Jekyll – tinnitus can be a sign of hearing damage. Have you been exposed to excessive noise?

You know that horrible sinking feeling you get when you break something valuable of your own? Times that by 1000 to imagine how I felt when the occ health nurse told me I had noise induced hearing damage after going to see her with tinnitus after angle grinding granite slabs in father in laws garage….

Don’t know what to think about this…whilst I find the YouTube clips above pretty entertaining, if someone scared my under 10s in a similar way, I think the red mist would descend pretty rapidly….

Only things to watch with Ebsy / DIY route is that cheap pattern replacements can be a lot noisier. Also removal and refitting of something ferrous that gets hot in a wet and salty environment (oo-er) may be pain….

Honest John (former Telegraph Motoring writer) swears by Cross Climates. After a few months on his long termer, the only criticism he can find is that they feel very pressure sensitive.

From you say, it does sound quite date-y.

Basically, I think the worst you can expect is that you have to be completely responsible for your own feelings.Even if she does give out mixed messages. She won’t have the emotional bandwidth to understand what she is doing to you.

Might also be worth thinking about the potential reaction of friends and colleagues shared by you, her and the deceased……

Looks good – from that distance and angle, I thought it was resin-bound aggregate. Might look into that for my mid term drive extension.

the Pension Protection Fund and deferred pensions get 90% of their entitlement.

Yep I get this, but my point was that this pot isn’t bottomless – why should failed final salary schemes be dropped up by those who don’t benefit?

    What wzzzz said, really….

Hmm…not sure how this will work in future…not sure I’d want to be the last into a final salary scheme. There are going to be some serious financial black holes in future years and those who have paid into defined contribution schemes are only going to have so much tolerance for government funded top-ups of under funded final salary schemes. I think there is a real risk that younger entrants to final salary schemes are going to experience the Ponzi effect I.e. Their investment will only pay out to previous investors and there will be nothing left for them.

Cool – interesting approaches. Although MrsP has now decreed that my efforts should be better directed at painting the bits of the house that we are going to live in. I’m determined to get this sorted before we move in though…so will prob hire a joiner and tell him I want a “floor on legs” structure!

Good question. No it’s a 1.5 car width garage and the trailer is about 1400m wide. Could anchor the platform to one wall, though….would save me half of the uprights I guess….

Indeed. Shocking. After all, everyone knows the Army only operate on a 9-5, Monday to Friday schedule.

Very little seems to go on at Dishforth, Leeming or Catterick on a weekend, as a casual observer….

Also, unless you are in a very fast moving market, don’t be afraid to leave it a while between successive offers. We made an offer that we thought was reasonable, then waited 6 weeks. Another couple of grand then clinched it. Don’t think it would have done before…

Start low. Finish as high as you are prepared to go. Ignore what anyone else is / may be doing. It’ll just drive you mad.

I once chose not to put into a whip round because I wanted to buy a team member a personal gift. This I did, only to find out that he seriously and untruthfully bad-mouthed me in his exit interview.

He tried to come back a year later when his marriage fell apart and he wasn’t well received by his new employer….

Globalti – you are now responsible for serious disharmony in the plums household. We’re in the process of buying a house with a through-lounge and now you have inspired me to get Swaledale wallpaper all down one wall. It’s gonna be a hard sell….

You’ll be wanting a Honda Accord. Seats up there with Volvo, absolutely excellent in a straight line. Bulletproof in petrol flavour, only slightly less so in diesel. They do have dmfs but no dpf if you get ICDTI rather iDTEC.

They’re only easy to fit yourself if they’re not rustedtf! I lost a day of a weekend once trying to get one off an old Mondeo, then still took it to garage to whip off with blowtorch and air tools.

Do you actually need a printer? They can’t really do anything that email can’t. If the Mrs needs to print for work, why doesn’t she use the work printer?

I used to have the energy to argue the case for me to not subsidise local education authorities with printer ink – i no longer bother since I found my wife buying pencils, paper and even occasionally food “for the kids”. Few teacher spouses will fail to recognise the arguments…

Colouring in on a computer screen is probably a non starter, too.
