Don’t you need to think about bar width as part of your overall reach calculation, too?

Not cheap gas! We got given one and it was horrid. Really non-uniform heat distribution. Rancid greasy residue on the lava rock…..gross. I’m sure decent gas ones are fine, but for cheap and cheerful it has to be charcoal.

Lots of bikers in Hawes today….both kinds actually cos the white Rose Challenge was on. Bikers with illegal race cans on spoiling the feel of the place for everyone else….

+1 if you’re not last second sniping you’re wasting your time and money. Lots of early watchers is a good sign. Have you set a reserve? A too-high reserve is the only thing likely to scupper you if you’re selling what people want!

Groupon garage it is, then! Might chance my arm at going direct for Groupon price…must be a bit of win/win in that….

Wade – accepted wisdom is that all systems leak slightly. Those not in regular use tend to dry out their seals and then leak more. For yours to be going strong on the original charge after 10 years you are a) definitely unusual, b) probably switching it on at least weekly, c) possibly driving something very well engineered (Japanese?) or d) lucky.

Kwik Fit are one of the more common outfits doing the full job, and they guarantee results or no charge. Im not in a hurry to hand them my car jets and have them “give it a free safety check” and come back with a list of tyres, brake pads etc that I “need”. In one notable case, after the monkeys have done pull ups on my exhaust….

    Glad you’re ok, OP.

aP – why do you think the car was on fire? Sounds unusual….contents of bike tank into the car cabin?

Don’t know whereabouts in the country you are, OP, but here in N Yorks I’ve just put our Jazz up for sale. It’s served us well from brand new, will give you a fair slice of change out of a grand and will cost a lot less to keep on the road than anything french!

Nice one. Can’t think of a better build to re-ignite the flame! Make sure you choose your “re-popping the cherry” ride carefully! Get some techy climbs and swoopy singletrack in there!

    Without being too sanctmonious, this

Last time I read The Highway Code was 1974, has it changed much?

    And this

there goes a 20 year unblemished record.

IMO play a signifcant part in what is wrong with driving standards in this country. Driving a car is one of the most hazardous things you can do, in terms of immediate risk fo 3rd parties. To be allowed to drive around in tonnes of speeding metal with only a partial understanding of the rules is crazy if you step back for a minute.

    I feel your pain. Lots.

If she doesn’t normally act this way, Could it be that she is self-sabotaging because she doesn’t feel good enough? Has she been out of education for a long time? Is this course supposed to open up a new chapter in her life?

I’m no psychoanalyst, and my missus would laugh bitterly at my attempts to try to see this from any other point of view. But i suspect your OH doesn’t want it fixing. And definitely doesn’t want to be told that its easy really and that she just needs to crack on and stop being silly. Post deadline it sounds like you need to find out whats going on in her head. Good luck with that…

They’re 105 10 speeds circa 2012 Haven’t found a reach adjuster yet. It’s the original setup on a Cannondale Synapse. It is by design fairly upright – more so that the equivalent CAAD. I dropped the stem by one 5mm spacer, but this hasnt’t made braking any easier or harder.

10% power gain….i would have thought noticable but not going to transform your overtaking and making progress life. Even with a potentially smoother and wider uasabke rev range, are you sure there’s not a bit of confirmation bias going on?

A lot of men will put up with a lot of BS from their partner if they are very attractive,

    FTFY

But if its unfathomable BS in the first year of what is supposed to be a serious relationship, and your kids have a stake, then yep, bullet dodged. You’ll never know what’s going on in her head, but “self-sabotage” is a factor in at least 2 40+ singleton ladies that I know of.

I used to “own” the snicket path that went down the side of my entire plot from the front road to the rear road. It was a proper dogsh1t alley. For the first few years i tried to keep on top of my hedges overhanging the path whilst braving the dog eggs literally everywhere. It was particularly bad the time when i accidentally trod through the house whilst i had kids at drawling age.

When the current craze for hanging dog baubles in the trees took off, i put away the clippers for good and just let it turn into an eyesore.

OP I think you’ve borne the brunt of the actions of one or more less responsible dog walkers who are unwilling or unable to get beyond the end of the close before letting the pooch unload on the verge.

The ownership of the land is a side issue really. If the bloke is civic minded enough to maintain it, he shouldn’t have to deal with dog cr@p.

Looking at the pic again, the land isnt exactly on your way anywhere, so it was a reasonable assumption on his part that you were intending to empty and go.

At least you talked it out. Good result.

My former boss had a golf ball sized benign in the ventricle. He had successful surgery and radiotherapy. Don’t think it was an easy process, took about a year to get right but he did it.

The kids conversation will probably be harder for you than them. As others have said, they’ll soak up the brutal truth surprisingly easily and come back with something like “what does this mean for XBox time”?

I witnessed my Mum have a stroke when I was 14 and helped nurse her through a long convalescence. Also saw my Dad collapse and die when I was 25. Both situations changed me for the better in the long term.

Tall chaps tend tha have the advantage of “longer levers” which helps to get those pedals turned round. A fit 6ft3er still weighs more than a fit 5ft9er so I’sd expect endurance to take a bit more work.

Bone of contention here….Mrs’ sole contribution is a bit of half arsed weeding once a year, followed by an expensive garden centre trip to buy stuff that will need watering by me for the rest of the year.

Thought i was winning by successfully putting my foot down about bedding plants and hanging baskets, which are the worst culprits for watering. But then lost a bit as gardening is apparently “my” hobby which only gets done once the kids are in bed and she is in front of the telly.

Cool, Harriers are one of thise aircraft that look a bit ungainly on the ground, but in their element, low level attack profile, look properly functional and just, “right”.

Growing up near The Wash, I got very blase about Tornadoes screaming overhead.

However, I recently read this Tornado memoir which paints a very vivid picture of both the job in the pointy end and the impact of the Cold War on our military.

Did anyone else in Leeds see and/or hear the Tornado descending ino LBA at about half 2 yesterday?

Go on Trader, enter your budget and search radius.

I’d see what there was that was petrol, manual, private seller (no point giving 1/3rd of your budget to a dealer).

Them look for Fords focus size and up, honda, mazda, seat, skoda and volvo

Please set me right if it’s inappropriate to speculate, but how did the vid ever see the light of day?

If its been paraded round as a trophy video, then the lad who took it and shared it bears an equal responsibility for what happened in the courtroom, in my opinion. (I take the viewpoint of “isn’t the first, won’t be the last….war is always f’d up)

If on the other hand the poor lad who witnessed the event came home traumatised and burdened by what he had seen his colleague do, then i can empathise more with the fact that the film saw the light of day.
