Have ridden most in posts above & i have to say, best tyre i have ridden for all round performance, reliability & comfort are continental grand prix ‘original version’ first class. Excellent in the dry & wet, very little rolling reasistance, yet feel incredibly reliable.

    Shimano RS81’s

    For the money…. Amazing!

I am on the 80’s, older version & have put around 10,000 miles on them, these are the best wheels i have ridden. Have had x2 sets of Ultegra in the past & there is no comparison!

Wow, only posted after seeing doc, thinking…

I wonder what responses would pop up! Certainly a mixed bag!

My fav bit of doc, was Lance in kids cancer hospital, you could really see him for who he is, it meant the world to him being around those children, put a lot of things into perspective I felt.

Thanks for everyone’s posts, am impressed!

Love my 26″ stumpjumper, responsive, fab control & hard work through the winter, making me work harder & keeping me stronger, perfect…

29″ just look odd! See loads out & they look out of proportion?

If you want faster, with less rolling resistance, get a road bike?

    Long live 26″ 🙂

I found they size up ‘very small’ they are similar to sidi in my opinion, you’ll need a size / size & half bigger than your normal shoe size. I also found them really odd in shape, so much so that sent back… Quality is fab, but shoes are such a personal fit that everyone will find a shape etc that suits.

Morning, i must say, i was very dubious when i bought my rs80’s last summer, but 5000+ miles later, pot holes + all the extras our british roads have to offer… Still true & am very impressed with them, an excellent buy, best shimano wheels i have purchased, or ridden!

Love my 26″ specialized stumpy expert ‘last of the anodised frame’, it’s the control i like best, smaller wheels giving you much more of it! Was riding next to a 29er last wk & they just look a bit odd to me :-\

Knee warmers still flavour of the month, but have just invested in ‘Decente 3/4 Bibs’ from Wiggle, bloody fabulous for the money!

    Errrrm…. it's the combustion process! Fact… 😆

    Saying all that…

Since itroduction of common rail diesel & removal of diesel pumps, things are an awful lot quicker… I think it's just getting used to driving a diesel engine harder than a petrol '& you can' as they're much much more hardy, as the pressures they have to withstand are so much bigger!

    Give them some stick!!!

Diesels will always have a drag compared to petrol due the combustion process…

    Diesel Air/Fuel/Pressure = Combustion
    Petrol Air/Fuel/Ignigion Spark = Combustion

What ever turbo is added will only be a reflection on the initial combustion & as it's a slower process, drag will always be secondary & noticeable…

OMG! Sounds like i know what i'm talking about! 'Apprentice Diesel Engineer' Lucas

Ultra Gator Skins for sure! 3000 miles not one single puncture, i've never found anything so reliable when it comes to puncture resistancy!

Keep them over 110psi & they are pretty fast rolloing too 🙂

    As 'Matt Outandabout'

You'll love them, 20% extra output with no extra effort, use them on mtb & road bike, fabulous!

Advice – As all have said, keep at least one side nice & loose to start with constantly clip in & out on initial rides. I always clip out kerb side, to make sure i know which side to lean into, there's never any doubt which side you're focussed on then…

    Good Luck 🙂

As most posts, def Specialized, i've had Shimano, but there's no comparison, Specialized stuff is really well thought out & really comfortable… 'Specialized Comp' would be my advice.

Def don't buy all black if you're on the thin side…

Pearl Izumi are always good & comfortable, have you thought about team kit? They're fab quality & look good!

Easily changed, just be careful not to gouge nose area of frame when fitting lens…

If you've a local oakley shop, it's a good idea to get them to demonstrate lens & ear sock changing on a pair of demo glasses.

Once you've changed them a couple of times you'll find it easy!
