess that’d be around 150 in real money (no pound sign on stupid keyboard)

Pretty easy job to do, took me an hour at the most. Nothing tricky in it at all provided you a reasonable amount of mechanical ability. No special tools needed.

MOJO or someone like that will be able to make up a kit with all the parts you need. I could try to list them all but I’d likely forget something.

If the rebound side works fine and the stanchions and lowers are all in good condition then I’d say go for it.

TV and PS3 will work, only problem is the TV here is utter crap.

Sky have an HD service and you can buy Freeview boxes as well.
Better idea is to set up a proxy thingy and watch BBC iPlayer.

I moved to Wellington from Glasgow 4 years ago and I must say that biking wise Wellington is awesome. Makara Peak is just one of a few places, Mt Vic, Wrights Hill, Hawkins hill, Wainuimata, Belmont, Miramar and more

Click on the Wellington link in the following website.

Normally I think the Sovereign is one of the nicest bikes around to look at.

The hideous blue on that one is utterly horrendous. Very interesting that by simply adding a few mismatched blue components in an attempt to achieve beauty you have turned a great bike into an eyesore, it looks more like something you’d find abandoned in an ASDA carpark
Or was it simply a cunning way to dissuade thieves from nicking it? If it was then congratulations on a job well done

I spent a few years working offshore in cementing and then coil tubing.
I enjoyed when I was young, single and no kids. The work was good, challenging at times but with a lot of boredom while waiting for the job to start.
I discovered that their actually is a limit to how much porn one can watch.

Once family came along I quit and moved on to something totally different. I couldn’t stand being away from the kids for 2-3 weeks at a time, especially as I wasn’t on a fixed rotation so I never knew how long each trip would be or how long I’d have at home.

The money is good once you’ve built up some experience but IMHO not worth it when you have family.

Just heard that one of my work colleagues from Christchurch airport tower has tragically lost her life. She was buried under a collapsed building in the CBD.
Makes it seem all the more real when it’s someone you know even though I only met her once.

I didn’t feel it in Welly either, although I think it has scared a lot of people here more than the Sept quake in ChCh did.

I’m another one in Wellington just shocked at the devastation just a few miles south.
Been speaking to a couple of pilot friends who have been flying ambulance flights in and out. They told me the scale of the destruction is if anything worse than it appears in the media. Incredible number of aftershocks as well, one of them said he felt 4-5 decent sized shocks while waiting on the tarmac at Christchurch airpport for patients.
Thankfully all my friends and colleagues in Chch have been accounted for and no serious injuries, just rather shaken by the events. A couple had a terrrifying time in particular in the new control tower at the airport which was swayed a huge amount during the quake.

For anyone looking for friends/realtives there is a google person finder set up:

Don’t have any pics of mine but I’m using a Macbook Pro running Ableton, Reason and a few VST’s. Hardware wise all I have as a Novation Nocturn Keyboard which I don’t like plus an Akai APC40 which I love.

Tried many using Fruityloops, Cubase and Logic in the past all are excellent but for me nothing comes close to Ableton. It’s pretty good at the production side of things but really comes into it’s own (IMHO) for mixing/DJing. I have a few finished tracks but now I tend to make loads of shorter loops and mix them into other tracks.

I spent a couple of days at BA’s Cranebank training centre a few years ago and my opinion of Cabin Crew went up ahuge amount after that. A much harder job than most people would imagine. The “trolley dolly” side of it is only a small part of the job. The real job is what to do in the event of an emergency.
On the other hand my opinion of pilots remains as low as ever, Bunch of slack arsed glorified bus drivers who are only in it to sleep with the cabin crew.

Personally I prefer Ableton. I run it with an Akai APC40 and a Novation controller keyboard on a Macbook Pro

It just seems to fit better with the way I want to work. I know others that swear by Traktor and others that love Serrato.
The best bet is to try them all and see which one fits the way you work best.

The thing I love about Ableton is the ability to make my own wee loops and bring them into the mix.

So what you're saying GW is that short ones are stiffer?

I made a fairly big change a number of years ago from working in the offshore drilling industry to being an air traffic controller. Big risk to start with as the pass rate for training is well under 50% from ab-initio trainee at the training centre to being a full rated controller. I also took a drop in pay from 30K+ a year under 20K initially. It's paid off now though as I'm earning a lot more than if I'd stayed in my previous job, it's also taken me to the other side of the world (currently working in NZ).
Much better than before, more money, less hours, cheap flights and really enjoyable job which is nowhere near as stressful as you'd think

    World cup next year

As if I didn't need reminding. Getting sick of hearing about it already.

I'm leaving the country for the duration (can't stand egg chasing)so if anyone wants to rent a nice house in Wellington get in touch. Use of all bike maintenance stuff I have is included at a very reasonable price….

'Kin awesome result. I let the kids stay up late to watch it so no school for them in the morning (it's 0130 here in NZ).

More proof that football is rapidly starting to overtake eggball as the national sport (at least in Wellington anyway)

is it a bit chilly in the mountains in april for riding? Like is there any snow?

Not a huge amount of snow in April, ski season doesn't start till June. There will be some snow up the tops but there always is. All the biking trails should still be well below the snow line at that time of year.

Personally I can't stand airshows. Causes a major headache trying to separate everything, throw in a few non-transponder or even non-radio equipped aircraft trundling through my airspace and it just gets worse.

But for those that do like them this is one of the best there is, complete with some awesome riding nearby.

Not so nice autumn day over the ditch in Welly, NZ.
pouring rain, the usual wind and lots of muddy wet roots. A great ride today though, makes a nice change from dry dusty trails all summer.
