Cool, as long as it’s not been nicked.
Not a downhill fan. It just seemed weird as two people are trying to sell the same bike. Probably nowt then 👍

Pogo – can’t quite make out the tyre set-up you’re running?

On that pic it was a Knard up front and an Ardent 2.4 on the rear.
Now running a Chronicle upfront as the Knard was useless in the wet.

Been running mine with 800mm wide 3″ rise trials bars for about a year and a half now, makes for a very fun ride…

It looks like there’s a fair bit of clearance but you never know.
I’ll probably get a 24″ x 2.6″ as I know that will fit up front, like dabaldie says there is plenty of clearance.
See what it’s like on the back, if it fits I’ll get another, if not go for a 2.35″ or narrower depending on how little space there is.
With the bike being rigid the fatter tyre up front with a bit of bounce will take some of the judder off the wrists.

I was rattling round on 26×1.95 tyres 10 years ago and survived.

Why does he need wide tyres? What is the problem you are trying to fix?

Only 10 years ago, was that with stabilisers too?
I used to ride 16″ x 3/4″ solid rubber tyres 30 years ago, I also survived.
As to why he needs them, he doesn’t need them he just wants wider tyres because his daddy has wider tyres and his daddy rides a rigid 29er+ single speed.
As to the problem, there is no problem. Fatter tyres just look better and give a more comfortable ride.
These things I know becuase I’ve been riding and building bikes for 30+ years.
Things evolve and improve….most things do, some things obviously don’t.

Bus driver decided to overtake me whilst something was coming in the opposite direction on a fairly narrow road, needless to say it was a bit tight for a moment. I caught up with him at the next stop just to ask if he realised what he had done. His answer was “didn’t hit you did I”, It was here I pointed out he was a dickhead. For a fat old bloke he moved quite quickly and squared up to me. I said I couldn’t fight him as he looked older than my dad, got on my bike and went on my merry way. I keep seeing him in his bus so all I do now is wave at him.

Not convinced, in my opinion chain tensioners (a cumbersome addition) have always been a temporary solution to “singlespeeding” a bike, whereas EBB, slot dropouts (I never had an issue with my BMX when I was a kid and I used to hammer that virtually every day) and now mension are permanent solutions of vary degrees.
Yes I do agree that you may get a slight bit of oscillation with the chain ring and freewheel combined depending on the quality of parts, which translates as slack-tight-slack-tight whilst pedaling but I think that is a very small negative against the imperfections of chain tensioners. If you have a precision engineered freewheel combined with a laser cut aerospace grade aluminium chainring fitted to your bike and you are getting sufficient oscillation for you to consider a tensioner I would get your frame checked.
    Apologies, I’m on the wine.

I think you will have more of a head ache with a chain tensioner.
    What you want is……”Mension”

I assume that your voucher has been authorized and issued by your employer based on a quote of £1000 from your chosen shop.
Don’t forget this is a legally binding agreement you are entering into and you will not own the bike until you finish the hire period and then pay a fair market value price, if the voucher is for £1000 you will have to pay 25%. The way you are going about this seems a bit cack-handed, not to mention fraudulent.

The only way to do what you want to do, in my opinion, is to be totally open with your employer, tell them what you want to do.

I’m just in the process of rolling the cyclescheme out at my place of employment and from what I have learnt it seems to be a very flexible scheme as long as you stick to the rules.

Using a piece of steel pipe or some old flat bars and a decent lump hammer you can knock a SFN out no problem. With using pipe to knock it out you are applying the force to the wings not the threaded centre so they don’t splay out and dig in. You might take a fraction of material with it but it won’t ruin your steerer. It will be designed with a factor of safety of about 4, if you lose some material it might go down to about a FOS 3.5 which is still 3.5 times the yield strength.
If in doubt though knock it down.

    Quality.
If I had tits I would have laughed them off by now.
All the lads in our workshop have calenders up with the ladies on, these are all calenders sent to our factory’s fab department every year by big suppliers of tools, machinery and consumables. If you send a load of blokes calenders with naked ladies on, they’re going to get put up.
Dont’t have a go at the hard working lads on the shop floor for out dated values, it’s more than likely the suppliers wanting to keep the business, thinking “I know what we’ll send em a calender with some birds with their tits out!”
    And yes I’m up north!

    As Chew says.
Before putting it in an email just have a chat with your Director.
emails can sometimes be misinterpreted and when someones job might be riding on it it might be as well to make absolutely sure where you will stand if you say x about y.

Just need to trim my steerer down now that I’m happy with the set up.

    Yale University Press publication.
Worth a read, it details controlled trials using cannabis and the effects cannabinoids and THC have on various conditions and ailments.

I think there is a section on CFS.

Nowt wrong with concrete, you can create amazing things with concrete. Le Corbusier created some of the worlds most iconic buildings with concrete nearly 100 years ago.
As for qualifications, they’re not the be all and end all, I only have a handful of GCSEs and the odd City and Guilds and I’m now a Design/Project Engineer for a company that supplies machinery all over the world.
Try not to worry too much about it, I assume it’s just one module out of a load of modules and you’ll no doubt do fine in the others.
    It’ll soon green up!
    Bit slow at typing though
