Might see you on the trail, there’s a good chance I’ll be around there Sunday morning from about 8 if all goes to plan.

    Are you riding this Sunday?

Yes, that’s a better decent IMO. Jaggers is okay at the start with a couple of nice little rocks you can pop a bit of air off, then there’s a a quick right and then a left which are fun but most of the height is lost down a straight wide track surfaced in marble sized gravel. Plus as someone else said there’s no runout because of the stream, so you’re on the brakes half way down the hill.

The Roman road is longer (or at least you can ride faster for longer) loads of rocks and ‘jump’ options, much more technical. Depends on what you want I guess.

If you wanted to extend from Hope Cross, IMHO you would be better continuing down the Roman Road into Hope, turn right, along the road and up past Jaggers back to the cross. The Roman Road is a better decent than Jaggers.

Better still would be go past Derwent Damn from the start at Fairholmes, along the NE side of Ladybower and up Derwent Edge on the flag stones (this is a tough climb all the way to the top). Get to Whinestone Lee Tor and drop back down to the back of the Ladybower pub (there is a sneaky one straight on at the junciton at the top or a longer BW that heads east then doubles back on itself to the pub. Anyway, cross the bridge towards Bamford and head for Aston, turn R past Twitchhill Farm and past Hope Brink (both named on the map) and climb back to Hope Cross, then decend the Roman Road to the bottom of the Lockerbrook climb and back to Fairholmes.

You should be able to do the whole thing in 2 hours ish.

Aah! In that case it all makes perfect sense. (Well about as much sense as the OP is going to get I fear)

Can you poach a sausage? I think MrNutt may be exagerating somewhat!

If you’d said ‘baked’ a sausage under Roy Hattersley’s chin I wouldn’t have doubted it.

I’ve cooked sausages on a camping trip using the sun and a magnifying glass !

I’ve also cooked a soft poached egg by cracking it into a condom and holding it under my armpit for and hour while I went for a ride on my bike.

Plus, rather controversially, I’ve warmed up a tin of soup by placing it deep inside the intestines of a recently deceased elephant.

Not all Morzine is DH’ing, there’s loads of XC stuff too. I wouldn’t rule it out but would suggest a guide to find the best bits.

Also the Pyranees are good for big up and down XC riding. Probably a bit far to drive for 7 days though.

Les Arcs is good too, based in Bourg Saint Maurice, less DH and much more hardcore XC. Check out http://www.chillchalet.com for digs and guiding, also Rob at http://www.thecoolbus.co.uk does guiding too.

Other than that there will be loads of other stuff, France is a big place :o) My advise would be to contact some of the bike holiday companies, they can make everything so much easier.

How about a road bike the wrong way down a motorway?

That should get the pulse racing and improve your reactions.

PoisonSpider Cycles is a shop in Moab.

(S’pose it was just a surreptitious way of bragging about having been there – )

If there are no seperator characters and it is just a long string, you can use LEFT, MID and RIGHT functions to lift text strings from it. This will only work if the different entries have the same character lengths and positions in every string.

BTW – Parrot (with one ‘t’ apparently) is still going as a brand. Checkout http://www.dalesware.co.uk for the range.

They look exactly the same ?? Still v. cheap though.

DezB – I think you’re right, it is a Parrott top. Mine is (or was, now very faded) blue.

    Anyone remember Parrott?

I’ve still got a few tops, some leggings and a windproof! They were internerd only and very reasonable, decent quality kit. Defunct now I think.

    Quick loop

It’s only short at 9mile but it’s half decent if time is at a premium.

I’m in Farnley (just down the road) on the 26th visiting the folks but I don’t think it would go down too well suggesting I go for a ride :o(

Another vote for the Mondeo I’m afraid.

Way bigger than the Skoda and Astra, nicer inside than the Toyota, better specced than BMW for the same money, more reliable than the Citreon etc.

TDCi is thursty if you have a lead foot but comparable to a Vectra.

Cheap to service etc but IIRC tyres were a bit steep ‘cos they were a odd size.

We’ve used a Hamax recliner for both our kids. Our first born was on the small side, similar percentile to your daughter but she was fine with the seat reclined a bit. Just don’t forget she’s there and go flying off the usual drops on your favourite trail (from experience  )

I was out last night for a couple of hours round the woods near Notts.

It was ‘kin freezing and the road bits were lethal. The bits in the woods were, on the other hand, very enjoyable, deep and crisp and even, even.

Why would you care so much that you had to tell us this? He’s not even a mountain biker. :?:

To be fair, (and I’m not trying to sound like a blacker-dog, honest) I did mine half way down a mountain in Morzine. Managed to ride to the bottom of the hill, up a cable car and down the other side, allong the road to the digs in Les Gets, got pissed, went disco dancing and 10 pin bowling then went to the medical centre the day after. That was the end of my holiday only 2 days in

That sounds more likely to be some sort of fuel cutoff switch designed to got engine power in a collision.

It’s normally an icon of a car with wavey skid marks behind it (snigger) a bit like the slippy surface road sign.

ABS doesn’t but traction control does. If you have traction control it will normally flash a warning symbol when it’s actived. You should be able to turn it off, which is actually advisable if you are stuck in snow or ice.

The GP should be able to refer you straight to the fracture clinic without going through A&E although you would need to wait for an appointment. A&E is the fastest route to an x-ray.

    poisonspider

In all seriousness, you’re not going to get a diagnosis on here
but in my experience of breaking stuff (which is quite extensive) I can always tell something is not right, it feels ‘different’ to just a ‘normal’ injury.

I’ve boken my knee before and walking was definitely not an option. I’d give it a few more days and if no better see a GP (who will more than likely refer you straight to the fracture clinic for an x-ray)

Other than the two individuals involved, no-one really knows what’s gone on.

If the bearings are genuinely knackered then it should have been made clear from the outset and the seller ought to put his hand up to it and sort it out (ie a refund).

If on the other hand (and if I had to make a bet, this would be where my money is), the buyer is about as mechanically minded as my 5 year old and has been fed a line by a shop mechanic. Instead of trying to resolve this sensibly he has resorted to flaming the seller on a forum. Shame on him, very poor form. However, clearly he’s a little on the dim side to have posted his phone number and work email also so it is only to be expected.

I always thought “OP” refered to the content of the original post not the poster

Eg: “getting back to the OP” meaning refering back to the original question/point when a thread has gone of topic.

Either way, I reckon the OP(sic) is trolling.

We’ve got a toy room for the kids and I’ve got a ‘gym’ room which has my weights bench, rowing machine, TV etc. Did have turbo set up in there but it was a right ball ache carrying the bike up stairs every time I wanted to use it.

These aren’t massive rooms, it’s just about being efficient with their usage.

IIRC you need it at or above 60deg to gaurantee it stays bug free.

In the eyes of the HSE there isn’t such a thing as an accident. Everything is preventable. You just need to show that you did everything that was reasonably practicable to prevent it happening.

If they kids have been trained, but failed to follow the training then they are at fault, they could have prevented it happening. As for the group leader, they would need to demonstrate they have provided adequate training and that the kids understood it.
