Ok, let me rephrase the question…..I have one evening to sort out my flat mates laptop before she goes on hol with it for a month. After removing all the viruses and malware, it is still really slow and there are loads too many processes running. I’ve previously had success using avg tune up, but this is no longer available to me on this machine. Any ideas?

Newer versions of outlook let you group emails into “saved searches” that look like folders but aren’t. These have replaced my “mail from [name]” folders. Not so good at subject groups though.

Thunder hawk on Amiga. Full cyclic / collective control on the mouse!

Also f15 strike eagle 2 or F19 retaliator.

Nobody seems to make these arcadey flight sims any more!

I’ve heard it said that it is difficult to get a burner to draw properly without a liner.

Former boss had a 58 reg diesel one. Nice to sit in. Went well. He did have a box in his garage full of bits of trim that fell off it, though.

I find that I don’t really shake off chest germs until I’m active again. Usually start with a few brisk walks, then throw some gradient in, then get back on bike.

Placemats yes, slate serving plates, no.

The ones in your pic are a tenner for 4. If they break, they can be replaced. Or buy better ones to start off with. You don’t see people varnishing their roofs…..

Yes, because TB is such a big problem nowadays…..

Might be worth doing a bit of research there….

In fact, if anybody here did the Grassington MTB marathon in 2009 / 2010, it was me repairing a flat at the very start of the very first off road section up Mastyles Lane. Due to this very issue. I rode the rest of the marathon on 65psi in rear tyre and no back braking. Wouldn’t recommend it. Get sone talc. Smells nice too!

Seen this a couple of times. Even had it with a brand new tyre. Talc the tube and tyre. Problem solved.

And save myself anywhere between £10 and 15k on the Golf, plus its so much betterer looking.

OR, buy one of these and chip it ever so slightly and you have a 300bhp 4wd small estate for £5k….

Why should your kids get preferred access to a specific school over and above the kids who already live in the area you move to?

I didn’t say they should. Why put words in my mouth?

And the LA sending them to the ” 2 worst schools” if the nearest school is already full is overdramatising your situation a little. If you already lived there and your kids didn’t get in then you get offerred your second or third alternatives.

You don’t get multiple choices for in-year transfers. If you don’t get your first choice, you get a place at the next nearest school with places. Which in this case is classified as “requires improvement”.

Nope, shouldn’t flood. Might be worth “exercising” the metal plunger bit underneath through its full range of movement whilst you’ve got it off…..

How about, keep them somewhere safe-ish at home, plus a scan in a copy and keep it in cloud / remote USB stick / parents / siblings house?

The problem with any oral medication is that you need to get it down you sharpish for it to work before stomach stops working or works in reverse. You can get sumatriptan in a single use autoinjector that you just jab yourself in the leg with. Think it’s prescription only but worth speaking to GP about.

Going off piste here, but I’d like to contribute:

1 Bourne – amazing semi- real world Krav Maga
2 Kill Bill – homage to old school samurai films
3 Daniel Craig era Bond – also Krav Maga I believe.

Do it yourself. Lift the existing stuff and put in a pile. You’ll have lovely compost in 6 months. Dig and rake over the soil. Get some top soil if what’s there is poor. Get some of this on it.

Go and get your turf from a proper supplier who has daily deliveries. Not garden centre or B&Q. Lay it in less than half a day.

    Sorted.

I always used to. Had no end of bother with stiff seals on two sets of brakes. Won’t bother any more unless I can’t bear the noise.

I’m also with otherjonv …. Think it is quite common for Dads not to get the whole “instant bond” thing. I never disliked mine, but for each of them went through a period of just feeling overwhelmed with responsibility and not much else.

+1 gets easier. Colic sucks though, just methodically work your way through the different treatments until you find something that works for you or until it goes away anyway.

Possibly try to resist the temptation to keep feeding in dribs and drabs – new milk on top of partially digested milk in an unemptied stomach is one cause of colic.

Riding is possibly a bit ambitious, but make a point of getting out with the pram. Screaming never seems so bad outside, might help Jr to settle, and you’ll feel better for it.

The most annoying thing is that in a few months your brain will blank out these bits and make you think it’s a good idea to do it again!

    My 2p-worth…

Plums (currently on Jr mk3 at 9 months who is very whingy and clingy)

I get the impression there are some VERY uptight health and safety people in the background, keeping the insurers happy!

Did you see the number of people who came running when he ran out of speed on that muddy climb?!

    +1, still go.

Having said that, in the team that I manage at work, 2 people have had cartilage conditions that could not be diagnosed with MRI. To the extent that the second guy who went private was given the choice between MRI first or “straight in with the endoscope, scissory things and cartilage shaver”. Fascinating video footage afterwards……

Probably not old and French due to dodgy electrics. Earlier HDi engines are past their best now although the last of the non-common rail XUDs will do a million miles. Would he get into a Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan for the money? Failing that private sale mazda 5 or Premacy?

I binned all my avid washers when changing from juices to deore. No problems. If you had avids before, you will surely be aware that both types are self-centering? I.e. Put on loose, squeeze lever till pads make contact, then nip up tight. Have you done this?

To elaborate…sounds like it is chemically reversing the vulcanisation process. Yes, the rubber will be softer, but it will also be weaker. I would expect to run into difficulties with tread separation, carcass splitting etc. wouldn’t trust it on my MTB, let alone a car tyre!

I wouldn’t be in a hurry to replace bars and stem unless you are unhappy with their dimensions. They’ll be pretty much invisible to you when riding. Maybe build it up with what you’ve got and see what you make of your riding position first.

I run 2.1 Nevegals front and rear on mine but am looking for a faster rear tyre.

Rode 18miles home from work on road. Strong headwind all the way so kicked back a bit. Until I got a whiff of competition in the last couple of miles…..

We’ve always struggled for babysitters as we don’t know any teenage girls. Never thought of asking the no doubt underpaid nursery girls. I’d say 20-30 quid for a full evening is about right for someone of working age.
