I rarely use a hydration pack. I just use a small topeak saddlebag with tools wrapped in a re-sealable plastic sandwich bag. Pump goes in back pocket of my jersey. If i need to carry more gear for longer / winter rides i use a frame bag i bought from rose bikes for about £10.

I can understand the benefits of hydration packs but i see cyclists on my local trails who look like they are going hiking for a week their packs are that big.

20 mile round trip which i do at least 4 times a week. I leave my shoes and belt at work which means i only need to carry trousers, shirt, underwear and food which i carry in a alpkit rucksack.

I usually double up on clothes and food one of the days so i can do a longer ride one day a week with no rucksack.

I use a boardman cx with 28mm gatorskin tyres which works well all year round.

Whilst touring vineyards during a recent visit to a sultana supplier our buyer asked ‘what have grapes got to do with sultanas?’

Just bought a pair of Madison Tempest 3/4 for less than £40. not worn them yet but feel decent quality.

Nearly ordered a couple of pairs until i realised they were unpadded.

The only shorts i have are bib shorts and i don’t want to double bib.

    Still good value though.

Add Eastwood to the list of areas in Rotherham to avoid. My wifes parents live there. What a turd hole.

I live in Rotherham (Dearne Valley).

Like most places it has some nice areas and some not so nice.

Wath-upon-Dearne / Swinton are ok and about 5 miles away from the town.

I have put my battery into a drinks bottle. Battery is secured inside the bottle using cable ties (2 small slits in bottle for cable ties which are covered with duct tape).

A lot quicker to take on/off the bike and also waterproof.

Scapegoat – It’s the lower part of my hip (I guess more in the side buttock area). I have not used the drops to be honest and have been riding on the hoods.

onewheelgood – Abbey Crunch were great biscuits.

My wife bought a pack of Oreo a couple of weeks ago. I explained that a divorce was inevitable if she ever brought such crap into the house again.

Standard mcvities milk chocolate biccies are my no. 1.

The first time i went surfing was on the east coast on a hot summer day (Cayton bay).

The waves were excellent. I ended up buying the full kit from the lovely lady who ran the local surf shop naively assuming that the surf conditions that day were the norm. Turns out it was a rare good day.

I spent far too many wasted journeys (160 mile round trip) to be faced with crap sloppy surf in cold weather. Recent increases in petrol prices and family commitments finally made me quit.

I bought some gelert 900mm ones from a pound shop yesterday. They are available on ebay for a couple of quid.

I have the Gelert solo. It’s a great tent for the money but not very spacious.

I have just got a boardman cx through the cycle to work scheme and was able to use my british cycling discount. The bike was already discounted from £950 to £810 so i only ended up paying £729. I have a boardman hybrid also and would say that although the cx is not as relaxed as the hybrid it is not as racy as the boardman road bikes.

Try and avoid the weekend if you can as a lot of French kids go for the day which means the queues are bad. We went Thu-sun so did the rides the first two days and the shows at the weekend. Stopped at Santa fe hotel which.was basic but fine. I was well impressed with the eurostar which takes you right to the park.

Frame bags are not ideal if you want to carry water bottles. The bikepack.eu saddlebags are good but for everyday use a large topeak saddlebag should be ok.

I was very tempted but decided to order a Boardman cx yesterday instead. The current price, bc discount and c2w scheme made it too good to turn down.

i have the boardman hybrid team from 2009. Great bike which i use daily for commuting and the occasional longer ride at weekends.

I will eventually replace with a proper road bike but not made the move yet.

I overtook a couple on road bikes last week. As I passed them they both shouted out almost in unison that they had already cycled 60 miles. Made me chuckle.

I commute 4 or 5 days a week 10 miles each way. I have about 10 different routes now including off road to stop me getting bored. Family commitments mean i rarely get out on the bike at weekends so i usually extend my route 1-2 days a week.
