Interesting fact about Tom Simpson, they’re building a whole new housing estate named after him on the site of the old Harworth colliery.

    Just sayin’.

uppy downy seatpost, that’s their prerogative, each to their own, same goes for suspension,to me it;s all high maintenance/high cost BS. ….IMO.

What do you mean when you say suspension etc is bullshit?

Do you mean it’s benefits are a lie and a fabrication by the industry to sell more bikes? Or do you mean it’s just not a necessity to ride your bike and have fun?

If it’s the former then I fear for your sanity, if it’s the latter then I might be inclined to agree with you, although it does open up many more riding possibilities that could be considered even more funerer!

I’d have thought the fact that even pro XC racers are now converting to droppers because they clearly make you fast downhill would be enough evidence to say they’re worth having?

I once received a Chromecast through the post from Amazon. It had my name etc on the box but no paperwork inside. I’d been looking at them the week before but never ordered one and never got charged for it, nor did it ever appear in my order history.

I suspected it was just an IT brainfart and a delivery was generated automatically somehow.

This could be the same? Perhaps she ordered something from somewhere who then got an order mixed up and accidentlly put her name on it? Printed the wrong address label maybe?

Check recent EBay purchases and then look at the other items listed by those sellers to see if the Ray Bans come up?

There’s far too much advertising for betting sites online in my opinion.

I mean, I can’t even open a free porn website without it autogenerating another browser window with Bet Fred or something in it!!

It’s really distracting in my moment of need!

    Try the AA
I’ve got my household with them and the bikes are covered in the house, garage, back of the car and locked up outside somewhere.
They treat bikes as a named possession so as long as you list them they’re covered. They offer ‘away from the home’ cover as an extra but I didn’t take it.

I’ve got exactly that on my bikes, 1×11 on the Whyte and 1×10 on the YT, both 11-42.

In my opinion there are very little noticeable advantages out on the trail.

I lent out a full set of home made bearing presses (machined them up on the lathe at work) to a stranger on a FB forum.

I packaged them up in separate bags with photo instructions showing which bit went where, plus a sample bearing just to make sure there was no confusion.

Took a couple of reminders to get them back and when they did they were all mixed up with some parts missing or damaged, plus he kept two of the four sample bearings!!

Needless to say, they won’t be lent again to anyone I don’t know!

I’ve got a T130RS and whilst it’s a good bike there are a couple of negative comments.
Had issues with XT brakes, which I’ve now swapped for Guides. I realise that’s not Whytes fault but it is something to look out for.
The main issue though is the low BB and the shock blowing through its travel in compressions. I’m forever striking a pedal and I’ve struggled to get a happy medium between the preload/sag and preventing the travel sinking in a corner for example. I’ve added some compression bands which have helped to a degree.
Also the rear suspension can ‘hang up’ unpredictably on large square edge hits. It’s nearly had me out the front door a few times.
Not ridden a Jeffsy but I do have a Capra, I know there are some horror stories about direct sales but for what it’s worth my experience with YT has been a good one. I’ve heard of very long warranty delays with normal brands though bike shops before so I don’t think it should be that much of a consideration.

    Or Planet X

I’ve got one of these too. They look also look fine but man they are thick! You might need longer chainring bolts to fit it.

Not convinced the 2.0/2.1 will work, the mounting on the m8000 looks totally different.

The parts at SJS look more promising, thanks.

Didn’t want to do much (read none!) disassembly etc. because they might be in and out a few times.

We went with Sierra, earlier this year as group of 8.

Accommodation and breakfast was okay and the owner and guides were decent enough chaps.

However, for me personally, the trails were just ‘ok’ rather than mind blowing. It depends on what you’re after. Nothing particularly difficult (athough the ‘10%er’ had couple of us on the ground!)

The day usually started about 10:30 and you’re back for about 4ish. There’s a fair amount of climbing expected too as the vans aren’t used other than first thing to gain a bit of elevation.

I think my biggest issue was lack of trial knowledge form the guides. I appreciate there can be quite a high turn over of staff which makes it difficult for them to know everything, however there were marked trails at the top of the nearby cable car uplift they didn’t know. I think we rode them on our day off before they had all season.

There wasn’t much evidence of trail development or ownership either, with comments like “someone else can clear it” rather than seeing it as a benefit to them keeping a diverse network open and rideable.

Minor critisisms really but we had been spoilt at Riviera Bike in Itlay the year before, where the trails were better, less fire road pedalling uphill and great trail involvement.

Have a chat with them. <Some> Managers are people too.

Beat me to it. And much more concise too!

    poisonspider

My advise would be to request an informal discussion between all four of you.

You explain to the managers that you fully understand their concerns and that it could look a bit suspicious, however, it’s the first time it’s ever happened in x years and obviously you don’t expect it to be happening on a regular basis. It was genuinely a case of you both having the same ‘bug’ or whatever.

You then tell them you are both anxious about the implications of it happening again and you’d like them to explain what they expect you to do if such circumstances arise again.

Explain you are seeking guidance and not just being arsey.

Basically, what do they expect you to do in these circumstances??

I can see why they would have their suspicions but no I don’t think they can forbid a couple from being ill on the same day.

Actually yes they can. Whether any normal person would consider it appropriate or not is a different question. There is no legal framework on how absences should be dealt with within a business.

The issue is what recourse you have. They are required to have a formal grievance procedure, which you can invoke if you are unhappy with any action taken. However, depending on the size of the business there may not be anyone to hear the grievance (the owner could be your manager for example).

The only recourse you’d have at that point is to leave and claim constructive dismissal, however even that would be hard to prove. You’d have to demonstrate that the action taken against you is wholly disproportionate to the offence and there was some form of intent to make your life untenable with the company.

The only exception would be if they disciplined your partner and not you (if she’s a woman) as she could claim it was a sex discrimination issue, in which case the burden of proof is back on the employer to justify the difference in how you’d been treated.

Anyway the guy may know this and just wants to mess with your head.

    I feared this may be the case, I’ll bring it up in his next appraisal;

“We may need to initiate a formal performance review if you continue to exhibit such poor urinal etiquette.”

    Or

“Stop splashing your piss and clapping your foreskin in the bogs you freak, or you’re sacked!!”

One or the other, not decided my strategy yet.

Is this really about splashback (in which case the urinals shouldn’t be so close together – even in emergencies) or is it really about personal space
