Glad I’m not the only one still waiting on a frame (large/grey – now showing Out of Stock :/ ). PX chat on Friday told me “some” axles had arrived, so he was going to allocate the stock and release my order to be shipped… heard nothing else yet. Sounds like full builds are taking priority.

Anyone else actually got hold of one of these yet? Bike or frame? Feels like it might be a Christmas present to myself at this point.

I asked about the black ones too: Not expected until ‘at least February’.

Awesome. Hopefully frame orders wont be too far behind.

Anybody had any Big Dogs shipped/delivered yet? Either full bikes or frames. Waiting on a frame. I had heard about the axle issue, but since pre-ordering I’ve not received any correspondence at all, anyone got a revised timescale through?

XT for sure. The double shift up is great. Also never had a shimano shifter fall apart.

    And the scientific way: https://www.milkit.bike/#product

Met the guys behind this at a show recently, seems like a good idea if you are picky about how much/how old the sealant in your tyres is, or even if you just change tyres regularly – less mess and faff.

Definitely check mech hanger for straightness too. And while you have the cable undone hold the end and then change gear on the shifter a few times, if there is any friction in the cable then stick some new ones on.

I’m in a similar boat to nickc, been here for about 10months now. I’ve learned a fair few trails, but it’s always nice to meet new people and explore more! Dienamic, that tuesday ride could work for me, just not this week. I’ll drop you a message next week if I can make it. Cheers

Bravo, Torsoinalake. Cake is a made up drug. :D

As for real cake, whatever’s going! Though if pavlova counts that’s up there with the best.

I paid £1300 for my 2001 Vito just over 3 years ago and it’s not missed a beat. It’s a bit rough around the edges and it’s showing it’s age in some places, but the engine is sound.

It’s been to the alps every year I’ve owned it and this year the mrs and I lived in it for 10 days while over there.

Not as flash as most of my mates’ vans, but I love it.

Still ride plenty in winter but the endless cleaning of dirty kit does get annoying.

I just want to know why a hub that cost me £140 (rrp £155..I think) failed after less than 5 months use.

I think we all got that you want some information from Hope. What I can’t figure out is why in the hell you’re repeating the question over and over on this forum when you could have spent the time actually sending the question to Hope themselves.

Properly enjoyed that. Cheers fellas. I’ll try and make it down again for sure.

Should still be there, assuming I can change the bearings in my rear wheel beforehand. I’ll be on a grey Cotic BFe btw. Looking forward to meeting some new faces.

Excellent show. The Countdown episode…. I was in tears of laughter first time I saw it.

How have I not seen this before? Fantastic thread, and huge respect for doing it all yourself. I’ve done bits and pieces to my van, but not even in the same league. Bookmarked the thread as inspiration!

Annoyingly, it does seem to be easy to do. I got my front wheel hung up in a big hole, burped a load of air from my 2.2 RQ and threw me OTB, tyre re-seated itself but on pumping it back up to proper pressure there was a huge wobble in it.

I’ve also had a couple of mates with similar, but less severe issues after casing jumps etc.

Ah I see. I may well take you up on the seals once I’ve had a look inside them then! Thanks again.

Bit of a catch 22 there then. Seals may be bent but I can’t tell without removing them. But removing them will likely bend them haha

I’ll strip them down over the weekend and see what’s what. The lowers were fully cleaned before installing new seals so it sounds more likely it’s an issue with the seals themselves. So, next question, can you buy just the dust seals on their own?

    Cheers for the advice.

MTB – yes, majority of the time. Road – rarely, if at all.

I also very much enjoyed Laggan. Easy to do laps of the descents. The black is fairly technical too.

+1. Would be a damn shame if it is something more sinister than prescription meds.

You don’t mention dates but if you are thinking this weekend it’s the UK Gravity Enduro Race. There will be trail closures/diversions I expect.

I don’t rate the Hans Dampfs for rolling speed. Running Trailstar/Pacestar Front/Rear atm, and they grip really well, in most conditions. But I find they drag compared to the RQs I was running beforehand. Admittedly that is comparing a 2.35 to a 2.2, albeit a large 2.2.

    Just my 2p.

Season 1 was the best thing I’ve seen on telly for a long while. Loved it. Recently re-watched it too. Cannot wait for season2.

My GF has just got a teaching job in Sowerby, we will be relocating from Herefordshire this summer. This thread has made be genuinely quite excited for it! Sounds like there will be plenty of riding to keep us entertained. :)

Agreed. One of the few things that makes me really angry. No reason for it at all.

I was riding home the other week when I saw someone fly-tipping on one of the country lanes. I cut off the lane and go through a park before rejoining the road on the estate where I live, as I rejoined the road I saw the car that had been fly-tipping pulling into his driveway. I put the bike in the shed at home, walked the 5 minutes back to where his crap was and carried it back to his drive. 2 rubbish bags and the inner cardboard tube from a roll of carpet (or similar). It’s a shame the bags split when I put them on his drive, really made a mess of his front garden.

A friend has his 26″ Five running 650b no problems (he did have to lose the front mech due to clearance issues though). Not sure what forks he is running, Fox of some kind, 34s I would guess.

If a Five will an Alpine might?

Excellent. Thanks guys. I’m fairly sure my bleed kit came from EBS anyway, I’ll give it a go when I get home. :)

As Northwind says, it’s likely they’ve been bled with part-worn pads in, meaning too much fluid in the reservoir.

I’ve got a set of R1s and a set of RXs and changing pads isn’t an issue. I’d fit new pads and do a full bleed this time, then if the problem is still there come next pad change something else is going awry.

That said I do find them quite awkward to set up perfectly. If your rotors aren’t dead straight they seem to be hard to get them drag-free. But performance-wise they are good.

    Excellent. Cheers all.
