Good shout! I would have tuned in on wednesday and been disappointed. Got to be a Stella victory hasn’t it?

I feel I have missed out on this series. This is the first episode I have seen. Riddle me this, how is Stuart still in it after however many weeks??

I had a go at a bodge solution last night: cut a strip of aluminium out of a beer can, matched it to the circumference and width of the splined part on the spindle, wrapped it around the spindle and squeezed the crank arm on over the beer-can-shim, the splines on the spindle crush the soft beer-can alu into the worn splines of the crank arm, thus filling the gaps.

My mate said it might work, i was skeptical, but after 20miles around the long mynd today my cranks are 100% wobble free. Not sure how long it will last, but if its until after xmas when i should have some money to buy a new crank arm/crank set then i will be happy. :D

cheers for the offer kaesae. i will let you know if my solution fails! :D

I have previously used standard shimano lx, the standard raceface x-type and hope stainless. The hope has outlasted the others by a long way. coming up on 2 years with no issues. Colour me Happy.

Cheers for the replies. They were all definitely fitted correctly and the BB bearings are all good. I have been using them hassle free for almost 2 years, but i think i went for a ride a couple weekends back and they werent done up fully and thus the splines have worn.

I had seen that replacement crank arms were available, but i dont really want to accept the consequences of my mistake and spend more money :P But its looking like that may be the only real way to fix them.

Nant is a total blast, but may not fill a whole weekend. I would recommend anything and everything in the Dyfi forest. Only half hour drive or thereabouts from Nant and it is excellent.

    Here's mine:

Built to take a beating. Pikes, SLX chainset (dual+bash), SRAM rest of drivetrain, mono m4 brakes, pro2/mavic D521 wheels.

Excuse the tyres in the photo, they are my commuting ones. Usually run high rollers. Overall build is just over 31lbs, so fairly heavy. But it feels comfortable riding anything.

Amazing day out. i think it was slightly harder than last year, but including the world cup descent was awesome. as usual, brilliantly organized with a great atmosphere in the campsite and on the trails. and the rain held off on race day! what more could you ask for?! :D

Cotic BFe with high rollers (2.35), super tacky at the front. stuck like s**t to a blanket down the hills which made for an awesome day out. dragged a bit up the techy ascents but worth it for going down the other side. :D

I like the concept. Some nicer forks and tires and it'd be sweet. You must be gutted to have to sell it.
