Cheers st…. Much as I love the idea of making kids bikes as good as they can be, and think that Islabikes have done a good job of that, I don’t appreciate being bamboozled by misleading claims. Might have to put in some shop time!

We’ve done villas with pools with our young lads and nephews. Over the years we’ve had 3 inpromptu pool entries by none swimmers. All fished out very rapidly and no harm done. Couple of words of warning though….proper drowning of a non swimmer is QUIET. They go under and stay under. You’ve only got one chance to hear or see them go in.

Second…even if you think your nipper is too sensible and/or too scared to go in, you can’t mitigate against siblings/cousins pushing them.

In summary, you need to know where your kids are at all times, or get a place with a fenced pool.

I swear by Shimano chain lube. You only need a tiny drop on each link and is just the right consistency to penetrate and not go everywhere. They know what they’re on about those Shimano lot…

TBH I find that even Park ones fail after a while. (I could be talking1y plus here!). For me patched tubes only ever get used as future spares.

Bump for this thread. Mrs P also struggling with 2 days of KS1 on top of 3 under 8s at home. Similarly, it’s the bollocks rather than the teaching that is getting her down. The school seem to “police” as their main style of management!

+1 for chickenhawk, starky ward and first light. Ed Maceys 2 books about flying Apaches are good.

Option B looks lighter. Make sure whatever paint you use doesn’t react with the resin in the carbon.

Hmm…you’re not going to save money in any supermarket by going in without a clear idea of what you want!

Do your weekly menu plan, then go to your chosen tier of retail establishment and buy only what you need. You’ll be quids in! Allow a few quid for trying new stuff if you want.

I think MrsFry needs to examine her own issues with men and their bits…

A few notable bits of my experience….

Every female, from wife to receptionist to every single nurse (and there are a lot of them!) finds the whole thing hilarious. This is after all the sympathy, discretion and understanding we showed through however many pregnancies and childbirths!
Bay of 4 us on the day ward. I was due to be number 3. All of us on local. Guy number 1 comes back unconscious on stretcher. Fark! Turns out he chucked a whitey whilst laying on the table! Unnerving to say the least.
Felt surprisingly un-self-conscious getting my junk out on the table. What did freak me out was when they frikkin’ EARTHED me, so that the electric burny thing worked.

Deeply, deeply unpleasant but not really painful.

Highlights of the recovery…slightly infected stitches. Got some antibiotics from GP. Gave the infected bit a squeeze in the bath and the stitch knot flew across the room. Right as rain after that.

Oh, and during the pipe cleaning phase, be prepared for a bit of old blood. Mm, gravy jizz!

Both tests negative for me. All good now. As others have said, the stuff has a big mess “body” now, and doesn’t fly as far!

Dealt with this a good few years ago. Phoned the ins co and explained. Without question they extended the cover for a month or two, and put me on it for free as a named driver. Remarkably human.

I always used to have 520s but there is something about them goes a bit “baggy” after a few years. They just stop feeling quite as positive. I tried 540s and reckon they are “nicer” by just the right amount. The second best bargain in cycling!

Also good here. Standard broadband so good we cancelled our cable installation!

It’s never dropped out in 10months.

Excellent – all good advice thanks. I really didn’t want to pay out to App Store for movies we already own on dvd. Don’t think I’ll be going down the 3rd party downloads route, but advice about ripping greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I used to love the tactility of opening a new pack of 20 Marlboro Lights. The film, the perfectly folded cardboard lid, the cool foil, the raisiny smell of the unlit cigs….

Can’t stand cigs or smoking these days….

    LOL you guys 🙂

Thanks for the Stoker recommendation. Was a bit dubious about the venting as my round head is also very sweaty. Found a Super 2 on offer, so will see how that sits.

Hmm, this is confirming my thoughts….most of my driving is open road. Got a double driveway at home. Don’t often park anywhere other than hone, work, or biking spots. Can’t see much of a reason not to go large….!

Suppose it’ll chew rubber a bit faster, but on the other hand might not be as tempted to throw it around as a smaller car.

In a previous job I once dropped a Nokia into a tank full of activated sewage sludge. Eventually retrieved it when tank was cleaned out.
Left on on kitchen windowsill at back of house.

    It went!

Nobody was that boffered last time round, but FWIW, a quick rinse around with IPA on a cotton bud has done the job. Lovely and slick now…can almost push Pistons back by hand.

I’ve got one and have used it a bit. Sometimes I use it to suck out the majority of the oil, then jack it up and drain via plug too. Saves the hot gush up your arm…..

Only ever get an extra 100ml or so out of the plug, and it’s not sludgy.

I’d say regular (10k or less) intervals and the suction method are fine.

Might be postural ie wind that you would normally get rid of consciously / subconsciously gets trapped by tight Lycra and/or hunching over.

Maybe try 5 mins off the bike every hour and have a stretch.

Got me thinking now….very few for sale privately….but there are a few Seat Leons and Audi A3s with same chassis and drivetrain. A few 1.8TFSI A3s too.

Conventional wisdom has it that the A3 will be better finished, more refined and less fun, whilst the Seat will be more direct but worse in terms of refinement and finish.

Anybody got experience of both a GTi and one of these others?

I remember from reading the Apache and Hellfire books that Army Air Corps pilots can get in bother if the return with tanks below a certain level….wonder if the pilot here had a vested interest in keeping as much fuel as possible in the main tank?
